eh... i prefer mk9's blades, the DA/A blades look homemade, like she just went into the kitchen and bolted them onto a fan. Mk9's look like they were actually made for the fan. I agree with the pattern being to plain though, but since the fans are going to be moving fast most of the time i wonder if they'd just look like a mess if they had a more elaborate design to them.

I just can't get over that...angle, bend, thing near the base of the blades. Why does it do that? It makes them look awkward and fakey and I can't even articulate why I find it so wrong specifically enough to satisfy me and that frustrates me, which makes it even worse.

Indeed, Kitana's new fans just look too out of shape. The MKDA fans were atleast stylish. I don't want them to go back to her original paperfolded fans from the older games, but they could at least make her fans look good.

I feel the exact same way, that little arc at the bottom of the blade drives me crazy, it makes them look so awkward. I think the blades should be much more narrow and slightly shorter coming off the top of the fan, and they would look better.

I think that's there because she's doing more physical attacks with the fans this time. It looks like she can really get a grip on these fans as opposed to the last set where her grip looks a little loose.

Agreed. Although to me the MK9 fans look like they have some kind of metal or something between them. It's definitely not fabric like the last set.

I agree that her current fan design isn't the best. The part that bothers me the most is the lack of blades. I just feel her fans look like a shoddy, welding project. I took a few minutes in photoshop and played around with an idea. I doubled the blades on one fan and not the other so you can compare. I think it makes them look better.


I added a design to the material since people liked that detail. I tried not to make it too prominant, because it clashes with the patterns on her outfit.
I just looked at the MKDA design and noticed it was more of a border than a whole pattern overlayed. So I tried that. I'll spare you a big picture. Heh. Sorry if this is getting too long.

I still don't like the boning between her fingers though. I would probably rather a normal, steel fighting fan but maybe with a more pronounced edge? I don't know.

KItana's fans are supposed to be all steel, or some kind of metal. Also, your update to her fans is awesome. That looks much better, I wish they looked like that with the designs and 9 blades, although I do like the boning on the bottom of the blade, it gives them a little design as well, I still think the blades should be slimmer, get rid of the little arc at the bottom of the blade. The bottom picture looks the best with only a border of design on the top of the fan. You should try to get that picture to Ed Boon somehow, twitter? I dont know if they answer people or not, I dont really do the twitter thing.




I think a variation of this model^ would look pretty cool also, bigger, bluer, some designs and it would be perfect.

wdm6789, those fans from the pic you posted are good, but like you said, Kitana's should be a bit bigger. I'd actually like them in silver/metallic color with just touches of blue.

This is so much better than her current ones. I'm still not too fond of how the blades look like, but it is definately an improvement. Well done. ^^
