I don't really get what you mean by one combo setup. If you mean starter, both characters had plenty.

Sub-Zero had 22 freeze, b12 freeze, 212 freeze, so on so forth. So I don't really get what you mean by that.

BnBs have been in MK games forever. There are also insane combos that are hard as fuck to do so they're pretty much obsolete. I'm guessing there will be similarities in this game. Also the Scorpion in Injustice was seriously pretty much for sales imo.

Possibly, I was unable to word that correctly for I possess little to no experience when it comes to competitive fighting game terminology. What I meant to say was the characters I mention having only one go-to combo possible in their entire moveset. They should've fixed that by giving Sub-Zero more button combinations which would've opened up a more possible opportunities than just one of those setups mentioned above, which leads to a launcher attack, which leads to B1 2, then 212 slide.(I mained Sub-Zero in this installment. Same applies towards Aquaman with his go-to combo) You overstand me?(I consider it condescending to use the term, "understand")

I mained subby in mk9 and I played really well, his combos were short but he had enough of them to have a nice mix. Plus the freeze ending's allowed for you to get another free short combo off. I thought that was fair enough.

I did pretty well for myself too even against scorpion.

Now that I thought about it, they shat on Reptile too by giving him limited capabilities. He had very efficient juggles in UMK3.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Stop ripping off Street Fighter Boon! You had a good original system to go by with UMK3.

I don't care how many combo starters each character has as long as each one has one or two decent starters that are not neutral jump punch. Holy shit I hate having to do that to start combos lol

I wouldn't expect it at all this week. At earliest, I'm betting next week or the week after.

That would define what was said. Soon doesn't mean next week or the week after. That is too far away to be "soon".

Not to shit on anyone's hype but Boon's "soon" could last up to a few months. Sentences like "we will release info on online very SOON" come to mind

Wtf.. I was hyped for today. I'm hoping you guys are just booned out and it really does drop today. I'll probably get booned for my wishful thinking.

I can understand keeping things close to your chest but packing your entire marketing campaign into the last few months seems pretty stupid. There is zero hype for this game aside from us diehards going through withdrawals. Teasing fans =/= keeping everyone in the dark.

Maybe they're working on the "manface" that the majority of xenophiles(this is not a direct attack towards anyone in this forum in particular) were bitching about since the day Cass was revealed. She looked fine in that recent intro trailer against Kotal but nope, not good enough. Democra(p)cy at it's finest.

How is someone not liking Cassie's face a xenophile? A xenophile being someone who is attracted to foreign things? You're implying that the reason people don't like Cassie's face is because she doesn't look foreign enough?

I like Cassie's face, I'm just genuinely curious as to what the fuck you're talking about. Do you mean xenophobes? Or philistines? Either would work better in this context, although xenophobes still requires an explanation

People still bitching about MKX's marketing?

Most of the "marketing problems" are a result of people formulating unfounded expectations based on a few words on Twitter. "Boon said the word Monday in a random tweet. NEWS ON MONDAY KONFIRMED! I HAZ A FEELINGS!"

Then when that logic (facepalm) doesn't prove correct, people are disappointed/angry, even sometimes claiming that they were tricked/lied to.

None of this is a problem with marketing. It's a problem of expectation. Some people expect MKX's marketing plan to correspond to other game's plans. Expecting that it SHOULD be the same. Why? Every game needs the same marketing strategy? It doesn't. There really isn't any data that shows that WB needs to stimulate a constant, high level of buzz for half a year in order for the game to sell well. Look at Arkham Knight. How much of a "steady flow" of info has come with that game? Again, people are creating their own ideas of what SHOULD be happening, then when that doesn't happen they feel disappointed.

If WB ran a few trailers and ads on sites like IGN and YouTube and provided some in-store promotional materials/incentives for two months prior to release, the game would sell fairly well. I think WB might do more than that for MKX, but they certainly don't HAVE to.

We aren't owed anything.

Rant over.

I'm not basing my opinion on boons Twitter, I'm basing it on the fucking fact the NOTHING has been shown. I don't pretend like I'm owed anything, it's just weird how the marketing doesn't exist less than 4 months before release.

Hyperbole. And even if that was true, it wouldn't be weird. But it's not true so you're not actually saying anything.

Hardly. You pretend you know Warner bros marketing while I basically know the entire story of arkham knight. It is weird because no other games do it, your justification is nothing more than white knighting. I'm a fanboy too, it's why I'm here. I can still call shit for what it is.

I wish it would be more of a, "we have an amazing amazing video coming on [certain date]." Instead of , "we have an amazing amazing video to show". It's like ok awesome that's great, but what's the point of announcing a video if it's not done yet, and if it is, is it that hard to announce maybe a date it'll drop? That way people won't make baseless assumptions of when it'll arrive and get upset when it doesn't. It kinda goes both ways here.

Hardly what? You weren't speaking in hyperbole by saying that MKX's marketing didn't exist 4 months prior to the game's release? I do recall several characters being revealed already, complete with variation trailers. So... yeah.

Also, I don't pretend to know anything, and that's kind of the point. No one knows. No one knows what WB's plans are for the game, so to say that the marketing is bad is ridiculous.

I'm not trying to change minds here. That's not going to happen. People will continue to disappoint themselves by creating unwarranted expectations.

Why not just accept the exaggeration for what it is instead of declaring hyperbole like my opinion is somehow invalidated by your rules. Of course it's been shown but the fact is that aside from 1v1 matches with less than half the roster, the game is a complete mystery. Comic tie ins? Is that what he's waiting for? Is the miniseries running behind, is that why no trailer? Either way, it's weird and sloppy. Especially for the for people who aren't sold already like us.

They probably announced it to give us something to look forward to. The last variation trailer was back in October. Kung Lao didn't get a variation trailer so they know we're hungry for something.

And if something were to happen to where they couldn't upload the video the date they announced they would, imagine the shitstorm that would happen. I think it's better to just put it up without giving a date. Then no one gets pissed if the video doesn't show up for some reason when it's supposed to.

But even without a date, a lot of fans seem to be getting pissed cuz they don't know when it'll arrive. It could be weeks, tomorrow, today, etc. I guess I could say either way fans won't ever be pleased. But I feel like the better of the two would be to announce a date. Yeah sure, things could go wrong on that day, but that's why you double and triple check everything will go smoothly. I mean yeah, something could go wrong on that day, but by checking over and over, i believe you're more likely to fix the issue early.
