Of course they're out to make money, video games are a cutrthroat business, if you don't thrive and put out impressive numbers every time, you can guarantee yourself a drop in budget or culling of employees.

You can call NRS and WB out on their bs. You SHOULD call them out on it. But to assume they're screwing over fans by holding over some mildly unpopular characters? That is absurd. Just look at the insane amount of content in the game. Story mode, factions, revamped towers, character variations, brutalities, etc. now compare that to how EA or Activision treat their customers.

That is the problem with mko in a nutshell. People overreacting and exaggerating little problems before actually having a clue about what's going on.

The blame rests entirely on WB. You need no further evidence than the Arkham games. It's a fucking DLC milk farm. And with the DLC characters for MK9 and Injustice breaking bank, you can bet your fucking ass there was some executive meddling.


As bullshit as it is, though, consider that the series and the team are in much better hands now than they were back in the Midway days.

Instead of being forced to squeeze out something MK-related every single year and cutting corners on EVERYTHING, NRS now has the luxury of having all the time in the world to polish up their game, and the AAA budget that goes along with it certainly doesn't hurt either. I mean, for fuck's sake, we went from having Bob from Accounting doing voices for your characters to the toppest tier, cream-of-the-crop veteran VAs like Steven Jay motherfucking Blum starring in MK. Could you ever imagine something like that, even in your wildest dreams? Seriously, am I even awake? Is this real life?


So yeah. Them's the breaks, I guess. :/

That would explain:
- Why Kotal calls him "Raiden's Champion".
- How Earthrealm defeated the Netherrealm Invasion with a few warriors (there's only Sonya and Johnny after MK9).
- How some dead characters are alive now.

Although it's worth pointing out that the comic makes it a point to refer to the Netherrealm happenings events as an "invasion" or "war", not a tournament.
