Let's hope it means production has been on schedule and post-production will go smoothly. I like it moved closer, less time to wait on a trailer but at the same time, movies released in January are not usually the big blockbusters so it's already screaming INDIE and lackluster and sleeper.

they moved mortal kombat from march to january in 221which is honsetly a good call for two reasons

1.i don’t want this movie or future universe to compete against marvel just yet

2. I want this movie do well

Going against marvel is suicide, they did the right move by moving it, hopefully they didnt have to cut corners for that. I really want this movie to succeed, everyone involved seems very passionate about it.

Another fan brought it to Greg's attention that movies released in January are usually bad signs. He denied it as its release is during Martin Luther King Weekend, and this article seems to back him up, although I must admit the successful movies were released to lackluster competing films: https://www.thewrap.com/why-the-mlk-holiday-has-become-a-major-box-office-weekend/

BTW - Today (it's Friday over in Australia) is the FINAL DAY of filming, according to Joe Taslim and Jessica Namee (who also points out it's the unofficial last day).

Meanwhile, propmaker Matteo Medos says he has one more week to go.

It appears pretty much all principal cast members are present and accounted for, except for Elissa (Nitara).

I'll post the photos from this week sometime this weekend but Matteo is the first crewmember to show the Mortal Kombat Krew cup in its entirety, so we now know what the top looks like.

Todd Gardner posted a new video of the director Simon Mcquoid giving a short speech after finishing the movie. He also mentioned on a different tweet that we are going to love the trailer, but gave no date.

COLLIDER MENTION:

The embargo has just been lifted from their set visit and they can talk about the photos but can't write about it until next year.

Something about the composer from Black Panther... Ludwig... not sure if he is making the music for MK or not.

Browsing hashtags I have found other people who visited the set last month and have mainly makeup FX on them (film critics).

He says Lewis Tan told him the film will be "next level" stuff and from his experience he says the film will be awesome. Everyone involved are real martial artists and guys like Lewis Tan and Mehcad Brooks are very huge right now.

Collider feels this will be a very popular video game film and praises the recently-released Pikachu film, by Warner Bros.

Week 12... IT'S A WRAP!

Principal photography has wrapped on the set of "Mortal Kombat," due out in January 15, 2021.

What this means is the main filming is done. There may be pickup shots and inserts and all that and we may or may not know about it.

The next step is Post-Production. This is editing the scenes together, mixing the dialogue and sound effects, adding the music, and finally all the visual effects for simple stuff like adding night to day or even CGI.

I want to say it has been an honor providing you guys with the photos from social media as well as keeping you up to date. I want to shout out to @gosoxtim869 who beat me to the punch several times and also for keeping this thread very active, with pretty much responding to everything I post.

I'll get to all the rest of the photos soon.

Thank you to everyone who watched our coverage of the production of 2021's Mortal Kombat and join us in the Opinion/Rant thread (https://www.mortalkombatonline.com/t/media/mortal-kombat-2021-reboot-official-opinion-rant-thread/LwLo8s1Zn6YA) for speculative topics until we get set visits and articles, which I think are better added to this thread to be honest.

I wonder why Gardner said WE GOT THIS then, unless he was being an ass and basically saying they know what they are doing?

So basically you mean it was the 2016 stuff?

Also... Jessica Namee has been answering some fan concerns about her character, Sonya Blade. Most important and since it is a concern since Jessica is Australian... Sonya Blade will have an American accent as she should.

Follow her tweets and concerns to fans and maybe she'll answer you: https://twitter.com/jessica_mcnamee

I was watching the controversial video where Ludi Lin accidentally revealed Nitara (who shared a trailer with Mileena). I heard on the Internet there was a video accidentally spilling Lewis Tan's character name? Does anyone know if that was true and who might have done that so I can see if I archived it?

What videos and photos do you hope I saved? Be specific and I can see if I have them.

Week 13: It's a Wrap Photos

Last night the krew declared a wrap on the production of Mortal Kombat. This morning I woke up to a treasure trove of kollectible film crew goods, from a red version of the new MK dragon hat to even a krew jacket and t-shirts from ADs. Joe Taslim shows much of this in his story videos. SiSi wears the jacket, I believe Lewis wears the red logo hat and there is a dude standing besides Matilda that sports the white hat, jacket, and red kanteen.

For the record, it would appear these jackets and red logo hats are Wrap gifts.

I'm posting the photos I've hoarded all week today but after this I am taking a big step back from reporting anything new about this film. I have literally sat here, every morning, in the evening, and even after midnight to scour the Internet for as much information as I can get. Unfortunately while I likely have archived 99% of it all, my poor attitude and total loss of interest in this film and this new era that came with MK11, I do not feel I could have offered you all the best coverage as I did with the archival of the MK movie and other media from 2010 to 2013, when I seemed to be more into it. There is a lot of mixed feelings towards this film and while I appreciate seeing all of the praise, I'm frankly overloaded on all the "happy, go lucky" fans who are kissing the kast and krews ass without actually knowing any major hint of what's coming. Not to mention of boat-load of memes from the 1995 movie, MK11, and occasionally the older games. If you wish to hear more of my rants you know what forum to find me in and believe you me as it becomes official I'll definitely speak on it.

Week 14: Post-Wrap

So it seems Chin Han, Joe Taslim and Max Huang are eating together. The prop guy Matt said he's here for another week and I am not sure why those three are still in Australia but I know Mehcad Brooks has already left. We won't see Jessica leave because that's her home; Josh Lawson has been gone working on another film. The guy who plays Scorpion was seen with Matilda, yet according to my script, he should have been there only for a day or two. Alot more crew members have leaked which means... a lot of content I'll likely never see was also leaked the last 4 months. So we fans have lost valuable insight but hopefully once the embargoes lift all of these guys will be more revealing. With over 25 people to watch, as I no longer watch the MK1995 crew and def skipped out on Legacy, I'm not devoting every waking hour to this cast/crew about a year after the film is released. Also, SiSi was seen dancing on a stage and table wearing a wedding dress and Lewis Tan dressed up and performed something onstage with matilda and a few other people. There were also fireworks... not sure if the production put these on or if everyone joined a local event in Henley Beach...

As for my archival duties moving forward, I plan to watch all 100+ videos I've gathered and see if I see anything new or interesting to report here. Matilda leaked a lot of newer locations so it's worth listing them all to be safe. I will also prepare my site with this new content, although expect more ZIP files, and ready it for a "film version". Because the site, currently in the 11/18 script version, reveals EVERYTHING, it will not go up (at least the script version) until after the film has been released. However, the movie version may also begin seeing a news archive and BTS photos/videos and this will likely be released after the first trailer drops.

Anyway, lots of photos of the wrap party and tons of videos have been released, see the photos below:
