Nothing wrong with her, but when casuals and most hardcore fans think Shokan, Goro is usually the first to pop into peoples head. She'll never be able to contend with that.

Okay, I'll bite. JUST one? Piece of cake....
Bo Rai Cho.
Why you ask? Well....

Oh, and who is he better than? Well regardless of how I answer that, it will still only be my opinion. But I'll answer that in regards to story only.... The guy who throws up and farts is not better than someone like Sub Zero, sorry dude but no.
Bo Rai Cho would be great if they make him more like the Conquest version rather than the joke character he became. His story says he trained the best.. which makes him better.
A lot of the support for Sheeva on this forum often comes with a lot of sleaze comments.. so not sure if that's an endorsement of her, or that people just want to perve on anything female in the game.. She's a strong fighter who stepped up when there was no Goro, but this gets ignored :/

Bo Rai' Cho is an awesome character. When people can stop whining about something that isn't tat big of a deal and stop overlooking things, people can see what a great character he can be.
Great story; a trainer that managed to train some of the best combatants (Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Shujinko, and Muso Gonnosuke), he saved Li Mei from the Deadly Alliance, teamed up with the heroes and battled against the Tarkatan armies as well as Onaga and then died at the Pyramid of Argus.

If you want to debate the merits of "3D era" characters, scroll down in the MKX forum and use one of the various available options. Better still, wade neck deep in it in the 3D Kombat Klassics forum.

But...we've got a decent debate going on and since "tomorrow" is nearly over with no reveal, this thread pretty much has no other purpose. EDIT: Sorry, the edited title of this thread threw me off.
But I digress. PM me @Otto if you wish to continue. I'm way curious of your next response. Also, thank you @IceBaby and others for sending in the back-up.

I think Bo rai cho and drunken boxing deserve a serious chance. I always thought it was weird to have a joke character be so important in the story. Puking and spitting flames like Jackie chan would be an awesome variant. "Drunken monkey"

Pretty much this. Also, from a gameplay standpoint, his flips and staff could come in handy to some pretty nice looking and decent combo strings.
I'll obviously skip over Kenshi seeing as he's a given for me, but I'd also throw Fujin into the mix who...
- Has an incredibly open story with lots of potential to potentially rival Raiden after his severe fuck ups with Shao Kahn and the invasion of Earthrealm and the deaths of his warriors, thus he's supposed to protect.
- Gameplay potential is through the friggin' roof with this guy and the team already proved they can make it work and they can make it work well in Injustice with the likes of Superman and a few others.
Tanya, Havik, Bo (obviously), Sareena and Li Mei I would also throw in there.
- Tanya is a traitorous bitch and because of that (and being Edenian because this franchise is so Earthrealm/Outworld heavy and not enough Edenians to represent) I'd throw her into the roster. She's selfish and a character who could go either way depending on the story at hand. She'll do anything what-so-ever to find a way for herself to gain something and for others to lose. I love that. Gameplay wise I'm sure they could give her something to set her apart. She's ruthless so maybe some backstabbing, cut-throaty type stuff.
- Havik is pretty limitless. You can go weird and bizarre with his moves like in Deception or you could reign it in as far as just having him do little things now and again in between rounds like twisting his head, cracking an arm, ect. Visually, he is a stunning and intriguing character. He's like Joker, doesn't give a crap about anything except causing as much of a fuss as possible no matter who is involved. Another wild card, but more interesting than Tanya in the fact he wants nothing to gain except to just sit back and watch.
- Sareena is a given for me. Quan Chi is here, it would be pretty epic to watch someone go behind the sorcerer's back and scheme against him. It would be even more epic if this Sub-Zero is in fact Bi Han. Perhaps Bi Han requests her aid depending on whatever Quan Chi's scheme is this time around. Her role could be pivotal in the story, and for someone so unknown to the general public, so hardly used, she could be a major game changer.
- Li Mei because she is to Outworld in a sense what Liu Kang and Kung Lao are to Earthrealm. She gets up the courage to train and fight for and protect her realm. Obviously, the twist is that realm is Outworld. Depending on which way Kotal Kahn swings in the way he rules over these people and who comes into power after his eventual fall, Li Mei could really shine here story wise. Gameplay I don't have anything particular in mind, I just know she would fit in.
Most importantly, they all stand out amongst the ninja's, the cyborgs and the shokans that ruled the Trilogy era. They are different, they are interesting, and most importantly have major potential. And honestly speaking, despite me loving that Kung Lao has been revealed, and I'm glad he was, I would have KILLED to have seen any of them today instead of Kung Lao again. A GIANT wasted opportunity, I feel. But never-the-less, I'm glad Kung Lao is in and I love his look as well as his 3 variations.

Kung Lao? oh yay, another character from the last game. Riveting!
Give us a Post MK3 character, or an new character.
However, the variations are very creative, I love Lao's new design and I can't wait for his trailer, or the podcast showing him off.

People can talk shit all they want but Nitara would kick-ass in a game like MKX. MKX Is the perfect game for misfits like Nitara, Havik, Sareena, Ashrah ect, I think they'd really shine here.

Not at all. I'm honestly not trying to be hostile (but I understand the defense seeings how there's a lot of opinion "throat jumpers" lately), I'm just really into this debate because there are way more great characters in that era than just Kenshi and Quan Chi. And some are even better than those two, imo.
I just thought it was funny you chose to say Sub-Zero, someone with a MASSIVE fan base, instead of say, Kano, Nightwolf, Kabal, or Jax. Yeah they've got a great fan base, but let's be honest...they're not competing with the likes of Scorpion, Kitana, or Subby.

I think Li Mei is a pretty cool gal, she courts dragons and doesn't afraid of anything.
Here is the thing: fucking Kobra ellicits more emotional response from me than any Sub-Zero could refently, and Subs was my original favourite character...
So yes. Out with the old characters, already. They had two decades. Put the new ones into the limelight, and tlater you can bring back the old ones for one or more show.

Why? 90% of the post MK3 chatacters sucked. Use the new artists well and make brand new characters alongside the classics.
I love MK but am sick of all its characters!!!

Yeah, it's only alright to hate post-MK3 characters, since a study showed 90% of them sucked, apparently. Wanting a breath of fresh air and a new direction from the old games, just after a game that played homage to the classics, it's totally illogical.

I'm not sure how I feel about this reveal. On one hand I like Kung Lao, and wasn't expecting his conclusion so I'm surprised, but on the other after 3 months of nothing we get another MK9 returning character.
It'll be interesting to see what they do with him in the story, and it gives me a little more hope for Smoke and Jade who I thought would be DLC at best. But then again I think 3D era characters who I was hoping to see redesigned and given another chance now probably won't.
I agree on the whole that the MK1-3 characters are more interesting, but they also have been in more games and given more room to develop movesets and personalities. The 3D era characters were mostly dropped after one game, and there is no reason that if characters like Stryker can be reintroduced and made pretty cool, then why can't they? I just don't get the logic that because a character was 'bland' or 'sucked' in a game over a decade ago that they would be the same now, especially after MK9 completely re-invented the gameplay of the series.
