@Jaded, I understand you wont tell us but, could you MAYBE tell us if that character fits the sillouette (possibly, depending on the design) or if the sillouette is just a generic one?

So, uh, yeah.

Well, I completely missed ErmacMK5's prior post about it not being a boss character. Good thing someone referenced it, as I was about to make a big old conspiracy theory list eliminating everyone but Motaro. But after a bit of sleuthing, I think I've found the answer, following ErmacMK5's advice about looking at Ed's tweets.


So, what do we know?

-It are having teh pen0r. Dudes only.

-It is not a boss, nor a guest character.

Ed systematically responded to interrogations on Twitter with jokey 'Uh-Ohs' regarding the following characters: Tremor, Bo Rai Cho, Cyber-Smoke, Shujinko. I'm taking those as denials.

Also:

RT @Sektor_Systems people r asking 4 tremoris there a reason Y U won't put him in? Noobde: Yes, cuz there are many more known MK characters.

Considering the implication that the character is well-known, I feel safe in eliminating the likes of Daegon from the list. He just doesn't have the supporters, either, and it doesn't help that MKA carries with it a stigma of being, well, bad. I don't think they'll want to remind people of that game if they can help it.

Then there's the fact that on June 21, Paulo Garcia (Lead Designer at NRS, for those who don't know) gave us the following via Twitter:

@Dark_Raiden if u get 2mil ppl to buy the dlc season pass, I'll stop what I'm doing and make Cyber Smoke.

I work in gaming QA. One month isn't near enough time to build a character from the ground up and have him ready to go. Way too much playtesting's needed, and Ed was hinting about Skarlet nearly half a year ago (the leg); these characters by all rights have been in the works for a while. It isn't Cyber-Smoke.

And then...

This one surprised me to read a bit. He's mocking a perceived low number of Havik fans. I'd always thought Havik was pretty damned popular.


My conclusion is thus:

...Nowhere on Ed's Twitter do I see a single retweet or mention of Reiko, apart from it being part of one tweeter's username. Call me a lunatic, but I like to read between the lines. I think it's him.

If this is the case, well...it works. I had other choices first, but Reiko's not too awful. He's the subject of a ten year helmet argument so he's definitely well known, and does seem to have quite the following. Could be worse.

Although I'm skeptical that guy has a source who knows the mystery character, if the silhouette is indeed a decoy, then surely that eliminates Reiko, as Reiko is the character who would have matched the silhouette the most...
