Ain't a damn bit of hard fact to back up the suggestion he is, but there's tons of buzz out there suggesting it.

Right...the same could be said of any chracter that has not been confirmed except with various amount of people suggesting them.

So there is no evidence of Shang Tsung in MK11?

I wouldn't say there's no evidence... per say. Undeniable physical evidence isn't the only kind of evidence.

The reason everyone's glomming onto the idea that Shang Tsung, Mileena & Shinnok are part of the roster... is... BEFORE the photographic leaks... an allegedly leaked roster was posted which was identical to the photo-leaks, but for the fact it also mentioned that Shinnok, Shang & Mileena would be secret characters.

Now, what makes that a touch more noteworthy than most leaked rosters is, it was also the first leak (to my knowledge) to name Cetrion. And furthermore included Kollector (though I had seen that name bandied about beforehand)

THEN the photo leaks came and seemingly verified the entire base roster that was presented in the written leak, Cetrion, Kollector and even the unlikely and unexpected by most Jax. Thus adding credibility to the written leak (which came first)

FURTHERMORE... when the photo leak came the select screen had a conspicuous number of slots on it: 34 total... 9 of which were blank.

Up to that point, we'd seen 25 slots, and indeed, 25 slots on the leaked photo were filled in.
Preorders verify that Kombat Pack 1 contains 6 characters, suggesting that's what they have planned for the first wave of DLC.
Leaving a remainder of 3 mysteriously unaccounted for slots.

It seems a VERY interesting coincidence that the exact number of slots we have in remainder lines up with the number of secret characters suggested by the written leak.

Is any of that proof? Not at all!

But it is evidence. Not irrefutable evidence, but evidence all the same.

Also as of today, there's a brief shot in the trailer of some monks getting their souls sucked by a distinctly green glow. While Shang Tsung isn't the exclusive rights holder of the green soul glow suck... it is verymuch one of his signature hallmarks.

BUT AGAIN... like I started off saying... the suggestion is out there. The proof isn't.

(I'm personally taking it all with a hesitant grain of salt until we see some proof... but I admit I'm hopeful about it. *Shrug*)

I think Shang is in. In the story trailer they showed monks who were hanging down from the ceiling and getting there "souls" (green energy) sucked out. Could be a hint for Shang. Also there is a guy standing behind a pillar and peeking. Looks a little bit like Shang but hard to tell.

So... i saw the Kombat Kast and to be honest... I am really disappointed about Cassie's gameplay. Looks generic and not really like fun... On the other side I am really surprised about Kano. I definitely play him as a grabbler. Can't wait to try him :D

I talked about Shang pretty much right after the reveal over at trmk, when Ed said that we would all go crazy over a scan for a returning character Shang made perfect sense. Earlier in 2018 Ed had tweeted about that actor so I just put two and two together and came up with that, besides who else could they scan that would make a huge splash? No other character is really tied to an actor in any real way. I'm not saying that those of us who think it's Shang are 100% right but the flaming skull in the first trailer and the souls being stolen from monks in this one along with the other stuff I mentioned makes a decent case.

I think Shang is in but I think that guy looking around the pillar is either human Scorpion or Jax.

I really hope that Shang is in. Kano was my MKX main but I’m not convinced with his new style in this one.

Since it is very unlikely we will see Reiko (who would have been awesome in this game) I’m banking Shangs here somewhere

I think shang Will be playable however shinnok and mileena Idk. I for some weird reason by how the story psychology was playing out , thought shinnok as playable before anybody mentioned it. The stage head is a decoy too like the stage that has cage and kano.. Mileena unlockable seems to weird to be true but i prefer it to be a secret even after launch. That's a secret for fans of her that should be kept under wraps like cyber sub zero should have been. Hopefully they got hidden fights like mk9 as well.

Agreed, those are good points but consider the following as well. Those leaked pictures came from a QA analyst. A QA analyst would be able to know the roster since they are testing the characters are not broken and there are not bugs which is the reason why even though there were no pictures for certain characters, there was three initials for them instead. An example would have been Noob, who is missing a picture on the select screen and has "NOO" instead. It is possible that each QA could get different characters to work on but people in companies talk to one another. I am pretty sure every QA analyst knows every character that got put through testing. If Shang Tsung was on the roster, it would make sense to put his name in as well even if they did not have a picture for him. The character select screen could be out of date but I know those pictures were taken in Janaury. The game has to be complete by mid-March and go gold, so that it gets sent to pruduction and be distributed to all sellers by the release date. Could Shang Tsung be added to the roster between January and March? It is possible but from what limited knowledge I have of game development, this close to release the studio would be working to fix bugs and polish the game as much as possible. The same applies to Shinnok and Mileena as well.

