It's kinda funny how people complained about not being able to play as Skarlet, Kenshi, or Rain online, and how they stated comp. packs should mandatory and those that didn't download the packs shouldn't be allowed to play online, and now those same people are saying they won't download the Freddy pack bc they don't like him (or they're complaining about being forced to download it).


Has anyone thought that maybe the patch that was released yesterday include the Sub-Zero costumes for free so that people that didn't care about Freddy WOULDN'T have to download the actual compatibility pack? Who says Freddy's compatibility was even included in the patch?

Not going to lie. I get very annoyed when people refuse to get the compatibility patch. I paid to play as a character whenever I want. Just because you dont like him, doesnt mean I should have my use of him limited.

IMO people who refuse to get the pack/patch are no better than ragequitters.

Quoted for truth. Selfish bastards will always be selfish bastards. I was telling Boon on twitter how almost everyone wanted to skip out on the comp pack before freddy even came out and he settled that really quick by putting the comp pack in a mandatory patch.

OWNED. I will be owning these scrubs with freddy online now just to watch and record the rage quits. I wasn't planning on buying him but he proved to be more badass then MK2 cage and MK3 stryker on the "insult your opponent with crap character" list

To compare anybody not interested in a character to a ragequitter is absolutely deplorable. They are in no way shape or form even remotely alike.

A rage quitter plays a game, a game which they can win or lose depending on their skill levels, and throws a tantrum and leaves a game prematurely when the match doesn't go their way. They're a bad sport for not having the respect towards the other player to even finish a match because god forbid somebody steps on their precious ego and defeats them in a fighting game. To rage quit from a fight not only demeans what the game is about, it's also insulting and rude to the other player who played a fair game. It's selfish, inconsiderate and remarkably childish to throw a tantrum and leave a match early just because a fair game isn't going your way.

Not choosing to download optional data on to your own personal hard drive so you can enjoy the product the way you have it is a completely different matter.

When I bought this game, I bought it for myself. I didn't buy it for other people and I certainly won't consider other people with my DLC choices. If I want Rain, I'll get Rain. If I want Skarlet, I'll get Skarlet. If I didn't want Kenshi in my own personal copy, I wouldn't get him or even get his compatability pack if I've no interest in seeing him. And if I have no interest in Freddy, a character who even before he was announced as a guest DLC I had very little time for, I'll be damned if I'm going to be guilted or forced into downloading his compatability data if I plain and simply don't want to experience playing against him in Mortal Kombat. If that limits your choices, so be it, but at the end of the day it's my playing experience I'm most concerened about, not yours.

I'm also doing this because I fail to see how patches that fix desynch issues and lag issues are any less important than making the compatability for a guest character compulsary. What's stopping NRS from bringing out compulsary patches that actually allow the online experience to run much more smoothly in general? How is a guest character more important than the months of online issues fans have been complaining about? I refuse to make a character I've no interest in a priority, not when there are other things that need fixing. As it is I'm happy with my copy of MK and as selfish as that sounds, that's all I care about.

Well, look at that *almost* everyone came around and is downloading one of the best characters in the game.

Well, I only wanted the two suits. I downloaded the "compability pack" - no mention of Freddy of about 80 mb.
I got the two suits, but also got Freddy ._. which I didn't want.
Is it impossible to get the suits without Freddy? And is it easy to delete him somehow? I play on 360.

Looks like it may be mandatory (at least on the PS3). The newest patch 1.4 (or which ever number it is) actually includes the Klassic Retro Cyber & MK3 unmasked Sub-zero, and I would think this is basically the compatibly pack with compatibility to fight Freddy as well.

I think NRS realized they where going to get a lot of flack for putting freddy in the game to begin with, and a lot of players won't even download the comparability pack, so that players who actually did want to use him could. So it looks like NRS maybe be forcing the capability pack down everyone throat regardless for Freddy.

Which is why I didn't download the comp pack and don't plan to either.

Because that is asking a bit too much.

I am glad they made it mandatory this time, the people who would actively choose not to download it are so arrogant. "If I don't like something, no one else should either" Is a horrible mentality for a video game fan.

Freddy is, as expected, is a solid charatcer too. He has a pretty good answer for most everything and one of the best projectiles in the game. I've played ten ranked matches as him today and won all of them.

They should make all the capability packs mandatory, and then have separate playlist like most FPS, to let users filter out the DLC if they don't wish to play against it. Just because certain players don't want to be exposed to the DLC when they play online, shouldn't mean that it ruins the experience for those players that do want to use it, because that is what these capability packs (and DLC) have done.

The capability packs shouldn't be a pick and choose what you do and don't want. "If your going to partake in the capability packs you either have all of it, or none of it."

If pay 5 bucks for a character, I should be allowed to use that character whenever I please. Not my problem you have insecurities.

It's not insecurities. It's personal taste. If people don't like it, that doesn't make them any less than you just because you do actually like it. I don't understand how that's such a big pill for some of you to swallow. At the end of the day, Freddy is a product. And if people aren't interested in the product, what makes it fair to force it on them?

I don't look down on any Freddy fan. You're welcome to like whoever you like, but at least respect mine (and other fans) decision to not be interested in playing as or against him. There's plenty of fans out there who will have him and his compatabilty pack that you can play against.

I bought the game, I decide what I want to do with it. It's not my fault people want to waste their money on FK. I can't tell you NOT to buy FK, and you can't tell me to get the compatibility pack. Simple as that.

To me, FK would ruin a good gaming experience. That's why I won't buy him or get the pack. And as said, I do not care about the retro outfits, so it's no real loss for me. And really, there's nothing you can do about it.

I can't demand people to get the packs for Skarlet and Rain either, nor have I done so and I would never dream about doing so. So yeah, it's a shame I can't use them online against some people, but it's not something I will whine and bitch about on some forum.

Calling people petty, pathetic and saying they are on the same level as ragequitters etc. won't really help either. It's not like I will go "OH YEAH?! WELL, FUCK YOU! Now I am downloading the compatibility pack, so jokes on you!!!", because, seriously... who reacts like that?

Anyways, I could have taken the advantage of playing MK all day today since I was home sick from work... But online hasn't been awesome lately the last few times I've played it. I'll probably get my hands on the game fairly soon to where i can get Freddy and see everything for myself.

I'm putting my money into something I am interested in, and if someone has an issue with that, then oh well they have their issues. I could really care less what people do with their money. But honestly, all this ridiculous hate towards people and such, get over it.
