Hehehe, I've seen a lot of talk about mutual respect around the forums the last couple of days... Be right back, I have to go enjoy Nitara somewhere else.

On another note, I was initially reluctant to like Skarlet... The costume is unpleasant(though I like her mask and all the red), and red ninja was not a concept I was looking forward too. They've changed my mind though, her blood theme sits well in my belly, as do her fatalities and what we've seen of her gameplay. Goon on ya, Skarlet.

Nitara had a fuckload of potential regarding her moveset and gameplay, but they couldn't have done a worse job on her in this regard. She spits blood? How fucking lame. She's a vampire with wings. Have her fly, have her suck blood to regain health.

There are a grip of 3D era characters that had a lot of potential for their gameplay, but not a SINGLE one had anything close to an interesting, or cool moveset. Kenshi is a fucking samurai with telekinesis, and what do they do? They give him a move where he nudges his opponent with his power. That's real fucking cool. I'd totally take mental shove over telekinetic samurai blade wheel of fucking awesomeness.

Skarlet looks cool, ignoring the obvious menstruation jokes. I hope they don't fuck her up like they did Nitara, and that her gameplay has unique and interesting elements to it.

No she didn't. Her throw involved her having an animation where she bit her opponent, but it didn't restore any health to her.

Look. The point is that you can play around with aesthetics as much as you want when it comes to moves, but the only thing that really matters is the actual properties of the move. Take Sareena's 5 star kick for example. If she lands the kick, she'll do a little cinematic 5 kick animation afterwards... but none of that matters, cause all it equates to is just a basic kick that deals more damage. There's nothing special about it. Nothing that defines her gameplay.

Nitara's aesthetics hinted at a decent moveset, but there was nothing to differentiate her from the others. But lets be honest, even the aesthetics in the 3D era were horribly underwhelming.

Yes it did.

This is, sadly, 100% true.

However, this was not an issue that was restricted just to Nitara and Kenshi. They pretty much ruined that for almost every single character of that game.

With MKDA, they stated they wanted to take away the focus of special moves and just keep it with the fighting styles.....

I say Bullshit.

I will never buy that fucking lame excuse they gave us with MKDA. After all, they pretty much retracted from that in MKD. It was the first thing they changed. That game, as fun and as amazing as it is, featured one of the worst ideas ever in the history of MK:

To take away the focus of character's special moves.

Pretty much everyone was ruined in that matter. Only a few got lucky by getting an awesome new special or by keeping a classic iconic move. But, truth is most characters lacked special moves and that really did suck.

I keep raising an eye brow every time I look at Li Mei's move set. She did get plenty of specials while almost everyone else only got 2 or 3. It was pathetic, lame, and weak and I hope they never make a stupid mistake like that again.

So she can get stronger by a combants blood? what about the bottom of the pit where blood is coming out? would that make her a boss on that stage or what if she could absorb that endless blood?!? ....Its raining blood hallelujah!!! XD

The major gripe most people have is that everything about Skarlet could have been rolled into a revamped Nitara. Fix the old characters before introducing new ones.

I hope this means that the release date will be Tuesday. Kinda weird to advertise a character w/ a buy now option who is coming in like a week but w/e...can't wait!

Okay this raggedy bitch has been somewhat redeemed with an interesting story.

"Potential" is meaningless. Everyone has potential if you ignore everything that's terrible about them. DA had a shitty engine that gave rise to crappy moves and therefore crappy characters. Most of the stock characters suffered too.

Some got byes on account of excellent story directions or just reminding us of a character we did like, but that doesn't mean we need to revisit every one of them.

Nitara is the absolute last (okay, maybe Blaze and Mokap are worse) character we need to look at resurrecting from DA. She has wings and a crotch knife. Thats it.

There is nothing special about Skarlet except for that she is a new addition to the game. She's created out of blood, whoopie. She would bleed herself to death if she was to have a period, lol.

Nitara > Skarlet

Once they start working on the sequel, I sure hope that Nitara is one of the first character's that they work on.

