Some like it hot is the correct answer?

On topic, upon reviewing the story synopsis and doing some thinking, I think this game is a sequel to RE5, not a prequel, my reasoning is that the stakes are higher for this one than for RE5( it would make RE5 anti-climatic). The president of United States is infected, the commander in chief of a global power this time, this seems too big to be something that happened prior to RE5, not to mention, you would think the President being turned into a zombie and killed would be something mentioned in RE5 if this was a prequel.

Additionally, this game is essentially having two major biological terrorism incidents happening simultaneously as opposed to one at a specific time, most of the incidents have been in isolated areas, with remote implications for the outside world.

The grand scale of The United States and China cannot be emphasized enough, the implication is clear with this game, nobody is safe, not the two world powers, not the president, nobody.

The stakes for this one are much higher than in Spain (RE4) and in Kijuju(RE5).

Additionally, this is the first time Leon and Chris have starred in a single game.

If I'm wrong and this is a prequel, it makes RE5 seem like a less than
substantial threat in the grand scheme of the circumstances and consequences.

"Prequel" to RE5 Maybe. It really depends on how we figure the data we have. RE6 is said to ekae place "10 years after the outbreak". RE5 takes place 10.5 years after the "outbreak" which was somewhere realized around Sept. 14 1998 when written about by Brian Irons, CHief of police. The 10 year mark would be Sept. 14th(give or take) in 2008. RE5 had chris and sheva arrive at the beginning of march (ive seen "march 5th". That means if it really is right around the 10 year mark, its about 6 months prior to RE5 thus a "Prequel". But it is unsure at this time exactly how exact that description is.

We do not know this yet. But with a lot of the evidence, it would make sense. Check my previous posts for reasons if you are curious.

On Another Note, Attention RE2 fans.

I toasted LeonA with a knife-Only run and recorded the last boss fight last night. Here for anybody who cares.

I can never get tired of Leon. Chris can go fuck himself for all I care.

It looks a lot more action oriented for Leon too. I'm happy zombies are finally back.

The mercenary reminded of Alex Mercer from Prototype. He seems
Like he's gonna be fun to play as. Graphics were kinda meh but I didn't get to so see a lot of gameplay.

.....What is wrong with the graphics?

It's not like they look dated, they look on par with all current new PS3 titles, like Assassin's Creed, MW3 etc.

The graphics don't look like they're off the Wii.

See the thing is, I liked Chris before he got all beefed up and huge. In fact, I prefer to him Leon, he just needs to lay off the steroids. I mean punching boulders, srsly?

Leon's cool and all, but people make him out to be the cooler of the two. There's no need for the lads to compete. Both are kick ass and capable of holding their own with whatever shit's thrown at them, to pit the two of them against each other is like smashing two diamonds together and expecting one to crack. Both are flawless and personally I'm kinda happy both are in the same game on two seperate missions, im just curious as to how these 3 seemingly seperate missions ultimately tie into the one story.

After looking at timelines of Resident evil. It would appear this one takes place a year before RE5. RE5 took place in 2009. 11 years after the Raccoon city outbreak. So I think it is a prequel. But it is just a guess.

After RE5 this -as far as the story goes- buried itself under the landslide of shit. Might be a cool zombie game though.

There have been various reports lately regarding all kinds of things RE6 related. Some contradicting one another.

Reports from some sources about RE6 (these are NOT confirmed):
-Up to 6 player co-op in campagin (maybe a BSAA squad?)
-An online mode that includes 8 players of some sort.
-Ramblings of Ashley vs Sherry, firing up debate, once again.

Hopefully some of this will be cleared up soon.

If its 6 player co op keep it out of the story but it would be awesome co op like a horde mode with your buds fighting off zombies!

O and another thing im on xbox live and downloading the trailer the info for the story of res 6 says its set in 2013 ?? thats gotta be a mistake since its 10 years after the racoon city outbreak and that was in 1998 i think.

