I'm the goddamn sysadmin of the site, formerly the webmaster. I had actually been told about the prank before in passing. However, I hadn't been on the web since after 5 PM CDT yesterday, so when I got online this morning and saw this posted...

It was a pastiche of tells that it was an April Fools joke, the most obvious being the fact that one of the books was called Rise of Mu... which is clearly the name of the next adventure game. Soooo.....

Why do positive articles (like the MK tourney) only get 2 pages but negative articles (like this joke or any Rain BBS) can get more than 4 pages?

And just out of curiousity @DArchbishop.... how can you be a "system" administrator to a "web" site? Is MKO setup on several servers in an office, have you evolved to the likes of Facebook now? Are you administrating those servers? You suddenly have a huge network? I had never heard of a "system administrator" for a Web site hosted on a commercial server... a "web administrator" but never a sysadmin for a Web site without having the hardware in-house - and I even have a BS in IT!

I guess no one got the hint. Oh well

Seriously, though, one can be a system administrator for only one server. I don't suppose it hurts to mention that MK Online sits on its own dedicated server, and I do most of the system administration to it (as opposed to the hosting provider). That includes software configuration, backups, database administration, etc. It's quicker and easier to have me do it as opposed to the hosting provider, as the staff knows how to get ahold of me quickly and knows I can make the needed changes in a very short timeframe.

^ That makes since. I thought you guys had problems with a host provider in the past and thought you were using commercial hosting. But yes, a sysadmin is needed for the system-end and the webadmin for the Web-administration end, which it seems you do that as well. I'm also not getting getting the joke in having a BS in IT and why anyone would be sorry about that?
