As I said at the beginning of this thread, I'd prefer if the male and female characters all wore clothes that fit their profession or just more intricate designs in general.

The only characters that I can understand is like Mileena or something, but nobody else really has an excuse (male or female) as nobody has personality traits that lend themselves to dressing provocatively to lure in unsuspecting victims.

I know this. Now, round up more pictures of Kenshi's side-balls and prepare for battle. grin

Really though, I would like to open up a serious conversation about how we view men, whether sexually or not, in entertainment. I brought this subject up in the K-a-k threads but the conversation never really fleshed out more than a few posts.

As you can see in my signature, I think the naked body should never be looked at negatively, though I despise when it is exploited. Come to think of it, I've had a man's bare ass in my sig for weeks now and have had no complaints. Success! Hehehe...

I'm with the rational folks who say if it makes sense, sure.

Jax, Kano, Liu Kang and Johnny Cage are showing off their rockin' torsos, and *most* of the men show off their arms,
but it doesn't make as much sense for a character like Stryker to be dressed in a revealing outfit, as built as he may be.

Several male characters in SFIV have topless mains or alts,
but others, like Guile, always maintain a level of clothing that is (more or less) appropriate for one in their station.

Plenty of the Ninja Dudes could get away with topless alts just as well as Ryu and Bison do, but I doubt NRS is going to, uh, swing that way.

The Japanese are *much* less afraid of appreciating bodies of the same sex than most Amercians are, and it's mostly American (or other Western) males buying the game :-\

I would be fine if they made a new character that dresses up that way.

I just can't imagine any of the other males doing it.

So, what should be discussed first?

Howz about instead of sexually displaying them, how about a male that 'needed to be saved' something like I guess Kitana in later MKs. And a female is the dominant one.

Or we could talk sex again..

I'm all for switching the gender roles as well. I think that is one the things I want to represent the most when it comes to creativity. Men we create are not bound by these idiotic social rules that force them to be uber butch testosterone factories. Women are not walking vaginas that cry a lot. Gender roles infuriate me and should be abolished entirely.

Allow me to be of service then. I'll guide you to a far away place where all the trolls live happily in fields of trollflowers.. Would you prefer to ride on my back or that I walk you on a leash? Either way, I'll try not to grope you too much. grin

My word sometimes I can be creepy.

@Harle. Which MK characters would fit the opposite roles?

Based on characterization, I think Sheeva could be a dominant female. It is stereotypical in a way, but I think she fits the best. But, she really is only concerned with her people, so interactions with other would be limited.

An alternate choice would be Ashrah, or Nitara..

If you really want to discuss that, i can tell you that i wouldn't like it, as i never really liked that Kitana was transformed into a princess in distress.

But i really think this topic is far more interesting

PD: I'm doing a little search on deviant art to find more concepts like the Rain one to post here. I'm not having luck, but i guess i'll find one eventually :P

My Opinion: It's okay for guys to show they still have skin and a face.

My Response to this thread: It is not okay for men to be dressed like girls.

That is all.

I think many of the women could easily become dominant. Mileena was already a dominant female in Deception, and if Kitana ever comes back, she could easily take charge and step out of the shadow of a man. Sheeva needs to stop being a helper immediately and be the powerful woman she is supposed to be. I want them to bring her back in full force next time, in charge of herself, working for herself, and tearing the skin off any man who gets in her way.

As for men, some of them are already somewhat submissive, like Reptile, but they submit only to stronger men like some kind of pack mentality. I feel like it would take a male character who is mysterious and not very fleshed out, otherwise it would be out of character for them to not be so hyper butch. Rain comes to mind, because we really have seen very little of his personality and I hope to see him taking Tanya's side in the next MK. I would want Rain to have to depend on Tanya, and perhaps their alliance could even occur because she saves him from something... I don't know, I'm rambling on that one.

...(queen of trolls? Something really must be done so people stop assuming I'm a woman.)

True that this thread wasn't about being gay at all, people suddenly turned it into that kind of direction. Even when Queve clearly stated that this isn't about being gay, people thought it was and started bashing stuff like that.

It's kind of a dumb to think that if they made a male character that had on revealing clothes that he would be gay. But I guess thats what most people would assume. Who knows, there could already be a gay character anyway. Only a few of the characters have ever stated or been written to be in some form of relationship, so the others could be up for debate. (I vote that Kano is really gay, his anger comes from not being able to accept it! haha)...ah fantasies smile

The one who said that they should cover up the females instead of stripping down the males is right, they are supposed to be assasins, military, etc... (in an alternate it doesnt really matter, but to the Rain image in the OP level its kinda too much)

The only ones that should be without clothes are Mileena (old timeline: inferiority complex, new timeline: she is just slutty) and Skarlett (being soaked in blood makes her stronger)
