MK9: Cyrax, Jax, Jade
I know Jade's not even human but she's always resembled people with African features.
MK has always been incredibly diverse though among it's Earthrealm characters, I mean, most of them could be of several mixed ancestries. It's never been delved into because it doesn't really matter that much. Their character and movesets are what makes them memorable.

Jade was white in MK9 though. But shw counts, we're using the term "black" not african, so Jade, Tanya, etc count

Jade and Tanya are fricking Edenian, not black.

Her render was a little off looking but in the game she had much darker skin than most.

Jade isn't black. Or human. Neither is Tanya. Who appears to be more white than black in MK X.

I swear when people discuss if jade is either black or Latina it's like that stupid white and gold dress picture.
She's clearly "african American"

Not that i care whatsoever about the ratio of any race in MK..but...
This is a terrible argument. "Black" is used to refer to people from many different places. It's the color of the skin, not the place that you are from.

Technically I think Ermac was black too, back when he was still a palette swap. Though turning 3D lightened him up considerably.
But then he IS just a ball of souls made into a person, so who's to say he can't be whatever race he wants to be on a whim? Ya know?
But I Distinctly remember at least one of the MK3 era Ermac sprites being black. (It may have varied by console?)

Edenians have always been described by the developers as being of mixed ancestry of many kinds of races that were similar to Earth races.
None of them are Earth races, just some that resemble them.
Jade has usually been depicted with features that are closer to African features. That's what people are trying to say. I don't see how some people say she wasn't like that in MK2011 because it seemed more or less in-line with her previous depictions in games.
The dumbest shit I've seen was someone try to argue that they made her resemble Persian women in MK2011 because they're "more attractive", at least in that person's viewpoint I guess.
Who the fuck cares what race your video game characters are and who actually gets turned on by polygons?
Yeah in UMK3 his skin was darker than the rest of the pallette swap ninjas. They lightened it up in Trilogy. That was always weird to me. It's not like it gave him more detail, like when they lightened up Noob Saibot's Pallette slightly in certain areas.

Jade isn't the slightest bit 'African American'. She doesn't have African features. Dark skinned people come from most areas of the planet. She looks more Middle Eastern / Asian in most of her incarnations.

Her MKD primary costume hair was believable.

I've never seen ANY real people with hair like MK characters. That Unreal engine doesn't do hair any favors.

Hey, Noob Saibot is really hard to see in Goro's Lair and his Dorfen. Needs to be balanced out.
