Most popular is obviously Sub-Zero with out a doubt. Everyone knows Sub-Zero even if there not an MK fan or even a game fan. Id say Scorpion 2nd.

But least popular would be characters like Kenshi, Moloch, Nitara ect....you know the most newer characters. The classic character are usually the most popular and known.

Most popular, I would say Sub-Zero. An iconic character who's been around since the beginning. Considered one of the faces of Mortal Kombat. Also a character who's changed and evolved throughout the series.

Least popular...Mokap. Most everybody I've seen hates Mokap...more than he deserves IMO, because he's just a harmless joke character after all.
As for most hated non-joke character, I've seen very little love for Kobra.



I have to strongly disagree with Liu Kang being counted among most popular and Sareena among least popular.
I remember much rejoicing when ol' Liu was killed off in MK:DA and I see very few people who actually want him back. Meanwhile, I've seen mostly positive feedback on Sareena. I believe she's top tier in Armageddon and she's got a good story going for her set up.

I think overall Scorpion is the most popular. He used to be my favourite at one time but I've become so sick of people going nuts over him he's no longer my favourite. I mean you go online and every tom dick and harry uses him...kinda becomes dull after awhile and everyone is "me too"ing him.

The least popular would be Mokap, though Liu Kang is one of my most detested characters because he's been the same game after game until he became a zombie servant type.

The most popular, as everyone's been saying, is either Scorpion or Sub-Zero. I'd say both are tied with anyone who isn't familiar with Mortal Kombat but once you get into the actual fan-base, I'd say Sub-Zero wins easily. Honestly, I didn't think it was possible to hate Scorpion until I got here. It's gotten to the point that I'm actually surprised to see people who like Scorpion. Sub-Zero isn't big with everyone but that's to be expected as the world doesn't beat to just one drum. What might be right for you might not be right for some. You take the good, you take the bad and there you have, my Family Guy reference. Seriously though, my experience has showed me that Sub-Zero is pretty popular even with people who get sick of hearing "Get Over Here!"

As for least popular, I'm getting a Mokap/Chameleon/Khameleon kind of vibe here. Pretty much the joke characters...Nobody seems to like them. As for which one sits on the throne of most hated, I'd say that it's Chameleon but that might only be because I've seen more ninja-based posts than ones regarding the other two candidates. Say, if Mimik is used to describe Chameleon, what will people call Khameleon? Chameleon's already taken her "k."

She's still Khameleon. I call him Mimik because it's stupid to have two different characters with the same name, and she takes precedence.

X, I think Kang is up there because he's always been one of the main heroes and the first MK movie increased his popularity if you ask me.

I do believe though that Scorp and Sub are definitely more popular then Liu Kang is, I think Raiden is up there also.

i think the most popular are any of these characters..........Sub-zero, Scorpion, Raiden,Ermac, or Reptile,Sonya, or Kitana.Those characters seem to have the biggest fanbases.

the least popular will be harder. I'd say though Moloch, Drahmin,Mokap,Nitara,Shinnok(damn it!),Stryker,Sheeva, and Kobra.

Since I'm come to just this site alone, I've seen dozens of "Rate the Character" threads, "Boot & Immune" games and all sorts of popularity things. Not once have I ever seen Liu Kang crack even a top ten.


In addition to Sub-Zero...Raiden's definitely up there, no doubt. I would also say Kitana, Mileena, and Kung Lao as well. Scorpion also still retains a lot of fans, although I've been noticing an increasing backlash against him.

I'd say Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Kung Lao, Raiden and Mileena for the most popular category. If I have to choose one, I will say Scorpion.

For least popular, Mokap, Kobra, Meat and Stryker. If I have to choose one, I say Meat.

Ehhh, Cage can't hold a lick to Liu Kang overall.I mean one is serious, the other not until recently in MKA.Most people never took Cage seriously really.

I don't think this is true at all. I think she has gotten a lot more fans since her debut in Deadly Alliance.

Personally, I don't care about her, or use her, but I don't hate her. She's still pretty cool. And has a lot of potential, IMO.

Back in the day Sub zero was no doubt the most popular Mortal Kombat character. however with Mortal Kombat DA's Scorpion pushing add campaign, I feel Scorpion is taking the frontline as the most recognizable character In the series .

As far as most hated, it’s the same story. Back in the day there was no doubt, Stryker was the most hated. However now I feel Hsu Hao is the most disliked character.

Well, the one that most people know about is Scorpion.

Raiden comes in very close behind those two. The fan base is some size smaller though.

Hm.. I'll go with Meat for the "least known about" character. Not many people know who he is at all. Chameleon and Khameleon can fit in here too.

The ones that most people don't really know about, and what they do know about them, they don't like, would probably be..well, there's a few:

1. Chameleon
2. Jarek
3. Mokap
4. Hsu Hao
5. Kobra

They are all considerably unknown to people who even consistently play MK, and they all have adequately sized hate mail boxes...

Says that you'll be hader pressed to hear someone "fight" for these characters in an argument vs almost any other character on the MKA roster.