Anyway's, aweful job on Skarlet...NRS!

NRS... as you know there will always be haters and people that complain. It's interesting everyone is here because they love the game yet they slam the people making it for not catering to their personal opinions.

I'm grateful to have such an awesome game and even more grateful knowing that I have the option of adding more characters to the game as time goes on.

If you don't like Skarlet, youn don't have to buy her. I know I will.
Hell, I'll buy every character NRS makes available, even if they are not a personal favorite. It's just nice to have a large selection of characters in the game.

Unfortunately, flamming like this will continue for each character release. I GUARANTEE.

Again, I'm baffled how people can hate a character that's literally just debuted. We literally only found out her bio today. Nobody here has played with her, and nobody has had any experience with her to know what she's like. How can you hate something you've never experienced?

I liked Nitara, but I can see a distinction between her and Skarlet. Skarlet's blood powers come from the fact she's a creature created from vast amounts of it, and Nitara's blood projectile (bear in mind she has no blood powers, just a blood theme...considering she's a vampire) is a projectile where she regurgitates blood she's drank and spits back out.

They use blood in different ways. Had Skarlet not gotten the blood ball you'd see no comparisons in regards to those characters at all. Honestly, remove the fact they both use blood as a projectile and what do they have in common? Nothing. Should NRS ever bring Nitara back, they can both easily co-exist, but for now just let Skarlet have her moment.

Why is it so difficult for WB to announce a release date for her? Just saying a couple weeks does not cut it. They should have set release dates for both Skarlet and Kenshi.

Skarlet looks interesting, aside form her costume.
Her Bios is...rather generic, but it's nice to see that Shao Kahn didn't trusted Quan Chi THAT much. Sadly Skralet didn't play any role in the Story Mode.

As for Nitara - she is easily one of the best post-MK3 characters. Awesome design (both costumes), nice gameplay ("Neijin" throw rules), good fighting styles aside from Kama. Interesting potential storywise. Her role in MKDA was pretty important.
I hope she would be one of the first characters from MKDA to return.

Like I said I think it's a little annoying that Skarlet is just another cronie of Kahn's aswell as connected to Quan Chi but I'm still really excited for this character. I'm wondering if we'll see a special edition of MK in about a year with a tweaked story mode that includes Skarlet and the other DLC characters.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely despise Skarlet.

She is a fake rumored character. There were Ermac rumors back in MK1, and then "Skarlet rumors" were retroactively added to MK2. There were NEVER rumors of Skarlet when MK2 was actually out, she didn't pop up until years later when the internet was around. She's fan created and is more like an "It would be cool if..." scenario; which happens to be DIRECTLY ripped off from the Ermac rumors. Whether the Ermac glitch existed or not, the "Skarlet glitch" absolutely, positively did NOT happen. There was NEVER EVER a red Kitana or Mileena that appeared in game. That shit didn't start popping up until people were editing sprites on the internet.

And now, even her background story is directly copied from Ermac. A collection of warrior souls created by Shao Kahn vs. a collection of warrior blood created by Shao Kahn. Weak.

Also, it's ANOTHER fucking ninja. Nothing else needs to be said about that.

I feel like she's going to replace Nitara and Kira, two characters who were far more creative in their design (Yes, a VAMPIRE is more creative than a fifth female ninja. I say "Fifth" because Tanya is pretty much the same as Kit/Mil/Jade, just without a mask). Nitara and Kira just lacked gameplay originality, something that could be solved on paper in a couple minutes.

First of all, Kira was basically the offspring of Kano and Sonya. Character wise she was the non-cyromancer version of Frost. Nitara, was basically a non-entity.

Regardless, Skarlet kicks both of their asses and she's not even playable yet. BTW, if you have such a problem with big boobs I suggest you stop playing Mortal Kombat or any fighting/action-adventure game. However, in terms of MK, you actually think the following females won't have big breasts? Have you seen Sonya, doll?
