When Fighting Fuu-Jin & Sareena in Mythologies, it turns into a classic Mortal Kombat gameplay style boss fight.

& should Shao Kahn & Goro be Three-Dee Air-Uh characters too since that was when they were officially playable by normal means?

The more appropriate term for it would be the Midway Polygon Era. & MK4 was at best 2.5D. Vastly similar to The Arcade Killer Instinct games.

Without Mythologies, neither Fuu-Jin nor Sareena even be a consideration at this point

& P.S. Bring back Hotaru from the Midway Polygon Era.

Without diving too deep into a nitpick on top of a nitpick, Kahn & Goro were playable on Trilogy's default roster.

MK4 used 3D models, in a 3D environment, that allowed for movement in a 3rd dimension. It was fairly rudimentary 3D, but so were Deadly Alliance through Armageddon when compared to their peers. The Kombat in all four games largely played on a 2D plane, but the allowance for movement into a third plane means they were still 3D.

2.5D (while arguably not actually a thing) is typically used to describe 3D rendered models in a 3D rendered environment that plays out on a 2D plane. Characters aren't able to sidestep into a 3rd dimension. MK4 characters were able to move into a 3rd dimension, hence, the game was 3D (Even if very basic and simplistic 3D, still 3D)

The arenas were round dude.

Also, why are are you breaking balls about nitpicking era related naming conventions, when you're the one who kicked off said nitpicking in the first place?

quoted for truth & lulz

& for the last damn time, Fuu-Jin & Sareena are NOT 3D era characters. I know the majority of you *cringes* people want to ignore Mythologies but too freaking bad! That's the game they debut in & if you don't like it well suck it.

That was an adventure game, and they weren't playable. Hence why no one takes that game into consideration.

Didn't stop Tremor.

lol Tremor became playable in a Netherrealm title before Fuu-Jin & Sareena, LMAO! just realized that.

Okay...I'm confused. No one considers Tremor a 3D era character even though the game he was in came out during that period so...

Unless you didn't understand my point up there? Let me clarify, my point was though they made their first appearance in an adventure game which was 2D, they made their appearances in the mainline series as playable characters in the 3D era.

Wait, was that part of it? When was that part of the "official" (you know what I mean) leaks? I don't remember those two being part of the credible leak.

Jacqui's new outfit appears to share some stylistic armor elements with Cassie's. I don't like that. One of the biggest complaints about the Special Forces characters in MKX was they were too homogenized. Giving them matching outfits isn't going to help that opinion.

So incase anyone else missed it (because I sure as hell did) the story trailer isn't a leak... it's just out now...

Loads of goodies in this one lads. Kollector can indeed be spotted. Kahn is indeed part of Story mode.

Kronika seems to be recruiting heroes and villains from across time.

I'm at work, so I can't pick this apart, but I'm eager to see other people start picking, lol.

Bingo. Cassie and Jacqui are redundant roster waste. They are just more Special Forces soldiers except one is a sassy Instagram star, and the other fills a diversity quota.

Sonya and Cassie look waaay too much alike. Yes, I know they are mother and daughter(stating the obvious before some smartass chimes in), but there's hardly any difference in their style or looks- they seem like pallet swaps which sadly diminishes any unique attributes Cassie brings to the table other than her "sass".

Perhaps they should've went with Takeda/Kung-Jin instead. They at least are unique gameplay wise and Takeda specifically has a lot of story potential due to his ties with Scorpion.

Sadly, it appears NRS have failed to flesh out Cassie and Jacqui and have instead doubled down in making them "mini me's" of their parents. Which leads me to wonder, why?

I agree with every word. Imagine if either of these 2 NPC females were on the roster. They both have design effort, they look powerful, I would be very eager to know more about either of them. I cannot convey how much I do not care about generic Special Forces soldiers who have parents from classic rosters. The whole gang of NPCs behind Shao Kahn could be on the roster -- they are so well detailed and designed.

I'd pick any of those NPCs behind Shao Kahn over a Cage/Blade/Briggs. In fact, most of the Earthrealm characters.

The guy with the tusks on his mask looks so cool.

That's certainly not true from what i saw. Cassie plays differently from her mother.

And all we saw of Jacqui was a fatality, which i like, so you are really jumping the gun there.

I'm not talking about fatalities and moves, YES, Cassie plays much differently than Sonya- but she looks EXACTLY like her. There's no difference between the two other than Cassie's sassy personality. Damn near identical models and don't give me that bullshit "mother and daughter" excuse- that still doesn't change the fact that Cassie has no individual style design wise.

I like Jacqui's look better in this game than MKX from what I see, but she's just another special forces soldier. There's nothing unique about either of them from design stand points and that's made worse because we already have their identical looking parents on the roster.

I thought for sure NRS would take a lot of the criticism and really make an effort to make both Cassie and Jacqui unique DESIGN wise and they haven't- they're still special forces fanfiction gone awry.

Fun fact you can look up one of the concept artists for the game on deviant art. He has some his concept art up and one of them is of Cassie when she looked like a punk rock wrestler with big pink hair. They said initially they were told to not make the Kombat Kids bear resemblance to their parents and be their own character. He also seems a little miffed that his efforts were in vain when everything was said and done.

I can just imagine how AMAZING Sindel will look in MK11.

They've been doing a great job designing her since Deception.

Such a sad situation. I feel like because there's absolutely no risks taken with her or Jacqui's designs- they certainly won't go the distance as characters if they remain so redundant in appearance.

Anyone who thinks design isn't important is a fool. What a MISSED OPPORTUNITY and sadly, this may be one that's fatal to both characters.

I'm with him on this one. As someone who loved Cassie in MKX, I'm thoroughly unimpressed with her look in MK11.

I hate that she has hair now. I know that she took a lot of grief over the resemblance to Miley last time, so i could understand trying to move her away from that haircut, but I liked the edgy quality the buzzcut gave her. If they wanted to veer away from Miley, I would have preferred something that still veered on an edgy non-conventional look. A plain old ponytail is just friggin' boring, and more in her mother's wheelhouse.

The first costume, a military battlesuit, I can accept. I don't love it, but I can accept it, as a military battlesuit was her primary look in the last game, and it's good to maintain some sense of consistency.

Her second costume, seems to be a military battlesuit + a jacket. Which is boring and too similar to her first costume. I think I prefer it with the jacket tbh, but that said, I don't think she needs both. One or the other. Not to mention, Sonya has basically the same outfit in her skin set.

Her 3rd space-suit costume is just... a complete WTF from me. I hate it. Too out there.

I dislike that none of her 3 looks are non-uniform. I liked her casual-wear alt in the last game. I liked that in the last game her primary erred more toward her mother, and her secondary erred more toward her father. At present she doesn't have something like that. All 3 of her skins look like military battlesuits.

And because all 3 of her looks look like battlesuits, combined w/ the ponytail, I completely agree, she looks WAY too much like Sonya. And not in a familial resemblance kind of way... more in an uninspired design kind of way.

Nightwolf and Sindel are rumoured to be DLC but there is no evidence of that. There is nothing to suggest Shang Tsung is in MK11.
