i think it would be coo if shangs soul steal move gave u the other players moves insted of life or both life and there moves at least for a short time or sumtin like that.. im sure that could be accomplished and i also agree that the more punishment shang take the older he should become.. shang has always been my fav except in mka.. snake style was lame but crane was devastatingly awsome and stylish.. he was cool in mk vs dc too but he was very anyoing with his "obiki's" every time u did a special move.. OBIKI.. OBIKI.. OBIKI.. OBIKI SHUT THA FUK UP!!! i finaly just went to tha options and turned the voice fx off lol but yea let me know what ya think

then you are missing out on a very decent, and fun, fighting game. i wanted to hate mk vs dc as much as the next guy but it turned out to be very decent. the fatals are pretty weak, in general, and it is a shame there were not more costumes, hidden characters, etc., but what is there is solid. is it worth new game price? no. but you can find used copies for just over $20 and it is definitely worth it. the subzero vs. scorpion fights alone are worth the price. the game likely would have been even better if midway had given them more time but companies that have no money cannot give developers the time and resources needed to polish a game like warner bros. is apparently doing.

Proof that Shang Tsung won't morph in this game. It's too technical. They can't make a 3D model character morph and be playable as it is.

I'd like to see him at least get a morphing fatality. It would be kewl to see his Kintoro Morph Fatality return especially if Kintoro don't return (great interacting cameo)!!!

If they do incorporate morphing somehow, I really hope they don't do it like in MKSM. There was a two-three second window while he was morphing where he was pretty much invincible.

I hope they have his old form as an alternate costume, always thought that was way cooler looking.

well if anyone payed atention to the trailers they have shown. Shang is old!!! Shang is old!!! i dont think they will have a older shang sitting in the chair and then have a young shang available to play with

Shang Tsung should be in the game because he is the original villian of mortal kombat and has brilliant fatalities and special moves.

Shang Tsung is one of my favorite characters. I can't wait to see him in action.

I do hope they kind of spice him up with new powers though. I want to feel like I'm playing a fresh and new Shang Tsung and not MKDA and MKvsDC again.

But i do expect him to have both his "Young" and "Old Man" look in this game. One will be his primary and the other his alternate (hopefully).

i hope he's dress like his MK1 self or MK Deadly Aliance.. I hated his MK2 and Mk3 outfits with a passion.. Even the Mk Vs Dc was terriable..

Old Shang has been modeled. He's going to be playable.

I'm sure one of his younger forms will be the alt costume. Whether it's his MK3 or MK2 costume is still up in the air.

just a thought... how about remaking Mortal Kombat Trilogy with the graphics from the new Mortal Kombat? But only with fatalities. maybe even new fatalities. None of the friendships etc... That game had over 30 characters. OR release every single character they ever had into one game. Not the double Sub-Zero characters either. 1 Sub-Zero is enough. 2 fatalities each. No characters need to be unlocked, No story mode no mini games. Just BAM! over 70 characters 2 fatalities, well over 2 dozen levels, pop it in and play. WHO'S WITH ME !?!

What will happen if you choose to play as ShangTsung in that level?
So am not sure he is going to be playable.

Sorry, but... "duhhh!!" It's not like he's glued to the throne.
If you remember Kahn's Arena from MKII, you would know you fight Shao Kahn in his arena and his throne is empty when you fight him.

I hope he gets his Morphing (without pause, even if you can only morph into opponent or choice of characters, or an idea that only the people he kills in the revamped storymode he can morph into cuz their souls), 3 skulls, switch places, teleport/attacks, 3D Fireballs, slide kick (MKvsDC), skull eruption (MK3) move, Soul Steal move/Fatality, and Kintoro Morph Fatality. (Ultimate Fighter)

Shang Tsung will most probably be playable. As for his morphing ability, it is one of Shang Tsungs main trademarks and I really love the move, but it is pretty obvious that this would make him an overpowered character (like Sagat was in SFIV, perhaps even worse). So if they want to make this a competitive fighter (which they said they would), they will probably not implement his morphing ability. Maybe with certain restrictions.

Well I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure he was never considered an overpowered or unbeatable character in MK2 through MKTrilogy mainly due to the fact that his morphing required a shit ton of memorized button combinations (especially in Trilogy) not too mention he would morph back at the most completely inopportune time, lol! I think the way it would work best and be the coolest is to have him be capable of temporarily morphing into a character he uses the Soul Steal move on (still giving him health but also unlocking his morph into opp. move) as MANY people on this thread have stated. Then he'd have a move akin to a far more sadistic and bad ass version of Rogue's key specials from X-Men vs Street Fighter and the other fighting games she was in. He'd be a one man tag team match and that would be perfect. I really miss the morphing in Shang Tsung and even though I thought he was amazing in MKvsDC I would love to see the morphing return as more than just a cameo during a fatality or cutscene even if only for that one little gimmick.
And have one of his fatalities by an opponent's fatality copier like Quan Chi from MK4 only actually have him morph and better yet, after you do the input and activate give a prompt to push a different face button to CHOOSE which (indicated by number Fatality 1, 2, etc.) fatality to execute. And of course give him his own unique fatalities like a short brutality ending in a True Soul Steal! If the designers are serious about bringing back the nostalgia they will hopefully listen to the fans and make Shang Morph even if only into his opp. for one move or a couple of seconds preferably.

Wow this Shang on the Throne in the lvl is being read way too far into. Most likely the case is that Shang Tsung will be in the game playable. Wither he looks like he does on that stage or totally different doesn't matter really. Most likely the Shang Tsung model will be there in the throne chair still even when using Shang Tsung.

Think of it like this. The Shang Tsung in the stage, is just apart of that stages design. That part of the design will always be there when you play that stage.

I second that! I think they hit the nail on the head with Shang's MK vs DC look and even moveset, and if they add to that, things can only get better.

With regards to the transition whilst he's gettin beaten would be flippin amazing; just like in the Armageddon intro!

It's very simple to remove him. It's honestly like 3 lines of code.

I would love a mixture of his old man attire and mk vs dc attire it would be sweet!!!!!

actualy if u look closley at Shao Kahns Arena you will find kitana and kira tied up in the background but wen u play as kitana it will be kira and uumm sareena or sum other chik anyways my point is i bet if u play as shang on his throne map it will just be replaced by either Kahn or Goro ya know!! come on now hasnt playing games taught u guys anything.. just cuz there in a background doesnt make them unplayable
