Yup.

People are so negative and hard to please. It's not just this forum or this franchise though. Fanbases in general are whiny, negative and entitled whether you are talking MK, Star Wars, comic superheroes etc.

The culture of fandom on the internet is all about being jaded and cynical as a fan. It gets tiring. I for one actually try to like and enjoy things but I guess that isn't cool.

The negative people are just very vocal and very quick to vocalize. They get it out of their system and everyone moves on. I agree with everything you said though.

This was awesome. The Kast in itself was pretty underwhelming--aren't they always, though, especially given our expectations, renewing themselves like a flowery field in spring before its inevitable decimation by the wintry grip of tomorrow? ..... Well, the Kitana/Reptile one was alright.

Anyway, I was way into this tidbit of Story Mode. The cinematic QTE fights are fluid and mesmerizing, and I hope there are a TON of them, at least one per chapter. Beautiful to watch. Speaking of fluidity, animations in general are so much smoother and more realistic this time around, and they're going bigger with the visuals in every way possible. Compare this helicopter fight and crash to Shang Tsung shooting down the Special Forces chopper back in MK9---there IS no comparison And on top of all that, we got these beautiful models!!! I enjoyed MK9 like every other fan, but fuck me sideways if the models weren't so often atrocious. Liu Kang's entire body, head to toe, comes to mind. Also the female ninjas, who looked to have carb-loaded while hitting the gym. Yikes and gadzooks.



You know what I'm worried about, though, and I'm probably the only one reading too much into this/cares enough about this, but I'm gonna say it anyway 'cuz this is 'Murica? The whole "mission to take down Shinnok" chapter, the continuation and conclusion of Mortal Kombat 9's Story, focuses on Johnny Cage... leaving Sonya to, more than likely, be the piece of ass that gets knocked out off-screen and saved by Big Boy over here, after every fight. Actually, scratch "more than likely", I've read breakdowns of Chapter 1, and this happens. Now, I'm not against her being a secondary character once in a while (I'm sure she'll have her Chapter later on, probably when Cassie comes around, and I'm pumped for that), but come on, it's the conclusion of MK9!! I was hoping Johnny and Sonya would get shit done on the same level. Sigh.

You were told (in advance at that) what was going to be shown in the stream.

I wouldnt worry too much about it, it just seems like Johnny being a gentleman which probably isnt normal for him which is why they'd want to emphasize that but there is that small tidbit we've seen of Johnny and Sonya fighting Shinnok together in the Cage Family trailer

If u win a fight doesn't that mean u beat them. Also now they can not say that they didn't add a character cus they could not make 3 variations.

What does the Internet have to do with it?

So I'm guessing then since they revealed Shinnok is playable through the press release this morning that Liu Kang will be the fortunate one who gets the honor of being unlocked via story mode.

Actually, on my experience in gaming stands and events, people don't tend to be an ass outside of the internet, because they're not anonimous anymore.

I think that is just a consequence of the structure of story mode and you saw it in lots of the past games



One hero is off screen fights Henchman B while the character the chapter focus' on fights Henchman A

After that fight we see Hero B is beaten by Henchman B, and Chapter character then fights them


It makes out like Hero B is really weak but then their chapter will come around and redeem them


Wonder Woman came off as really weak in Injustice's story mode until her chapter came about and she started kicking ass


Remember Sonya kicking both Jade and Kitanas ass in MK9 storymode

but then Kitana later kicks both Smoke and (was it Johnny)'s ass in her chapter

The only ones who aren't redeemed are the villains who lack a chapter so they can never really win a fight


Poor Mileena is probably gonna loose a lot of fights in MKX

As is Ermac, Kano etc
