I'm tired of MK's robotic animations.

Can't they change their method already.

Very impressive. Nice job NRS.

The best thing about this is that these trials and this challenge involves in-game action, as opposed to just having a mini-game as its own entity like Chess, Puzzle, Kart racing, etc.

This could really be a new staple to the franchise, or at least I hope so. This is just the kind of mode that's been long overdue. Though, the rewards will hopefully be worth it other than just koins.

I really love Jax failing the Test your Sight. I wonder if there is more punishments instead of just Nightwolf's tomahawk, like if you fail you get hit by Kitana's fans, Mileena's Sais, get shot by Stryker, etc.

I want Mileena's Teddy Bear if Scorpion doesn't want it.

Isn't it ironic that motion capturing human movements comes across as faker than just animating the models directly?

I agree, Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3 have incredible animation ( Spider Man in MvC 3 comes to mind ) so I don't see why they waste their time with that stiff ass Mocap.

The animations aren't robotic. It's alot smoother than it has ever been.
Perhaps it is you who should change your perception of it. You seem to be stuck in your way of thinking and opiniating of the MK franchise due to past games.

They're a little robotic. They're better. And they are a lot smoother than they've ever been. But they're still robotic. And I'm sure you'll say I'm stuck in the past too. But I've played a lot of fighting games. And I know that animation always trumps mo-cap.

YOU'RE STUCK IN THE PAST!!!

Nah, just kidding. ;P
I compare this MK with Super Street Fighter 4 when it comes to animations, and I think it looks very alike, and I don't think it looks robotic. However, I do feel like some of the nay-sayers judge this game due to the history of MK games instead of looking at this as an individual game. And I find that a shame.

A fighting game that seems robotic to me in terms of animations would be the Tekken series. And I think this MK game looks alot better animation wise than Tekken 6.

Guys that's Cyborg Smoke on the Challenge Tower. From what I can tell his armour is different to Cyrax's.

I just saw it too. If you pause it at the right time at the 0:08 mark, he looks incredible.

Guys looks at their masks it's the exact same......it is not smoke, it's Cyrax.

Looks the same to me, heres a comparision photo.

Now it could be a zombie cyrax.

Aren't the Cyborgs technically zombies already since they're for all intents and purposes dead?

Have you seen Cyrax's MK Gold ending? If not, let me explain:
Sonya and Jax helps Cyrax regaining his humanity, his "soul" which means he's regained his fully free will.
So no, I wouldn't call them zombies. Just loss of humanity which can be regained, but it can be discussed if it is too late for Smoke and Sektor.

I know about Cyrax's MK Gold ending. Its hard to really consider Cyrax and Sektor [I'll leave Smoke at for the moment since his fate is up in the air atm as far as this new timeline is concerned] alive since the Lin Kuei practically killed them to make them Cyborgs. Plus this the 1-3 storyline so they are still soul less at this point.

Well, they may not be "alive" as such, but they aren't really dead either. And to become a zombie you need to die first, then be resurrected by magical means as a soulless body which is still rotting and decomposing... and as far as I know, Sektor's and Cyrax's bodies are alive and well under all that armour.

Cyrax and Sektor where never "killed" for the program, I just took from it that they where artificially enhanced and have robotics keeping their brain and such alive. As seen with Cyrax, he still has his face and such intact. Kinda reminiscent of Robocop.

I'm really hoping that Kintaro will be in this. I hope they go by his original look in MK2 and not by his MKA look. I hated the anamorphic tiger feet and all that. Back when MK2 was in arcades, Kintaro was one scary bastard. I want him to go back to that look and not look like a plush teddy bear.

I'm impressed by the game modes, game play, backgrounds especially. The challenge tower looks awesome. This looks a fun challenge. Very difficult to complete the mission for the major awards. I love the fucking screen upside down, and love how they don't even care when their arms or head fall. this game is going to be epic! This is going to be the best fucking of history of Mortal kombat.

'Bit off topic, and probably me just being a spelling Nazi, but why does it seem nobody in the comments are capable of spelling the word "sight"?

In order for the automation to work, It seems like the host HAS to be alive. Otherwise, they could just automate fresh corpses.

It seems the goal of the automation is to impose limitations on their brain activity, which kinda makes sense. That way, the cyborgs can be controlled by their programming but at the same time be able to intelligently interact with others. Also, I imagine keeping them alive allows their original martial arts skills to be accessible to them. You can't really program something like that.

If this isn't the case, why not just make robots? It would be a hell of a lot easier and cheaper.
I make robots, and it is neither easy nor cheap, good sir!grin

I don't know if anyone already mentioned this, but I just watched the video again and I noticed Shao Kahn is wearing the same costume as on the old render on the official site. Despite the fact that it didn't really look good in the render, it doesn't look bad ingame imo.