This does not apply directly to Shang Tsung but since he is often grouped with Mileena and Shinnok I think I will mention it. When the tower modifiers came out people said those characters who only have a move would not be on the roster. This was the main argument as to why Rain would not be playable. Shinnok was one of those characters as well, along with Reptile, Cyrax and Rain. If Rain would not be playable becuase of being tower modifier then the same applies to Shinnok as well.

As for Mileena, if it was not for that leaked list no one believe she was playable. I think if Shao Kahn as a DLC character is in the story then I would assume Mileena would be in the story as well. Logically, where would Mileena fit in, certainly she got screwed by the current timeline so I would assume she would be in that scene when Kronika is talking to Shao Kahn. I would think she would right next to Shao Kahn in fact in the place of the Kollector, but she is not. I could be wrong and she could have a totally different role. I have talked to other people who were talking to the guy who leaked the character select screen and they said any character not on the leaked select by name or picture, take with a massive grain of salt.

I am not trying to be a killjoy or anything like that because I know people got their favourites and obviously want to believe until the final second that they are in but I am trying to be as realistic as possible.You never know, Shang Tsung, Shinnok and Mileena could be playable and that would be awesome but from I can ascertain from what we have been shown, I do not think so.

I don't necessarily disagree. As I said, while there's evidence, it's not irrefutable evidence, as is evidenced by all that refuting you just did, lol. I agree, the three of them should be taken with a massive grain of salt.

Just for the sake of ongoing discussion, and to offer some counterpoints to all you just said (and I admit, this is really just me speculating, because I too only have a limited knowledge of game development)... I would think if they're trying to keep the secret of their playability guarded... it would make a certain degree of sense to leave them off early builds. One thing I've heard consistently throughout the past few months is they're taking security extra seriously for MK11, and at least trying to prevent leaks. While he may be a QA tester, clearly the guy who leaked the screenshots can't be that trustworthy, as... he leaked the screenshots. So I dunno. Maybe those 3 never made it to his build and simply remained isolated to more trusted hands.

Furthermore, I would think it's at least possible, as secret characters, that those 3 would receive less development than the priority characters, and simply be a final priority and there's plenty of evidence in past games to support that theory. This series has a long and storied history of secret characters who felt half finished. Reptile, Jade, Smoke, Noob, Chameleon, Meat. All of them used recycled assets and were not fleshed out characters when they debuted (some still aren't). Blaze & Mokap both lacked weapon stances & fatalities. But if those examples are too out of date, even as recently as MK9, Cyber Sub-Zero lacked a unique bio, an alt costume, even a proper spot on the select screen (as he shared the DLC slot with other characters)...

Now add to that the fact the select screen screenshot was clearly from an early build circa January where characters were still being finalized. As mentioned, Noob, Johnny etc. Don't have portraits yet. I don't know how many people noticed this, but the characters without portraits are also the characters who weren't present in the steam leak (Johnny, Noob, Kitana, etc) and that's NO coincidence if you ask me. Their assets likely weren't in the steam leak, because their assets likely weren't ready yet when the data was submitted to steam. SO... clearly... the characters aren't all built at the same pace and some were always further along than others. Johnny wasn't ready in January, but seems to be now. *Shrug* Who's to say the same isn't true of Mileena. Even if she's a few weeks behind Johnny.

Heck, even back in the credible December leak that first name dropped Kronika/Geras, they made it clear Shao Kahn wasn't ready to be shown. That leak indicated they wanted to show him off for reveal day, but that it wasn't a viable option, so they fell back on showing off Geras instead. So I mean... where is the line between "ready" and "not ready" ... seems to be just a matter of a couple months.

Taking all that into consideration, I'd say it's at least possible that Mileena/Shang/Shinnok took final priority in development, and simply weren't ready for the select screen back in January (or deliberately left off it to maintain their secret status).

BUT... lets not get off track here: To state it clearly once again - I agree - MASSIVE Grain of salt.

I'm not calling those 3 confirmed at all. Just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the rumors are solid.
