With a few appropriate edits, I'd much prefer it if it were Scorpion, or maybe even Noob. The weapons and a few details feel very Brotherhood of Shadow.

It's definitely an image that puts the recent MKSM style designs for Scorpion and Sub-Zero to shame, though. I'm assuming it was mostly colour work that went into editing the original.

the original is the same but all black, he added the colloring, nice patterns!

I dunno why everyone says it looks Brotherhood of the Shadow-y. BotS ninjas look more like gimp suits, lots of tight leather and belts, not loose fitting Japanese shinobi gear.

And yeah, kusarigama is a genius weapon for Human Smoke. It's enough like a spear that his moves stay thematically the same, but enough different from a spear that you can say he's not exactly ripping Scorpion off anymore.

1) Why did you start talking to yourself as if you were a different person, even thanking yourself for posting a picture?

2) It seems like people have asked 3 or 4 times so far to see the original and you haven't given a link yet, why is that?

I'd like to think the latter is a good reason this look shouldn't be part of the Chinese Lin Kuei style, but that's only going to open a pandoras box I have no interest in, SO... I think it comes down to the spikes, the weapon, and the far more acceptable asthetic of the Brotherhood of Shadow in Shaolin Monks.

At best, I like to think the utterly ridiculous gimp outfit is unique to Noob, obtained after he developed moustach-stroking aspirations of world domination.


Again, I'm not about to start debating the connections between the Shirai-Ryu and the Lin Kuei, but this is the kind of thing I don't want to see. I really think it would be a huge leap forward for these two groups to distance themselves from each other as much as possible.

The bad taste of the MKSM look for Sub-Zero and Scorpion is just too fresh, eh?... *grumble*
