Peronsally, I don't like to watch an adaptation that doesn't stay faithful to it's source material, but tries to recreate everything. If these 10 webisodes look just like the film pitch, "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth " I will not bother watching them. However, I will not take this MK: Reborn sereis too seriously since it's confirmed that this is just another "pitch" to promote an R rated film reboot in the near future. I didn't hear WB say they were gonna base the next movie on this web series either.

You are aware that Warner Bros. is producing the Web series right? That's about as official as it gets.

"Tancharoen the opportunity to produce an official series of ten short webisodes for Warner Brothers; current proprietors of the Mortal Kombat license and trademarks. "

That doesn't mean WB will base the next movie off of it.

If the thing does well, You can bet your ass they will.

I came when I've read that.

I loved MK rebirth and I'm glad they are taking the project seriously.

Some people hate it but they must remember that it is an alternate take on MK and it's gonna be different. Why not? From what we've seen, the fights are good, it's bloody and dark.

The only thing I hated about this is Baraka Gordo. Baraka isn't supposed to have dreads and fight using capoeira.

...comic books, and forbid, fan fiction.

Suck it. You have no right to complain, you have altogether 12 games - Special Forces included for the masochists- to go back if you want your dosage of the core MK feeling.

What gives you the right to obstruct or complain about something that is stylistically different, but carries the same source material? You wil not want to see it. We get it. Big deal. No one cares about your pathetic preconceptions or your taste on the internet. No sane man will take an argument about the purity of MK being violated by this seriously. If you cannot resolve the tension inside you because you are irked by it's very existence than go see a pszchiatric ward.

Either way, shut up and don't pay attention to this. Easy.

Exactly, i mean if you dont like it don't watch it. If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.

It's an alternate universe.

So what if a guy wants to look at the story from another angle? For all the talk of artistic integrity crap, deviating has given us good shit. Disney's Jungle Book practically threw the whole Kipling novel out the window, but it was funny as hell.

If Disney decides to make a hilarious cartoon rendition of Mortal Kombat, you won't hear a peep out of me.

TheBigCityToilet Wrote:
Or The Shawshank Redemption? Remember that? Red wasn't black in the original story. But Morgan Freeman made it the classic it is today. Shrek was just a 30 page book and they made at least two great movies out of it.

I read Shawshank, and for the most part, the film was a VERY accurate adaptation. They even kept in the line, "I guess it's because I'm Irish," even though Mr. Freeman is very clearly black.

TheBigCityToilet Wrote:
SHIT, you wanna take this to another level? They take REAL STORIES of things that ACTUALLY HAPPENED and doll them up for adaptations, and NOBODY COMPLAINS as long as the material is treated intelligently.

Actually, not only do I have artistic, but also MORAL objections with that.

TheBigCityToilet Wrote:
Henry Hill himself said Goodfellas wasn't totally accurate but Scorsese still did a great job.

There's a difference between "not totally accurate" and "completely changing the story."

No. That's not even close, dude.

It's actually far more simple than that: Mortal Kombat has limited adaption opportunities in other media, and making and movie called Mortal Kombat that has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat is offensive and wasteful! Some of us have good reason to believe that, if done correctly, MK could be a great movie. Instead, this guy wants to make a fighting edition of "Seven." That. Is. Stupid.

So we don't need a good film adaptation of Narnia franchise because we have already have 8 books we can just enjoy? That doesn't make sense.

Chrome Wrote:

Source material? No dude, names. Just names. Just lots and lots of fucking names. He wrote a completely different character and CALLED it Reptile. He wrote a completely different character and CALLED it Jax. There is such a thing as fictional essence, and it did not translate here.

Mick-Lucifer Wrote:
Brands like this get a finite number of chances to be adapted into other mediums. What we've had so far has been a pretty mixed bag. Giving up an opportunity for something that in no way reflects the characters or material of the brand itself is a reasonable thing to be utterly disappointed in.

Thank you.

While I didn't like the Rebirth trailer and won't be watching the series myself, I still hope it finds it's audience and performs well. If it can draw more people into our fandom, I'm all for it.

Goro is an unusually large hitman who killed a guy and grafted his arms onto his own body. Dr. Baraka performed the surgery.

Cyrax and Sektor are hackers and cyber terrorists working for the Lin Kuei.

Stryker is even fatter.

Havik is an anarchist who mutilated his own face to impress his friends at the Hot Topic.

The possibilities are endless.

Eh, I just find the whining to be silly.

Why would you not be happy for your franchise getting the attention it so properly deserves?

Whether it's an alternate universe or a comic book, or whatever - Everything helps.

I like this new twist on the original MK series. This guy didn't COMPLETELY change the characters or story. Sure, he did alter a lot, but this series has a lot of potential. For all of you that want something that stays true to Mortal Kombat games, just take a look at the awful MK: Annihilation.

If this was being made in addition to an accurate film adaptation of Mortal Kombat, I would light a cigarette and continue on with my day. That's the problem: this rebirth thing is a slot-stealer.

Man, we MK fans sure love talking about slots.

It's a good quality to see only what you want.
He changed only origin of characters leaving they personalities and defining points intact. Baraka is still crazy blade wielding psycho killer, Reptile is still cannibal-monster and from what could be said from MKR Jax, Sonya and Scorpion were indetical to they usual MKselves.
You imagining things. And that couldn't be used as an argument.
