You know... that's actually a very interesting point. If Subzero doesn't die at the hands of Scorpion, then he's probably going to be there during the Lin Kuei's betrayal. Or perhaps he'll defect during the MK2 events for reason xyz.

Not endorsing either scenario, but it's definitely food for thought.

I meant possibly Noob-Saibot could come from something other than death. Such as automation or some other event.

But we have seen Sub-Zero, I guess he could have another form...but thats a character spot that could be taken by a different, fresh character.

If Sub-Zero was automated he would still be Sub-Zero. It's not like he would lose his ice powers and gain shadow magic just because he's encased in a shell.

Besides, I really do not think that anything major is going to happen differently, at least on a character-to-character basis. I really think Ed is toying with us, especially with the cyborg suggestion.

It sucks, I was under the presumption that Games Com was more public (at least with MK). I was hoping to awake to a plethora of updates on Cyrax and Kitana (as well as the Belltower and the Desert).

Now we play the waiting game, PAX.

I guess I always assumed that Cyrax was the slimmer more regal one compared to Sektor's more 'tank', destructive and menacing demeanor.

Actually Cyrax is supposed to be the more bulky "tank" one, I just hope they didn't fuck his mask, It better be that predator look.

Meh, I'm over the predator mask. Everyone else gets updated masks every so often, I couldn't be happier that Cyrax got his too. Everyone needs a few deep breaths and to realize change ISN'T bad

I always thought the tank look was more a result of bad or underpaid 3D modelers than purposeful design kind of like Armageddon Sonya's body looking like dick shaft.

ACtually.. from what I see, I like Cyrax a lot!!! I think he looks great!!!

Regarding Kitana, I like the boots, and from what I can see I i=like her hear and face gear. From the other pic I gotta say not a big fan of the rest, but if it's relevant to the storym I'll end up liking it... like if she is forced into that outfit.

What I really dont like though in these pictures are her fans. They look terrible. I never liked the movie style of her fans they used in in DA and on... but these are like a worse version of those.

Agreed, everyone looked like a tank in DA - A. Everyone was out of proportion in the muscle department.

There's nothing canonically or in their designs up until now that says Cyrax is supposed to be bulkier than Sektor or vice-versa. They looked more or less the same in armor thickness in Armageddon. So It's all a matter of opinion.

I've always preferred the POTENTIAL for Human Smoke over what actually played out with Cyber Smoke. Then again, I'll also admit that I freakin hate the cyborgs and thought that they were one of, if not the single worst direction for characters this series has ever made.

As for Human Smoke's potential, there are any number of scenarios that he could be dropped in to where he could succeed.

How about:

The original Sub Zero volunteers for automation and kills his younger brother for resisting the will of the Lin Kuei. Smoke, the best friend of the younger Sub Zero, escapes, but swears vengence on not only Sub Zero, but the Lin Kuei as a whole.

From this point, he could do a few different things: He could go down the path of the younger Sub Zero, become a hero. Perhaps he could resssurect the Shinrai Ryu (though I'm not sure if they need ressurecting, I've always been unclear on what happened to them after Scorpion became a spectre) and lead his former enemies against his former allies.

Perhaps he kills Cyber-Sub Zero and that's how Sub Zero becomes Noob Saibot, who then goes after Smoke. The were allies, one controlling the other in a different reality, but here they become sworn enemies.

I said this about Kabal a while back as far as potential storylines, but what if Smoke somehow found out his future and that this reality isn't what really happened?

Perhaps Smoke becomes a sort of wild card in Raiden's efforts to fix everything. Perhaps he becomes an enemy of Raiden and the forces of good for this reason, thus dividing the loyalties of the younger Sub Zero, who wants to side with Raiden and Liu Kang, but does not wish to become enemies with his best friend.

Maybe those ideas sound decent to you and maybe they sound like crap. If it's the latter, well, sorry, I just thought of them off the top of my head.

But my point is that Smoke does have potential story-wise. At least in my opinion, he does. He still has some great tie-ins with other characters and there are several things that could be done to give him stories that go through other characters as well.

As for his moves, well, I don't see what was so great about him in MK3. He had Scorpion's spear, Sektor's teleport uppercut, an air throw and invisibility. Yeah, no wonder he could turn in to human smoke and have it not look weird or out of place.

I could see them giving him some moves that are smoke based, moves that are ninja based as well as moves that are weapon based. I mean c'mon, he's a ninja. No offense to the MK team, but as many ninjas as they've had in MK, it's not like they've really gone all out in an effort to have very ninja-centric moves. There are still many ideas left to work with.

I'm not going to give a gigantic list of moves, but I'll throw out a few ideas:

Smoke based:

Smoke Cloud (MKD)

Smoke Bomb ( throws it at opponent, if it hits, it blinds the opponent momentarily. Think of it as his equivilant of a freeze type of move).

Smoke Distraction (Throws a smoke bomb, but it pops in front of the opponent's face while Smoke teleports through the ground, pops up behind the opponent)

Smoke Invisibility (MK3) or Smoke Incorporeal (he turns his body in to white smoke, becoming unhittable for a brief moment, about the length of one punch).

Ninja based:

Grappling hook (Allows him to quickly get off the ground and either stay up near the ceiling or fly from one side of the arena to the other)

Blow darts (Ninjas use them, this could be a projectile for him. Perhaps a pro move type special move would be a different kind of dart, where maybe they glow red and you can press a button to make them explode or maybe they glow green and you press a button to release a poison gas that "disorients" your opponent and makes their controls go all wonky for a brief moment)

Ninja throw combinations (you could have several of these, but maybe give him some type of ninja throws, joint locks, breaks etc, maybe they flow from one certain attack and you can chain a few together in quick, rapid succession)

Ninja disguise (well, ninjas are masters of disguise... Maybe in his combos he can change his colors, so to speak, and use one of the other ninjas moves in the game)

Weapon Attacks:

Kusari-Gama (A sickle connected to a chain. This could be used for a spinning move, maybe one that's part of a low/high combo, or maybe he flips the sickle toward the opponent and pulls them back toward him, but only at mid range)

Tanto (a small hand knife, I'd say he could use this in some of his combos to make it more of a signature Smoke attack)

Hanbo (a staff that could have knives at either end or chains at either end. Again, more of a mid combo weapon that he could pull out)

Anyways, this is the type of potential that I see for Human Smoke. This is why I like him more than what I've seen of cyber-smoke. We've been down that road before and while his story was decent, as others have said, it hasn't gone anywhere and probably never will.

I'd rather see a different story for Smoke where he stays human, has one of those types of stories that I meantioned (though hopefully a good deal better than the way I described them) and the move list? Well yeah, there are endless possibilities there.

I know that cyber Smoke has alot of potential for moves as well, but we have two robots already that have a good deal of robot-esque moves. Sure, MK has a TON of ninjas, but I just see more untapped potential on the ninja front than on the robot front.

Well, that... And I hate the idea of robots in MK, even if I don't overly dislike Cyrax and Sektor, I'd still rather see fewer than more. But that's just me. More power to anyone else that likes them more than I do.
