I think it should be like once you finish story mode, you can go on Sub-zero's Char. selection and press R1 or something and then it switches to Noob. For example like in MkVsDc when you choose Darkseid or Shao Kahn ect..
That way we can have both Noob and Sub-zero. glasses

If the answer was "classic sub-zero" and not "elder sub-zero" it could be an ambiguous answer. It could refer to the older brother, the first one, or it could refer to the classic sub-zero that you have seen on every game except for the first one, he is a classic, the elder one only appeared once as sub-zero. And the guy was elusive about if there would be 2 sub-zeros, so it could be an ambiguous answer only to increase the interest on the game.

I've read the EGM article, which has bios of the 8 confirmed characters, summing up their stories of the original time line. It confirms quite clearly the Sub-Zero we've been seeing is the elder one.

Not to be confused with his near-identical brother, this blue-garbed assassin appeared early in Mortal Kombat, on a mission from the Lin Kuei to assassinate Shang Tsung....

It goes on to describe his being killed by Scorpion and cameo in UMK3.

The bios don't give any information about what the characters' new plots in the game will be though, so what the elder Sub-Zero is doing is this game is still highly debatable. Maybe he's just there for his MK1 reference and still dies. Maybe he's be set up to be the official Sub-Zero of this time line. Maybe him and Zebron are plotting to overthrow OrderRealm and turn it into a giant Wal-Mart.

Nice! I like the short bios, just like MK1.

What did his full bio say?

"Not to be confused with his near-identical brother, this blue-garbed assassin appeared early in Mortal Kombat, on a mission from the Lin Kuei to assassinate Shang Tsung. Before he could accomplish his assignment, however, he met his demise at the hands of Scorpion, who was seeking revenge of his own. This death did not stop him from reappearing with the name "Classic Sub-Zero" as one of three un-lockable ninjas in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Despite his brief reign within the Mortal Kombat universe, Sub-Zero remains one of the most recognizable characters in the franchise."

Keep in mind all 8 bios are just recaps of the characters' stories up to this point in the franchise: no info is given on what will be done with their story in the new time line. Either that or Johnny Cage's story is written and spoken for up to the next Armageddon, and exactly the same.

lol looks like I was reading it wrong. I wonder if his little brother will be in the game. I think he has a big chance making the cut.

I'm thinking that both the elder and younger Sub-Zero are going to be in. They might might want to make both Sub-Zero's into the Ryu and Ken of the franchise. Giving them mostly the same special moves (The younger might get the Ice Shower and Icy Shoulder), but with very different attacks and combo's. I'm thinking since they are going for a more linear story mode even those who die in the story will be included, so Scorpion still going to kill Elder Sub-Zero. Though it might be later then the first Mortal Kombat.

But Ryu and Ken are looking different... I would prefer the Noob storyline

I'm pretty sure that NetherRealm Studios knows not to make identical characters. They would most likely give the younger Sub-Zero his MK3 costume. Which is a lot more different then the head swap and color change that Ryu and Ken are.

There is also no reason for Noob Saibot not to appear. After Sub dies in the story you can unlock Noob Saiboot. I do hope they change his name though along with Kitana, so she will stop being Princess Filthy.

But if this BIOS were just recaps by the site, it still could be confusing: Like I said the word "classic" doesn't mean "elder", and it could still refers to the classic sub-z you have seen on every game, and not classic as classic because it was the first one. I still thinks it was thrown by the guy who was interviewed just to give some chaos.

Then if the site interpreted it as it is the elder one, then they put there the recap from elder subby.

The bios a recap of the elder Sub-Zero's story. Did you even read it? I posted it.

Y'know, I think there's a misunderstanding that these "bios" are taken straight from the new game.

They're just character summaries EGM did as part of their article.
You know this makes me wonder... A lot of people were speculating that the younger Sub Zero would be turned into a cyborg. Maybe we get Sub Zero (MK1) and Cyborg Sub Zero (the younger one.. MK2/MK3)

@Obreck Yes, I know it were posted by the site, this was my point, this weren't official bios, so it hasn't been confirmed that this sub-zero is the elder one as the word "classic" can be used to refer the elder one or the one with more appareances. It was just the site who interpreted it as elder subby and posted this recap of him. The guy who interviewed the MK staff guy got "the classic one" as response, si it doesn't confirm anything.

It wasn't posted by a site, fellar. It was included in an article by EGM in their magazine covering the game. I hardly doubt that they'd fuck that up.

I'm not explaining well what I try to say (sorry I'm not native english speaker). The guy who made the article said that when he asked about it, the response was "the classic one" and with this info he made the article, it was what I was refering to in my posts. So my point was about the interpretation of "classic one".

Ah, that explains it. Let me clear up my message also:

I was talking about a completely different article, the recent EGM magazine article of the new MK. It backs up the Brazilian interviewer's claim, stating quite clearly this Sub-Zero is not to be confused with his brother and is the Sub-Zero killed by Scorpion in the original time line.

Just to make sure communications are not confused again: there are TWO official confirmations that its the elder Sub-Zero. The Brazilian site and EGM magazine.

What is still up for debate: what will happen to the elder Sub-Zero in the new time line. It is still very plausible he is killed by Scorpion again or dies in some other manner. It is also plausible he will survive and become the official Sub-Zero of this time line. It is all up in the air.

Thanks for the info, I though it was only the brazilian article, but if another magazine interviewed someone else and they got the same answer then I think I can't argue about the word "classic" :P

Anyway, I don't know how two nearly identical characters would fit in a fighting game, I like younger subby story a lot, but with that said, I see a lot of potential on Elder subby story if he survives and becomes the force of good he was supossed to be with all the mythologies stuff. It's a pitty that to develop a new story for him, his younger brother's story would be affected negatively :(
