I think it looks awful, like some bad fanart or something. The render on the official site is MUCH better and much more befitting in my opinion.

I'm actually really starting to warm up to Kornrow Kahn. I like how slim his helmet seems to look now.

The artwork looks bad indeed, I agree. Somehow it doesn't fit MK. But the same costume ingame (which is shown in the challenge tower video) doesn't look bad at all. In fact I didn't even notice Shao Kahn was wearing that costume when I first watched the video.
