Well, I'm trying my best to stay away from a wrestling style, I want to give him a lot of throws, yet make his throw original, powerful and use his arms a lot while using already existing sprites for getting those throws so they are compatible with all MK characters isn't easy at all.

I cannot tell for sure, but I hope we can have a first alpha release with 3 or hopefully 4 full characters and all the systems working in 6 months. It's a temptative date, perhaps I'm wrong... but I really hope so because I too want to play with Jax, Cage and the other two characters I have in mind for a first release.

And well... since I'm happy and I like how supportive this comunity have been with this project, I'd like to spoil somethig huge I just decided to edit for Jax... it's huge in the sense that I will have to edit a dificult animation for all the characters so they will be able to receive this throw:

Thanks to our newest member Behzad, Cage's new outfist is now completed. However, we have decided not to post the full spritesheet by now. Here is some example of what Behzad did, I only did some minor fixes like redimentioning Cage's head.

Johnny cage is coming along swimmingly. He looks super cool

I'm not too big on that Jax throw... there's a fine line between cool/crazy unrealism and just plain silliness, and I think that throw crosses that line unfortunately. I dont know maybe other people will love the idea?

Something I did today:

Jax's Air Punch will work as an air kombo starter


This will be another throw for Low catch, causes juggle



This air kick will work as a ground kombo starter, while the original one will work as an air kombo starter


This is Cage's MKT Shadow Uppercut restauration adapted to MK2 Cage... I think this might be the default one...

There's still a lot of work to make this bad quality sprites compatible with MK2 Cage's sprites, but it's definitely gonna happen.

Some progress on Cage's MK1 Stand, I used as much as I could parts of MK1 Cage to have the feeling of having the exact same character, but it was very hard because the sprites are really different and low quality, still I did my best to keep the stand animation as close as possible to the original one... there's still a lot to do on this one, same for Cage's MKT stand, notive I kept the shadow in Cage's chest...




And this is a character I was working in like 3 years ago... I'm adding some flesh hanging, to make him look cool and also shine and shadows to match the rest of the characters... it's a quick concept tho...


I'd like to have some opinions about this one, if you guys think this way the character would look more realistic and compatible with the rest of characters.

Dude your so gifted at making spirtes. But why didn't you give jax a new outfit? I would love to see him in his mk4 alternate costume with the tank top

Thanks man, and yeap... I'm working on that too... I'm giving Jax the MK4 facil hair (mustach and beard, sorry for my english on this one... it's not my first languaje). Soon I'll post some Jax's sprites.

What I like best on this is the shadow. I can't really see his face well so I don't know.

Classic block took me over 4 hours of work, and it's still not finished... just for you guys to take it into consideration when you play with Cage and use block. :s

Here's another WIP... Cage's Match start 1:



The animation will be a Shadow Dash at the beginning, with the classic Green Shadow effect, I still have to do some head redimientioning and give some "crouch" at the end of the roundhouse to have a more realistic recovery, the idea is from MK9, but I didn't feel like making Cage enter the fight using a Shadow Kick, and the two punches were removed because it was an unnecessary extra work and the intro would be too long.
