havin a gay boy was a risk, even though it flew under the radar for the most part. Having the new emperor of outworld look like a boss, but fights like an anemic cancer patient, (losing to kung jin, WTF?) having Jason was kinda risky, but Not really since Freddy sold well. Having a semi disappointing story, with a serious headscratcher of a finale with Cassie beating down super charged shinnok, while kung jin and Johnny Cage just kind of hang out in the background.. Having the stones to have Baraka and Rain fight in the story mode, but not playable was a turd also. I won't mention fujin because he has to be dlc character number 5 , or at least a sure in for a KP2 if they do another one. Lots of risks mk took, just not in a good way. Overall though MKX rules the tits off a cow!Now that the game has been out for a while...uhh, what risks did MKX take?

And only a very few core characters were missing: Shang Tsung, Noob Saibot, Shao Kahn and Baraka who wasn't playable. MKX was hardly the series' own SFIII.

Crapcom thinking Street Fighter 5 is going to pull their company out of the toilet is a serious risk, even fatal. Just watch gameplay of SF 5 , it just looks boring and slow. What risks has SF5 taken? Bringing back Nash and Birdie? Woooo they like to live dangerously ;)

Half those new characters are relatives of long-standing characters who are all in the game as well. That makes them feel derivative to me despite the fact that they play differently.Denizen Wrote:

So according to you Kitana was derivative of Sindel in umk3?
Really, I mean no offense, but I'd like to enter your brain and see what's within. I'd be amused.

Ignoring the derisive tone and the insincere politeness, your argument is a terrible one, since Kitana was created way before Sindel, so you got that backwards and ,in that case, they clearly didn't take heavy references from their relation like with the Teen Titans in a desperate attempt to make fans like them.

I don't really get the "they are related to older characters so people will like them" argument. Who actually goes "Oh, he's the son of Kenshi so I like him?" MK's fan base isn't 9 year olds. I could understand if they copied what made people fans of the old characters, but they didn't (you could argue that for Cassie if you take it for surface value). Each of the new heroes has their own elements to make fans.
Their backstory is just like everyone else's backstory; used to connect them to the MK world. It's like saying they only made Cyrax & Sektor apart of the Lin Kuei as a desperate attempt to make fans like them.

When NRS leaves Scorpion and Sub-Zero out then I'll think they're taking roster risks as well.

Or Reptile, Kung Lao, Kitana, Sonya, Liu Kang, Jax, Mileena, Ermac, Quan Chi, Johnny Cage, Kano, Raiden, perhaps?

I like the process Capcom is taking with their roster. I hope NRS does the same in MK11.
Lol at the MK fans in this thread. But it's an MK site, ignorance is to be expected.

Agreed. Because Scorpion still being out for revenge after 20+ years is the epitome of risk taking and change.

To be fair though, they gave him a redesign and he's no longer a shoto, so that was a bit risky.

They also heavily redesigned Charlie Nash. He plays nothing like Guile now.

Starting off with a medium roster then getting bigger down the road.Best thing is that you dont have to pay. Just play and earn in game currency and buy them. Works for DLC too.