Lol when you look at the direction RE1,2,3, and CV go, then RE4,5, and now 6, its incredible how night and day it is. I loved RE4 don't get me wrong, but it wasn't an RE game to me. RE5 was decent. I'll still check it out though. If they remade RE2 for the current gen, then OMFG.

Xbox sources were one of the reasons all this debate fired up. the 2013 date makes no sense at all, yet they claimed it. Capcom said 10 years after the outbreak. That would be taking place in September 2008. 2013 wold be 15 years. A big math mistake for them. SO I'm calling "false"
Ashley Graham's Voice actor Carolyn Lawrence, has apparently said she has not been approached or asked by Capcom to do any voice work for RE6. Score one more for Sherry!

The highly anticipated "Resident Evil 6" is finally here. Set in 2013, 10 years after the Raccoon City incident, the world faces the horror of a global scale bioterrorism attack. Immersive gameplay experience, horror, excitement, deep emotion and dense storyline, set in an epic scale. More horror, more realistic and more drama. The best horror entertainment experience ever.

from xbox.com but they must be wrong.

Regarding the whole prequel thing, am I the only one assuming that one of the parts (Leon's, for example) takes place before RE5, but Chris's definitely takes place after RE5?

I'm feeling incredibly "meh" about this thus far.

Leon is one of my favorite heroes in any video game... but Chris is one of my least favorites after he roided up and started punching boulders in RE5. In fact, the entire reason I'm "meh" on this is because RE5 was, itself, a very "meh" RE game.

I know I'm one of those "old school" RE fans that creates a huge divide between the old and the new games. I adore the old games... and yet, I also rank RE4 in my top 5 games of all time... it wasn't as scary as prior RE games, but it still did the job well.

RE5 was a disaster of a RE game. All action. All guns. In broad daylight. With a partner. It was RE4, only shorter, more redundant, and with a terrible AI partner that actively got in my way (at least Ashley had the common sense not to waste my valuable rare herbs, pick up planted proximity mines in a boss fight, and take ammo for my weapons). Without multiplayer, Sheva was really useless, and WITH co-op, the game's fear factor just outright vanished. Nothing makes a game less scary than a friend joking around with you the whole way. We barely know any details about RE6, but already they're talking up the damn multiplayer, as if multiplayer is the reason horror franchises like Silent Hill, Dead Space, and Fatal Frame were so popular to begin with.

And one of the bigger reasons I'm so "meh" on this?

Resident Evil: Revelations for 3DS.... because the demo for that game is bloody FANTASTIC. Moody. Atmospheric. Tense. Well paced. Clever. Deliberate. They throw one or two very powerful, slow, scary creatures at you instead of dozens of weak ones to mow through. They ensure you fight in tight, claustrophobic environments instead of big, wide-open areas. You're ammo is scarce. Enemies come from ANYWHERE. It's a DAMN good RE game from the look and feel of it.

And what do I see from RE6? Bro-gamer Chris and his tree-trunk-sized neck blasting away at Ganados with a friggin' Gears of War style cover system now in place.

RE6 looks like the godless bastard child of the really good RE4 and the really disappointing RE5, only it seems to be losing the parts of RE4 that people liked and substituting in more action with tanks and explosions and all the elements of Call of Duty and Gears of War and probably a few more boulder-punching QTEs will show up for kicks and giggles.

As far as I'm concerned, RE: Relevations is the true RE6. Hell, it's the true RE5, being a prequel and all. It's the best RE experience I've had in almost a decade, and the first time since the Gamecube Remake to make me feel both scared and yet thrilled to dive back into a dark, dank, foggy mansion to solve puzzles, find health and ammo, and reload my gun before I enter any new room or walk around any new corner.

THAT is a good RE experience. RE6 has a lot of work left to do to convince me it's going to match or exceed that.

(Resident Evil Revelations - dark, moody, quiet, atmospheric)

(Resident Evil 6 - bright, obvious, loud, not scary)
