This was actually one of the things I wanted for this game - to be able to pick P2 colours. When playing the demo, I wanted Mileena to have her dark purple coloured outfit rather than the main pink one - and now I can!

It's a nice simple little feature. ^^

The alt on ermac's alt is pretty sweet to me. Orange is my second favorite color so I'm really feeling this. I'm hoping for another alt pack soon though. I want too play as that Cyber Reptile. Or better yet. The human alt from the Concept art book! That design is just beautiful. I love it so much more than any other other designs in the game.

I did not know, so news to me. Amusing that something so simple as pressing start twice was missed by many of us. Some of the player 2 color variations are neat, and some are even better than the primary versions. Example: I have always disliked Mileena in that magenta/pink hue -- I far prefer her deep purple color from MK2. Also, Cage having a black tuxedo for his alt is a big change. This does add some variety for fighters with costumes that change enough for player 2 versions. I certainly will always play Shang Tsung in his alt blue robe, and Kitana in her primary with the deeper MK2 blue.

I accidently did this yesterday and wasn't sure how. Also after choosing their 2p color, the bio model will be the 2p color as well.

Giving my fingers a break from playing the game, so thought I would chime in further with what I think of the "new" color options for costumes. I think it is awesome they did this as it gives people at least 4 choices to play their character with, while fighters with klassic kostumes, or Mileena, have 6 choices.

Scorpion - 2p color only deepens his golden hue to that of a dark urine color. Prolly best to stick with 1p color option.

Liu Kang - 2p color is a deep blue instead of red, which makes it easier to tell two Liu Kang players in the same outfit apart.

Kung Lao - 2p color is a teal, or blue-green color. 1p silver dragon designs, and belt buckles, are gold in 2p color. Could have been better, such as MK3 brown, to help make the outfits look more different when two players are using him in the same fight.

Sub-Zero - 2p color is a very vivid sapphire blue and much deeper than the lighter 1p blue. Fairly easy to tell them apart.

Sindel - 2p color is indigo, much more blue than the violet purple of 1p.

Ermac - 1st outfit: 2p is a rusty red, like the color of dried blood. 2nd outfit: 2p color is a lighter red with an orange hue, like that of a tomato red. Changes in color are too close and two people playing Ermac in the same outfit are not gonna like it.

Reptile - 1st outfit: 2p is teal, 1p is emerald green. 2nd outfit: 2p Reptile's skin is gray, eyes are different color, cloth armor is teal. I LOVE this color scheme for him. Klassic Kostume: 2p is just a little darker, deeper green -- almost identical which is gonna make two klassic kostume Reptile's in the same fight a bitch to tell apart.

Kitana - 2p is a deep sapphire blue, just like her MK2 blue outfit. I like this color better, but it should be noted it is far more difficult to see the etching design on her clothing in 2p color.

Johnny Cage - 1st outfit: 2p color changes the laces on his shoes and pants to red. His sunglasses are solid black (his sunglasses have a mirror finish in 1p outfit), and his hair is a darker brown (his hair is a lighter brown in 1p outfit). 2nd outfit: 2p color changes the suit to black, sunglasses to black, hair to dark brown, shoes to light brown, shirt is a darker pink.

Jade - 2p color is a lighter green, almost lime. Not a big difference in colors, and the 1p color is the better of the two, imo.

Mileena - 2p color is a dark purple, same as her MK2 color. I far prefer this over the pink/magenta hue of her 1p hue.

Nightwolf - 1st outfit: 2p color adds a minor teal hue to the plants, and that is it. Good luck telling them apart. 2nd outfit: 2p color changes the wolf head cape and upper-body paint to dark charcoal gray. HIs pants are very dark brown.

Cyrax - 2p color is a deeper yellow, like the color of beer, instead of his 1p lemon yellow. 2nd outfit 2p color looks almost dark orange.

Noob - 2p is a lighter black, more charcoal gray instead of the very deep black of his 1p outfit.

Smoke - 2p color is a mildly darker gray with a slight blue hue to it. His hair is also a tad darker. Not a big difference from the lighter gray of his 1p color.

Sektor - 1st outfit: 2p color is a brighter, richer red, like that of ketchup. The lights on his forearms, chest, and eyes are a deep indigo, almost purple. This is in contrast to the very pale blue color of his electric lights on his 1p outfit. The metal plate over his belly, the metal knee pads are both lighter silver in color. 2nd outfit: 2p changes the red cloth to orange, and the medallion over his right chest is now black instead of silver/gray.

Sonya - 1st outfit: 2p color is a dark teal, and not much different than the mildly lighter green/teal of 1p color. Not easy to tell apart. 2nd outfit: 2p color scheme changes her sunglasses to black instead of reflective lenses, her hair to a god-awful peach-orange hue, the hat and shorts are slightly darker with a minor camouflage pattern, the tank top is dark gray instead of white. I far prefer the 1p color scheme of her 2nd outfit.

