You're right, the video wasn't all that bad, granted, it could be a lot better, MK still has miles to go before it reaches the fluidity of games like Soul Calibur and Tekken.

In my eyes, this video had 3 strikes

1) It didn't show anything new

2) It only looks marginally better than previous MK games (I'm not only talking graphics, I'm talking animations and any observable gameplay mechanics) This video really doesn't make MK stand out from any other fighting game other than the allusion to it's "superviolence." Give it up, superviolence is a dead horse. You're not going to get any more shocks out of that pony. Time to grow up and start making good games that capitalize on what MK really had going for it, like style and mythology and maybe having revolutionary gameplay wouldn't hurt either. But, I digress.


3) That god-awful song just destroyed any notion I had of MK being credible.


Now they're just a crappy, immature, out of touch developer with more money, better PR and more time to polish their turds.

Seriously, it looked nice. They're not ready to show off the whole cast and crew and gameplay mechanics yet, and I don't blame them. Let the fanbase work itself up into a frenzy; it'll be all that much more rewarding when we eventually get to see more gameplay.

Not a fan of Disturbed, but there's a thousand worse bands they could have picked.

Might be better if it was.

I'm not giving it the finger, more like shaking my head in disappointment. This is just deja vu of the last 3 MK fighting games; High hopes, ultimately followed by disappointment. I won't get my hopes up this time.

Well, 1997 was when they released MK4. That was 13 years ago. If you think this franchise has nothing left to offer cause Tobias left, then why are you on this site?

This is game is by no doubt going to be the best Mortal Kombat game ever to be released, but you think it's somehow 'shit'. The Gameplay, graphics, and the amount of detail they are putting in this game is fantastic.

I wouldn't say it's shit, just mediocre, average, unremarkable. Which to me, is shit. MK has a lot of potential but it's never used to it's fullest.

Why am I here?

I'm a fan of the good that MK does offer, which is gradually dwindling into nothingness. Why, in the past 3 iterations, have they not even been able to match the gameplay of UMK3, or the visuals of MK2? Maybe I'm a fool for hanging on to hope.

The problem is, MK is pretty much the lone star of its sub-genre.

It may be a bad game, but it's the only game in town.

I'd imagine that if you have been hating the game for 13 years, and by your standards, 5 failed games (if you include Shaolin Monks), you would have lost interest in this series. While I don't think Deception, Armageddon, and MKvsDC was by any means great fighting games, it had good things about it, so I never can say I hated the game.

This game does look amazing, a true return to it's roots, and will be what we've been waiting for.
