Lets Hear It For the Voice Actors
Mortal Kombat is a great game, one with great gameplay, great moves, great finishers, great stages, a great story, and great characters.
And this game successfully brought many of them to life in a way they'd never been able to before. Much of that was due to the very subtle, nuance, and effective animation the NRS managed to pull off. But much of it must be contributed to the phenomenal vocal performances the cast poured into the game.
And I'd like to take a moment to stop and recognize these individuals, some of whom I'd never heard of before, while others made me jump up and go "I KNOW that voice!".
I'm just going to mention a few standouts I enjoyed, though feel free to mention your own and what you enjoyed about their performance.
Lani Minella - SHEEVA, SINDEL - You might also recognize her as the voice of Ivy in Soul Calibur. She definitely has a very regal, sultry voice, one befitting both the Queen of Edenia, and one of the Shokan's most honorable and respected warriors.
Beau Billingslea - QUAN CHI - Most known as the voice of Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop. Quan Chi had that perfect, smooth, cocky deep voice, very James Earl Jones-esque, that's both slithery and cold as ice. Great performance.
Richard Epcar - RAIDEN - I know him best as Batou from Ghost in the Shell, but he's got a laundry list of voice work. He definitely gave Raiden an excellent mix of godlike power, authority, and wisdom, but also much pathos and emotion. It may have been the most difficult role to perform given how it was written, and regardless of Raiden's role in the story, his voice work was exceptional.
Michael McConnohie - KANO, ERMAC - The range this voice actor has is amazing. He's also the voice of Seth in Street Fighter IV and Astaroth in Soul Calibur.
Rhasaan Orange - CYRAX, KINTARO - I'm not even a fan of Cyrax, but his chapter in story mode was, IMO, one of the best ones, with hints of conflict, humor, and lots of drama and range as Cyrax undergoes his crisis of conscience.
I feel bad not mentioning others (and I would, but then this post would stretch on forever). I didn't hate any performance. Johnny Cage was amazing. Sonya's was perfect. Liu Kang's was diverse and effective. Jade's was sassy and sensible. There were just no bad apples.
And I think we can all agree... we've come a long way from this:
I'MSOGAY!!!!

Kitana and Mileena aren't the same VA. Karen Strassman is Kitana and Stephanie Sheh (massively playing against type) voices Mileena.

I thought Cyrax's voice actor did a great job, as well as Sheeva/Sindel's V.A., and Raiden. Johnny wasn't too bad, either.

Oh god that was so hilariously bad.
I never noticed the "I'm so gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay" until now.
But yeah, the voice acting in this game is probably the best in any MK to date.
It's not perfect, and it sounds stupid at times, but it's a lot better than any other MK, and a lot of other games for that matter.

Definitely the best in the series. It certainly helps to have actual "talent" in the cast, of course. haha

I didn't like Quan Chi at all at first, I missed the original MKM:SZ-MKA voice. But it's grown on me, definitely the best actor in the game.
I can't really remember the rest of them. I think I liked Stryker, Jax and Kabal.
Shang Tsung, particularly as an old man, was absolutely horrendous. Sounded like an amateur doing impressions on YouTube. I really wish they'd got Cary Tagawa to do it instead.
Raiden was bland. My favourite Raiden is definitely the guy from Deadly Alliance. It sounded like a deeper, smokier James Remar, and it fit him perfectly. He was also absent from Deception and Armageddon, it's a shame.

Not sure who voiced him, but i found Nightwolfs voice actor to be great. oh ya, same with Reptile.

About Me
Keep dunking your Kenshi breadsticks into your Skarlet sauce, people! The main course isn't coming for a while, and you never know when it's going to be disappointing.

Shang, Shao, Smoke, and pre-burn Kabal were awful.
Other than that, I liked just about everyone else.

Aww, no love for Raiden? Richard Epcar is a fantastic voice actor, and I was filled with joy when I first heard his Raiden.
And nobody's going to mention the Narrator as voiced by Jamieson Price? He was quite an experienced voice actor with roles such as Commander Martin Jigmar in S-Cry-Ed, Chad in Bleach, Lordgenome in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and even Oikawa, the adult human villain from Digimon 02. I thought he did well with his voice as narrating (though, I would have loved for a chance for him to better show his range, maybe narrating events in the story mode).
But yeah, I've loved a high majority of the voice work, the cast was fantastic.
Though...Stephanie Sheh was Mileena?! All her characters were such low voiced, usually meek characters...she was Orihime in Bleach and Hinata in Naruto...honestly, I didn't think she was physically capable of sounding anywhere near Mileena.

I didn't recognize him as Kano or Ermac at all.
That's why when the sound credits came on,I flipped the shit.
Because Michael motherfucking McConnohie is probably my favorite American VA of all time. One only has to hear this to understand why.
I like to think of him as American Norio Wakamoto. :3 I swear, the man has a larynx of gold.

The Fuck?
Hinata from Naruto, Orihime and Isane from Bleach as Mileena? Would be effin' hillarious, if Strassman would not also voice Mileena. Do the credits specify her?

HE VOICED SCHWARZWALD!?!?!?!

It is damned hilarious that Steve freaking Blum voiced Reptile for three hisses. He probably just did it at home and mailed the files in!
McConnohie was astounding as Kano, specifically.
There's not a single cast member that wasn't done to my satisfaction, with the exception of Kahn. Just sounded too raspy, like someone playing a regular tough guy. It doesn't help that Steve Richie left impossibly big shoes to fill.