Jax - 1st outfit: 2p color changes the pants to MK3 purple, and the lights on his metal arms are red instead of yellow. Welcome back, MK3 Jax! 2nd outfit: 2p color scheme slightly darkens the pants and chest armor to look closer to black, plus it changes the glowing lights on the arm pads to purple instead of light blue. Way too similar and hard to tell apart.

Kano - 1st outfit: 2p color changes the trim on his clothing to dark blue, and the glowing object on his left chest is now orange. 2nd outfit: 2p changes the glowing light on his chest to orange instead of red, his pants are dark blue, his vest is darker and almost black.

Stryker - 1st outfit: 2p color changes pants to chocolate brown, and the chest armor vest is black. 2nd outfit: 2p color changes the body suit to light gray instead of light steel blue of the 1p color option. The vest, hat, and all other body armor is black. The fabric below the armpits onto the back, and his belt, are now leather brown instead of the silver gray on the 1p color option. The 2p color scheme for his 2nd outfit is awesome!

Shang Tsung - 1st outfit: 2p color changes the trim on his legs, loin sash, back and chest to forest green. 2nd outfit: 2p color changes his robe to his MK1 dark blue. The symbol on his upper back is now outlined in silver instead of gold. His hair is slightly lighter; a tad more white.

Baraka - 1st outfit: 2p color changes his shirt from white to a dirty tan/light brown. 2nd outfit: 2p color changes his metal body armor from light bronze to dark silver, the glowing spots on his armor are now red instead of orange, his pants are deeper black.

Kabal - 1st outfit: 2p color changes his shirt and coat to black, his pants to gray, the lights on his armor are now light purple, the bandages on his forearms are darker. 2nd outfit: 2p changes his shirt to black, his pants to olive green, the glowing lights on his armor are now light purple.

Raiden - 1st outfit: 2p changes his shirt to deep red. 2nd outfit: 2p does almost nothing -- changes the armor to a deeper, darker black. Very hard to tell to the two apart. VERY BAD job on this one, NRS.

Sheeva - 1st outfit: 2p changes her bikini to blue, as well as the cloth on her forearms and shins to blue. 2nd outfit: 2p = all cloth that was red is now blue.

Quan Chi - 1st outfit: 2p changes the cloth on his loin sash, butt sash, shoulder strap, and top of the gloves to dark blue instead of dark green. Very hard to tell them apart. 2nd outfit: 2p changes his shirt and loin sash to deep purple. I think this looks really good on him.

Cyber Sub-Zero - The only way to change his look is for a second player to pick him. You cannot change his color as player 1. Player 2 will get armor that is very deep sapphire blue.

There you have it, folks,. Hope this little guide helps those who were curious but did not want to take the time. Some fighters got some nice 2p color changes, such as Jax, Cage, Reptile, Stryker, Nightwolf and Shang Tsung. Others got very, very lazy 2p that were not even worth the time, or minimal effort, such as Raiden's alt 2p, Jax's alt 2p, Quan Chi main 2p, Sonya main 2p, Nightwolf main 2p, etc.

You should look closer, Balkan. Jax's alt gets a camo pattern on his pants.

the difference is so slight and so hard to tell, despite the camo. the color is exactly the same for 1p and 2p pants, and the camo color choice is almost the same color, too. it would have been great if they had changed the pants to a light gray with darker gray, or black/white, camo design.

I've used start to select characters in MK games for as long as I can remember because of getting the alt costume/color doing it that way. Never occurred to me to do it otherwise heh.

I can play as Red Raiden again. I love it.
I think this can work in challange tower too so long as you pick alternate colors in arcade first then quit and go to a challenge tower mission.

I just saw Stryker's alt. 2P color, it is awesome. When I first saw the alt (1P) I thought this would look way better with darker armor and pants, sure happy they put that in 2P.

Agreed. Stryker's standarda lt color is just has too much blue. It's too bright. I think his 2nd Color for his alt is perfect.

And I freakin love the 2nd color for Reptile's alt. Grey scales, with dark teal clothe is amazing. I've always thought Grey scales would be perfect for Reptile. Better than unoriginal, boring green. I think He should always have these grey scales, but keep green or teal as the color of his clothing.

I agree. The problem is too much green going on with the current default Reptile; green blood, green skin, green special attacks, green clothing, etc. His 1p color scheme for his alt costume ruins the costume because the green on the V armor matches too close to his skin. You cannot even see the nice gold snake trim. However, giving him gray skin, teal armor mixed with gold snakes as trim = an awesome Reptile that stands out better. People should choose 1p version and 2p version of Reptile's alt in practice mode to see how much better the 2p alt looks.

No red Sonya?

How disappointing.

Sonya's main outfit barely changes colors at all from 1p to 2p. It is lazy they did not change the color of her leather pants to red. As is, you can barely tell them apart. Her alt 1p and 2p are easier to tell apart, but the peach/orange hair on 2p is a negative.
