I just want a middle ground somewhere. I get that people don't want a gray scorpion (and I guess I don't want one either), but isn't there something between "gray ninja" and "old man"? I just don't know why they'd go this direction unless they're logic was "Real smoke is white; let's give Smoke white hair." I just don't think that's a good attitude to have with character design.

Though I have to say, the old man look does fit his voice.


I say make him one or the other: feminine or gay. I wouldn't do both, because that puts him right back in gimmick territory.

Besides, I think a homosexual character is more interesting when they aren't explicitly homosexual. I'd love to see a gay character act more like Jack Burton.

Has anyone read all the spoiler files of story mode? Did Smoke happen to have an additional costume to his two costumes? Because if he did, this could just be his story mode costume after he escaped the automation where he took his ninja hood off. Normally he could still use the hood.

But I'm glad that Smoke will obtain at least some changes. I'm not exactly satisfied with the hair either but if you look at the costume otherwise, it's quite generic. Maybe the dark smoke cloud around his head can do some tricky things (smoke dragon?). Hopefully he will have a smoke cloud around him.

I guess that's true, but I don't get why you keep bring up subtle. It doesn't look like he's going into the game lip wristed or singing butt rock(no offense) in his intro.

You know, as irritating as I find these weekly Smoke speculation threads, they do make me smile. Kinda proves to me the character is much more popular than people give him credit for.

lol, you're right. Mortal Kombat characters aren't about subtlety, which is good. I like that.

It's the influences behind the characters I want to keep subtle. Shang Tsung, as a character, doesn't need to be a subtle, but the Lo Pan elements behind his character, that's what I don't want to be obvious.
