Since we've already heard news about Ermac's corpse being in the krypt elsewhere, and now we have Kenshi's... not to mention Goro's & Possibly Moloch's also in the Goro's Lair stage (also on Shang Tsung's Island)...

I'm becoming more and more convinced that none of this means anything and has little to nothing to do with canon. The corpses on that island are piling up, and while it wouldn't surprise me if they killed Moloch off-screen (again) that's way too many fan favorite bodies to pile up without even giving them the courtesy of an on-screen death. While I'm sure none of these characters in 11, I doubt these corpses will have any lasting effect on 12 and beyond...

I'm guessing 1 of 2 things here... Either A - None of these bodies are canon at all, and they mean nothing or B - There's some time travel BS going on at the ruins of Shang Tsung's Island in Story Mode, and we have some sort of Armageddon or Mass Death alternate future at play here, which we don't know the details about yet.

Wouldn't be the first time this team threw random character's corpses in somewhere and didn't bother explaining it (only to ignore it later)... I'm looking at you Sheeva in MK Deception...

And funnily enough, now Sheeva is one of the only NPC's we know ISN'T a corpse in this game. Funny how things work out, lol.

Her intros and outros are so awesome! Some of them look like rhythmic gymnastics which I love.

Cassie and Sonya have mediocre skins, imo. Maybe Sonya fans like the Ronda Rousey, butch, non-binary look, but not me. Erron Black's skins are mostly underwhelming, too. Noob Saibot's masks are amazing. Most characters have decent skin choices. Geras, Cassie, Sonya, and Erron are not varied, and seem a bit low in effort, imo.

Think in that skin the long hair is just tucked away. I didn't see any with short hair.

The menu of the skins is kinda convoluted. They should just display each skins 1 time and have a separate "window" for selecting the color schemes.

Agree. The way it's currently setup it reads every color as though it's a different skin.

They should have separated out color at the very least.

Arguably they could have separated a few features like hair out too (seeing as a few characters like Skarlet & Kitana seem to have some alternate hairstyle versions of the same skins)

I kinda also wish there was a way to disable the computer from picking certain skins/colors we don't like... like a blacklist. I know anything can appear online, but speaking purely in single player arcade mode, I want the ability to randomize skins, but still filter out the stupid ones (stupid being my own subjective single player opinion, lol)

Moloch is dead. NRS says that the MKX comics are canon, so Goro only has two arms, Havok is a squashed head (but is chaos eve truly gone?), and Moloch was decapitated by Quan Chi (?).

They could just put in an option that if you play online, you only see the default skins if you want, but the other player still see their own skin.
Agree, with the amount of customization, they could have well seperated hair and stuff. Not a create a character, but selecting the hairstyle and clothing they created for that specific character.

Yeah... I realize Kittelsen is sticking to his story that the comics are canon... but we're all aware MKX contradicted them on several points.

While that may have been forgivable, since it was written alongside the game and the teams didn't always sync up, MK11 still seems to be following suit, as contradictions already seem to be creeping in. Moloch's corpse being in Goro's lair (I reject the idea it's a generic Oni, it has his signature Ball & Chain, which is unique to Moloch, not other Oni)... not to mention Erron Black having Hsu Hao's head.

Are there excuses for these holes? Possibly. Remains to be seen. But this development team doesn't have the best track record for keeping the details of their own canon in line, so I'm not optimistic.

SO... despite Kittelsen's ascertain... I reject his reality and substitute my own. I consider the comics quasi-canon-with-a-heavy-grain-of-salt. No one should be taking anything from those as a primary source of information, I don't care what he says.

They bring up events from the comics in the MKX game. I'd imagine they will do the same in the MK11 story.

I take character entrances with a grain of salt.. Erron Black with the head means nothing because in the reality of the timeline Erron Black doesn't have those fights with everyone. The tournament fights exist outside the MK11 story. They are for arcade / online smash and bash.

I do in the instances where he didn't write it well, yes. Writers can F-Up their own stories. Plot holes are a thing. Especially in the world of video games. DOUBLE-especially in friggin' time travel stories... time travel stories are gigantic landmines that writers never seem to see the danger of until they've already exploded. And this franchise isn't even exclusively HIS story, he's just the latest guy to put his hands on it. Of course he considers the part HE wrote canon... but as a fan, I take the parts he wrote and weigh them against the 10 other games he didn't and decide "okay... where are the contradictions, and how do we resolve them with headcanon to make this less stupid..."

Such is the life of a fandom.

I'll grant you, intro canon is dubious. But I'd be willing to bet money this game has oversights that contradict the comics beyond just Moloch having a head, or Hsu Hao not having one. Time travel plots are notoriously sticky, and given this franchise's track record for overlooking plot details... I have no faith they'll avoid that stickiness.

(Not that I don't still think I'll enjoy the game. I will. I'm just ya'know... being pessimistically real with my expectations.)

So I have no idea where this menu pic came from, or what the context for it is, but it seems to suggest there are at least 15 NPCs in story mode... and... suggest there's some sort of reason to tally them up...
