Iike Quan Chi being in the game. I just don't like the same costume used for 4 games straight. plus why would a manipulator from behind the scenes wear something that looks like im going directly confront you. It doesn't seem to fit his scheming personality.

That's not even remotely terrible considering some of the crazy shit Batman has worn over the years.

Fine, I can understand the hate for him having the tattoos that refer to the dragon king. That's sloppy on NRS's part. I think you people are psychotic for getting upset over such a little thing but whatever.
As for the amulet. He's had the real thing since pre MK1. At this point in time Shinnok still thinks he has the genuine amulet and isn't aware that Quan Chi has it instead. So I fail to see the issue with that.
As for his armor. Nobody here can give me an actual reason as to why this particular look is invalid and Quan Chi should be in his more regal attire from MK4 aside from "That's not his original design, he shouldn't look like that."
From everything I know about the character, there is absolutely no reason he can't have the look he has now aside from the tattoos on his body.

If he wore his current outfit around shinnok don't you think the elder god would notice the amulet on his belt? as for his mk 4 armor. his symbol is spider. as seen in his temple in mkda. his armor further implied that just like how shang tsungs clothes implies his symbol is a snake.
I have heard excuses as to why quan chi is not wearing his armor. some of the excuses are:
its hot in the netherealm or he that he looks like a clown.
He is a sorcerer. he can make it comfortable for himself and should be use to it being a demon formerly. He didn't seem to have a problem with it before mkda.
the other thing is he was tortured by scorpion constantly when he was held captive. its also a metaphor. when a character is stripped of there clothing it means they have lost much power especially if the clothing was elaborate.
As for the clown excuse I don't know what clowns have ever looked like quan chi's mk4 outfit. yes his shirt is puffy, but raiden wore a puffy shirt too. should he be called a clown aswell?
I'd *really* like to think Shinnok would be able to sense the Amulet without even needing to see it. If it's so central to his power, I don't see him falling for the one Quan gave him that still says "Made in Hong Kong" on the back. Of course, he did. That makes him a very foolish evil god, and his clown costume is most appropriate.
I'd like to see Shinnok utterly destroy Quan in the next game for attempting such a moronic scam. Then he needs to finally become the demonic badass he's SUPPOSED to be.

Well he's not wearing the amulet around Shinnok in this game is he? He spends almost the entire length of the game dealing with Kahn, and getting ready for Shinnok's eventual return. Quan Chi isn't a moron, in fact, for all of my hatred of the character, he's probably the smartest player in MK. His plans actually tend to work out more often than not. He isn't going to parade around in front of Shinnok with the genuine amulet. But this story doesn't cover that interaction.
So, once again, why is him having the amulet in this game such a big deal? Shinnok clearly doesn't know any better, he would've spotted the fake he was given by Quan Chi back in Mythologies.
As for his armor implying that his symbol is the spider, I honestly don't buy the excuse that his newer look is any less arachnid with one spiked shoulder strap than it would be with two. Plus I think his face and skin tone do a much better job of getting the point that he's a necromancer across.

You'd like to think that, but the fact is, he did. Shinnok got tricked into wearing a fake all the way to his invasion of Earthrealm where he was able to be beaten by Lui Kang because of it. For an Elder God, the guy's a moron.

There IS one scene in the script where Quan Chi and Shinnok are talking to one another.
So yeah, you'd think Shinnok would be all like "Uh hey, you remember that thing that contains all of my Elder God powers and can set me free from the Netherealm? Yeah...if you still have that, then why is it on your belt and not in my hand?

Yeah, you would think so, but either Quan Chi is really clever, or Shinnok is really fucking thick. He already fell for the fake back in MK:M.
But let's just say that Quan Chi does indeed parade around with Shinnok's amulet in front of him. Shinnok can't really do much in that case anyway. Quan Chi would have his powers, plus he needs Quan Chi to prepare Earth and the other realms for his invasion. And the amulet let's Quan Chi cross realms and avoid having to deal with the elder gods. So either way, Quan Chi has Shinnok by the balls.

A lot of people tend to have trouble with this.
In Mythologies, Sub-Zero stole Shinnok's Amulet from the gods, because Quan Chi hired him to.
After this, Raiden forced Sub-Zero to go to the Netherealm and steal it back before Shinnok has a chance to use it.
Quan Chi made a fake amulet. He gave the fake to Shinnok and SECRETLY kept the real one for himself.

He must be wearing it around shinnok. since the costume they picked is the one with the amulet. I have nbo problem with the amulet on him. it seems rediculous especially in this timeline to be wearing it around so freely.
The thing that made his armor look spider like is his arm spikes he as as well as the red tones on his chest next ot the yin yang which made looked like the symbol on the back of of a black widow. there is symbolism in the things people wear so its not what you see visually that should be considered.
I do apologize if I sounded like I was attacking you in my last post. I mean no disrepect. I just wanted answers for some of the folly on this subject.

Smoke, Razor- that's what makes that whole scenario *utter horseshit* to me. And why I, like Daryui, hope they retcon the shit out of that amulet.
It makes Shinnok look like a fool, but more than that, it makes NRS look like bad storytellers.
If a FALLEN ELDER GOD needs a certain artifact to be at his full potential, he is *not* going to fall for a fake. I'm just not buying it. It's like Frodo bought some replica One Ring from Sky Mall, handed it over to Sauron, and lived happily ever after. Shinnok had no idea the object that *IS* his power was a counterfeit? REALLY??? Sorry, but that's some crappy writing, IMO.

Well, what's a crazy fantasy kung fu fighting game without a few plotholes and some ex machina to make us all go "hey, that's really fucking stupid"? But like I said, with Quan Chi holding the amulet he's got the powers of an elder god at his waist.

A fair point...but on the other hand, maybe it was a really good fake? I mean Quan IS the best sorcerer in the realms. Why couldn't he make one convincing enough to fool the gods?
And who says Shinnok even has any special senses, or how good those senses are? Remember, he was stripped of his godhood when he was banished to Hell. There's nothin' saying he's actually all that powerful, his status as king of Hell is largely the result of Quan putting him on the throne as a puppet ruler.

Is it possible than Quan Chi returned with Raiden?
No one "returned" anywhere. Raiden sent his past self a mental message in form of visions of what's to come. There is absolutely no time-travelling involved at all.
Except for the players.

I'm not sure what's worse though. His appearance or the fact that they are pushing him to replace Shang Tsung. THE Mortal Kombat villain. I have such a love/hate feeling with Quan Chi. He was the only character I liked in MK4 and then they pair him with my favorite character of all time Shang. But now NRS feels he should be the new guy taking over the originator? Hell no. If anything they should just mesh the two together. (Always what i thought the last boss of MKDA should have been.) Behold! Shang Chi.
