why is it that so many drivers use their cell phones while operating a vehicle?? this is such an irresponsable situation, not only that, i have seen people texting when driving 60mph on the freeway! all i can say is, a missed call can be recovered, a lost life not.

If I'm on the car and I'm driving. I don't reply to my text until I get to a traffic light when is red. That's the only time I reply to texts and I try to do it quickly since is illegal in our state to text and drive.

Phone calls don't really bother me.

Texting is an entirely different story, as it takes your eyes off the road.
Anyone who drives while texting deserves what happens.

A phone call is less distracting than an overly unpleasant thought
(or an overly pleasant one, for that matter).

Hands free or no go. iPhone is awesome in that I'll just have it plugged in and can answer the call and hear it through the speakers. Conference style.

Testing and driving bothers me. My sister does it and if we ever crash because of it, I'll kick her ass. (provided we live)

Drives me crazy that my dad does it. He's one of the most responsible, intelligent people I've ever known. He'd do anything to make sure I was safe... but doesn't see an issue with picking up the phone while I'm sitting next to him on the car.

It bugs me that people still don't think talking on the phone while driving is a problem. Where I live, it's illegal and people still do it. The odds of getting into an accident sky rocket when you talk on a cell phone and drive yet people still do it. What is so important that it can't wait until you get to your destination to respond? Our parents seemed to do just fine without constant communication with the outside world, yet somehow our generation has it ingrained in their heads that we need to be avalible to chat at all times, and its absurd. If it puts other people at risk, then it's not worth doing, so put down the phone and focus on driving.

I swear... every time there is someone that I see that almost causes an accident or leaves the exit lane late (during the solid line) or anything like that... you look at them... TEXTING! Or even ppl on the left lane of the highway going 55... you think "must be a 100 yr old lady" nah... some douchebag TEXTING. I cannot STAND ppl who text and drive.

It's illeagl here in washington, but people still do it. I hate it when people are driving while talking on the phone or texting. I dont know how many times I have almost been hit by someone when they are talking on the phone and not paying attention. A lot of these people end up going under the speed limit and holding everyone else up. Get off the phone and drive! Lol.

A guy I went to school with may never walk again because he texted while driving. He was 17 when it happened.

No message is that important.

Here in New Mexico, texting while driving or talking on your phone while driving are both illegal. However, that doesn't stop people from doing it anyway. I won't even answer my phone if it's ringing while I'm driving, I just call the person back and tell them "Sorry I missed your call man, I was driving". They can wait a few minutes, it's not going to kill them. I see people driving on the interstate here while texting, and the speed limit on our interstate is 75mph, so the majority of people are actually going closer to 85 or 90, and it gets pretty scary when you see someone starting to drift at these speeds because they're not paying attention while they're driving.

It's fucking annoying. Wait until you get to a light to text and only use your phone if it's hands-free. My gf texts when she drives and I get in her ass everytime for it.

For me, I don't reply to a text message unless I am at a complete stop. Once the light is green, my phone is no where near me. i refuse to answer phone calls, otherwise I'll just go into the nearest parking lot and take the call.

It is very annoying to be around cell phone drivers. It's even more annoying and very horrible to be the car in the middle while on the left, right and in back are on cell phones. Been in a situation like that once, and I can assure you, I was hanging on for dear life because of how erratic their driving abilities were. I had to lay on the horn at least five times to get these people to realize that they're about to get me killed becuase they can't keep focus on the road.

Honestly, what phone call is important to be on the phone for? What text message is so important that you had to reply while driving? People on cell phones causes the most deaths in car accidents than drunk driving.

I feel that cars should be invented in ways where you phone cannot work unless you're in an emergency That's just my opinion though.

The way most people do it is just plain irresponsible. If you plan on talking on the phone, put it to speaker mode and place it where you can talk and still keep two hands on the wheel at least; with that being said, no, putting it between your neck and shoulder doesn't work. Don't be on it while going at high speeds or while surrounded by traffic either, as you're just asking to get into an accident. Overall, it's just easier to answer the phone when you get home anyway.

Why do people insist on texting while driving. Its a text, it'll still be there once you get where you are going. As for phone calls, there is usually a little feature called VoiceMail you can check later. If that is too much work, the number that just called you will be on the 'missed' list which you call them back by pressing one or two buttons tops. If you needed to call someone else, you should have done that before you even got into the car.

As for it being illegal, its not like that is gonna stop anyone. It's illegal to use a cell phone in school zones here and I seen teachers talking on phones as they drive out from the school parking lot. I know they are teachers since my niece points them out as her instructors.

Maybe it's the teachers fault. I mean, who gives a test while someone is driving?

Two years of rewoked license for probable endagering of public traffic, plus intime with prison.

Second time? Slovakia removes all possibility of EVER having a license and I may not be sure on this, but it also takes your car into custody....

Traffic laws here are enforced with a vengeance.
