I have always liked the idea of Tanya. A beautiful Edenian woman, as they are, but with a greed for knowledge of magic and power which causes her to join the most powerful forces in all the realms to gain it. First Shinnok, then the Deadly Alliance and then Onaga.

She is a tragic figure as well, as she betrays her own while on pursuit for power, but she misses her home - a home she cannot return to due to her treacherous ways. Also, she looks so cool in MKD.



Reiko... I fell in love with his gameplay in MK4, and she had some cool features in it too, but I didn't like his outfit as it was just a maroon coloured palette swap of Sub-Zero's outfit. But his special moves looked rather cool and I used him the most out of all the characters in MK4.

In MK Armageddon I immediately loved his new looks, and though he didn't have his spinning teleport move anymore, he still had some cool gameplay. I just wish he had the scythe instead of the hammer, but I do like the hammer weapon style none the less. He's been my favourite male character ever since.



Considering how awesome the gameplay system is in this new Mortal Kombat, I would love to see these two return as DLC to this game, or return in the next game with an updated version of this gameplay, because that will really make them shine! I want to see their potential through this game, because I am sure it will just be incredible! NRS did wonders for my number 1 favourite, Jade, and all the other characters in the game, so of course I want to see these two get the same treatment as well!

I hope that explained it to you... Because frankly, I am SICK of threads like these. "Why do people like..." threads are so tedious and repetetive. Why can't people just accept that other people like something you don't? Why do you MUST know why people want these characters? Why do you care?

Tanya I dont mind cuz shes like the Anti-jade with a mice story.

Reiko I really want. This guy is beast. He is like a younger more flexible Shao Kahn. He was plain awesome in mka. After Rain he is my most demanded dlc character.

In mk the Edenians and the ninjas are very popular. I love them all myself, as a matter of fact.

Tanya is interesting as a character because she's the female Rain. She adds a nice counterpoint to Kitana, Jade, and Sindel.

She's an evil Edenian who betrayed her Queen, people, and her own realm. She's conniving, evil, and ambitious. We saw this at work in her mk4 ending when she happily leads Liu Kang to his death.

Tanya, along with Rain, show us that Edenia isn't just some paradise full of good people. It has its share of evil beings.

I like her rivalry with Jade too. It's the old ever loyal friend and servant vs the selfish and ambitious traitor. Jade has a disgust and hatred for Tanya on a fundamental level because Tanya represents everything Jade hates. It's probably one of the most bitter rivalries in the franchise if you think about it.

Tanya also has an interesting look too. The black hair, darker skin, and yellow contrast nicely with Kitana, Jade, and Mileena.

Also as someone else stated, they're pretty much the best of what's left. Sareena, Kira, and Frost would maybe be the only other ones since Fujin and Shinnok are best left for MK10.

I love rieko I think he's shao khans son. Don't really care for tanya though.

You won't be seeing me making thse kinds of threads simply because I like just about everybody. Funny, yet so true. XD

If they fix Reiko's story i might like him... i mean his mk4 story was a good starting point. But man... that pissed me the hell off. When John Vogal wrote in that Reiko had a mad Obsession with Shao Kahn and his Helmet.

Also Reiko was by far the best thing about MK Armageddon. Best gameplay and best part of the story/quest whatever you wanna call it.

Also I agree with whoever brought up the younger more flexible Shao Kahn thing. Actually made a thread about it a while ago.

He is also mentioned in the story mode and can be seen in the pit background.

But alas, the 4th will be a guest character imo.

Funny you don't want Tanya because she's another edenian but you want frost who's just another human from earth and another ice-user (we have two already)

I'm with you on this one.

Also funny that people complain about these 2 characters (that togheter with only Shinnok, Sareena and Fujin and maybe an unfunny Bo Rai Cho) have the most potentional to be good story-characters for mk3, but at the same time they want another smoke that looks like sektor and cyrax in the game.

What is wrong with these people? What corrupted their taste-system? Me wonders.

Bit of a rant.

I don't buy into it. A treatcherous bitch and a vague character servinf his masters for vague reasons in a vague situation.

There is nothing remotely interesting to me in MK4. Hell, even as maladjusted some of the characters got after MK4, alot more design and style went into them.

I am as thankful as it gets for Kobra, Kira etc. even if they are carbon copies gameplay-wise, because you can have only so much ninjas and demigod characters.

Sorry, a weapons dealer and a sociopathic martial artist screams writing at least, not good writing given their execution, but alot of the MK4 characters look like failed power fantasies from a preteen designing their own fanfic characters.

As unappreciative people are to Dairou because chinese garments do not conform to their sterile scope of what is awesome, those characters were alot closer to the original martial artist concept of MK than these failed reject superhero molds are.

Seriously, we cannot have Kahn, let's put someone who has similar spikes, put him in a ninja garb because we have the model for it, and make him look like a juggalo. THAT WAS REIKO.

Not to mention giving him a female Japanese name, research and writing my ass Tobias and co... at least Hotaru can be interpreted as a codename, Reiko sadly is the opposite....

Why, why on Earth should I consider a filler character to be more relevant and well written when he is not. Giving him an enigmatic plot, which does not tell anything about him is not character centric writing. Especially since he basically does nothing canponically. MK4: serve Shinnok. MKA: serve Kahn and Shinnok ad guard their room. Basically a third rate doorguard and thug, which for some reason was a general.

I can understand how the looks etc. can appeal to someone, sure, but this character has nothing aside that what would run for him in the long term. He simply was underdeveloped and not nearly unique to begin with.

Tanya doesn't have the same problems, I simply do not like her the same way people don't like the MKDA-MKA characters. I find her horribly bland and there is not enough style.

Where in the world is she a tragic character? Remorselessly selling out his own world, Jaded-Raven what you described is purely fan-wank imo unless you show me concrete evidence. If you can, do so.

Tanya i find Boring..

The main reason i want Reiko is because he was alot of fun to play as in MKA.

Probably who i was best with, Plus i think he had a great design in that game, he looked cool.

I maintain - Reiko was only good in Armageddon.

In MK4 he has nothing and was wearing what was essentially a maroon ninja palette swap.

Everyone has a fan base.Tanya to me is lame ass hell.Reiko was great in mka and his mk4 ending is what put over with many people.At least where I lived anyway.Most People believed he was Shao Khan in disguise.Like how Bison came back in SF 2 smaller and weaker.

Why does it really matter? Is it not already obvious why people like certain characters? People just have different tastes. I personally don't care much for Sareena but I'm not flabbergasted as to why a lot of other people really do. It's obviously her story, her look and/or her moves. It's the same for Reiko and Tanya.

So, I rather have three characters who share the same things than six characters. I know it won't be Frost, but that doesn't mean I still can't ask for her.
