Some of you guys remind me of this friend I used to have who would always want to go and see incredibly shitty movies. And then when I would tell him no he would get mad. When I reminded him he was more than free to go see them whenever he wanted, just count me out, he would get mad because he didn't want to go to the movies by himself...which I guess is considered the same as playing a video game offline by some people nowadays. And I would tell him just as I'm telling some of you, that's not my fucking problem.

Honestly, above all it is NRS' game. They put Freddy in it, and THEY decided to make the patch mandatory for online play... so get over it or play something else.

I don't understand why so many people are being spoiled little kids and not buying Freddy just because he's a guest and it's not staying 'True' to the MK series. Hope you all realize that the success of Freddy will more than likely determine the possibility of future DLC characters, or better yet, future DLC Mortal Kombat characters. So basically, the more of you that don't buy Freddy, the less likely we will see more DLC. Pull your heads out of your asses and support MK DLC. rant over.

Okay. I tried to download the compatibility pack without getting Fready. But I think because I downloaded the season pass, I got Fready anyway. A bit of a drag, but oh well.

This is just my opinion, but I don't see how not wanting to play against Freddy is unlike not wanting to play against an MK character. I for one would be psyched if I never saw Kabal or Johnny Cage again. I would do a dance in my bedroom if Quan Chi wasn't in the game. I'm not going to throw a fit if somebody pics them online. Or in the computer. That's just the way it freaking goes. Tons of other games have had guest characters that you can't avoid playing against, and I've never heard this much bitching about it.

I've never heard bitching this intense about the various guests in the Soul Calibur games. And, honestly, I couldn't stand playing against pretty much every new MK character since DA. Still played the damn games.

If you guys hate Freddy that much, then don't buy him. But the patch is manditory this time. So if you run into him online or in ladder, suck it up, and take out your frustration on the bastard, beat him, and move on.

Three things:

1 Your post is uncalled for and extremely inflamatory I've already warned several people about the rudeness and snide remarks. You can voice your opinion on the matter without being rude.

2. I'm not going to spend my money on something I DO NOT want, I'm not telling other people what to do with their money and nobody should or will tell me what to do with mine. People bought Freddy and are enjoying him and that's fine by me, I choose to enjoy my game without him, people from both sides should stop telling people what to do.

3. Freddy isn't the only character that DLC sales will be looked at, they have 3 other characters and a costume pack that factor into that, which is 80% of their DLC, whereas Freddy is only 20% of that number, so if one character doesn't sell well, but the other 80% does, it's not going to make or break future DLC possibilities.

Reading this thread has just kind of affirmed one of my beliefs. The internet is full of Ayn Rands. Ayn Rands, everywhere. I'm a firm believer that the people who pay for the content are in the right, by the way. They're the ones shelling out fiscal support for the company, who are responsible for sunning the whole online shebang. Honestly, if I were NRS, I'd pretty much go by the policy of "you want to discourage people from giving us money by nullifying their purchase of our DLC? Fine. You can't play anymore." To be honest, I'm still a little surprised they haven't taken this approach. Well, never mind. I forgot they did with the last patch.

Problem with this mentality is that when you play online its not just YOU and YOUR game. You are voluntarily joining the community just as these people chose to buy the characters. You should not have any choice in what character ANOTHER person plays. When you go to that online option you avail yourself to the wants and play style of everyone else online.

Comparability packs should be mandatory to play online.

If you want to play the game exactly how you want you should play by yourself where that is a guaranteed possibility.

To the people that don't want Freddy(or the compatibility pack), then don't get it! No one is forcing you by gun point to get it.

The people that are getting it or already have the compatiblility pack, that is fine too.

Very well said Whopper... just one problem. It seems like the compatibility pack is mandatory this time around, so I am forced to get it. Good news for FK fans, bad news for me.

I don't mind if the packs are mandatory, but then ALL the packs should become mandatory. If I am forced to see FK be picked when playing online, then I would want to be able to pick Rain or Skarlet whenever I go online. Anything else is just unfair.

its not mandatory on xbox. i DL'd the CP and i fought 5 freddys now since i have SZ mk1 outfit and i dont use CSZ. im going to delete it from my HD

I was planning on getting the Compatibility Pack but not Freddy. I'm not interested in playing as Freddy but I don't want to take away anybody's right to play as him. Unfortunately NRS/WB made this an all or nothing pack so I won't be getting either [Atleast not for awhile. I have some other issues to deal with atm {My Car}]

Every pack should be mandatory, just like most online games.
