http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kano_%28Mortal_Kombat%29
Kano made his debut in the first Mortal Kombat, in which he is one of the villains. A portion of Kano's face is covered with a metal plate, with the plated eye being a glowing red orb capable of emitting laserlike beams. According to the Konquest mode in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Major Jackson Briggs was responsible for disfiguring Kano's face before the events of the series. Originally a mercenary and leader of the international crime cartel known as the Black Dragon, he rises beyond the level of mere brutality and aggression by also being sly and cunning. It was through his resourcefulness that he convinced Shao Kahn to spare his life, and it was through ruthless ambition that he later ascended to position of general of Outworld's armies. His actions have made him the enemy of Lt. Sonya Blade.
I thught I remembered reading about a fight in a power plant somewhere years back. I think it was on Konquest or the krypt. Queve or someone'd know, I'm sure

As much as i hate to say it, that fight choreography was painfully bland. This has gotta be one of the dullest teasers I've ever seen, which says a lot considering its an action sequence. I think if we hadn't of been told who these characters were or that this had any relation to MK no one would give a shit about this trailer. The general feeling would be "meh." Some of you need to wake up and realize MK related material does not instantly equal quality. Budget limitations aside, even the Rebirth fight scene out did this. I sincerely hope the other fight scenes are not as dull as this one. Overall, I realize this isn't nearly enough material to form a very strong opinion about, I'm just a tad bit disappointed with how it turned out. I hope I'm wrong and the series is much better than this tiny fragment, but if it is why would they use this as the promotional material for it?
However, that being said, michael jai white is still a badass. And his facial expression after the mine thing was pretty cool. He's a good fit for Jax.

No, there's no mention of the specifics of the fight. These are the exact words from the DA Konquest where it's mentioned:
"You can beat him. Remember, it was his Special Forces unit who destroyed the Black Dragon clan. It was Jax who smashed your face! Time for some PAYBACK!!"

I remember reading somewhere that Kano lost his eye in a fight in a nuclear plant only with Sonya, though. Might of been something you buy in the krypt in Deadly Alliance. Gonna have to look even more now

I've never seen any such material in the Krypts, Konquest, or the few comics which are canon.

Man,every time I think back to Tobias' original vision for Special Forces and compare it to whatever it was we eventually got,I get mad.

I remember taking an MK fan quiz a loooooooooooong time ago that had a question about how Kano got the eye laser and it said something like that. Don't remember it being mentioned anywhere else though, maybe the comics?Although I never read them, coulda just been a lame quiz based on a rumor.

As a filmmaker, too much slow motion. Really, is it unnecessary? It becomes gimmicky when it's overused.
Aside from that, I give it a 9/10. Looks really good to me. The actors playing Jax and Kano were really good choices.

Yeah could be. I haven't read them in a while. I've got a bunch of them up to MK 2, it was mostly about a mystical book, though, which was lame. Maybe after? Not sure. Someone'll find it. I say ask Queve anyway..lol He'd know the history there since Sonya's involved

Well I would remember if it in a Krypt or Konquest, I comb those suckers over every couple of months looking for one thing or another. Jax crushing his face is literally all there is. Well, that and that the eye was made by the same cyberneticist who invented Hsu Hao's heart.
Non-canon comics, strategy guides, and interviews with Tobias about stuff he planned to do in Special Forces and never got to, though, that I'm potentially more fuzzy on.

In the actual version of Special Forces that got made, there is no Sonya anywhere in the game and Kano already has his eyeplate.
What Tobias planned to do in Special Forces before he left Midway is another story.

Ahh..like MK vs DC..lol I avoided it for so long but got it free with my XBox 360 a week ago..Ahh..the irony.. Only thing I liked in that is the battle damages. Story's not too bad either, but I still barely play it. I gave it to my 3 year old and said "Oh hey look! Superman!"
