I'm wondering what each of you think about the Battlegrounds that have been remade for MK: Deception, & Armageddon. So far, I counted 17 of them.

MK 1:

Shang Tsung's Courtyard
The Pit
Goro's Lair

MK 2:

The Dead Pool
Wasteland
The Tower
Living Forest
The Armory
The Portal
Kahn's Arena

MK 3:

The Subway
Bell Tower
Soul Chamber
Hell (UMK 3)

MK 4:

Reptile's Lair
The Prison
Fire Well

That includes Kombat Temple from MK 3 remade into half 2D/half 3D in MK Gold, which is renamed "The Church." Do you think that those & any more battlegrounds from the past MK games (MK 1-4 & Deadly Alliance, Deception, & Armageddon) should be in MK 9?

Not exactly.

I think that if they bring some past arena back in Mk9 (or Mk8 depending on how you accept MkvsDc) they should show us a different perspective of that world that we're playing in. Especially with most arenas being based on whole worlds, parks, forests, heaven//hell...ect

==
So for example, if they use the Living Forrest again (which I think they should), then I would appreciate them presenting it to us in a way that indicates that it's a bigger, maybe even inescapable place. With or without a definite trail that leads to the area that we fight in, maybe. Also, the closer you are to the danger, the more intense the fight. So, we should feel like we're right there, actually IN the forest too.

They should take us into the forest and expose us to more than just the trees as a potential danger (i.e. living vines, plants, other little creatures of that forest..ect). I'd like it to feel really ominous (you're being watched), and really fantasy driven no matter what though. There should be a dread about fighting in that forest, inferring that something went horribly wrong with the magic in that place.

I'd love to learn of a story that explains why the Living Forest is living too.

Same tactic would apply to all the other arenas too. If they're gonna use the same places over and over, show us a different aspects of the same places.

Other than that no, I would not like to see the same arenas come back again. It got old a few games ago to keep using the same material the same ways, and is partially why people have the complaint about MK "remaining the same".

Plus, they never quite recaptured the attraction to places like the Pit in later games. I mean, MkSm gets really close the way they took us through every place. So credit deserves to be given there.

I'm ready for something relative to the past, but fundamentally new though.

I think they're shown us the Living Forest stage so many times, it'd be boring at this point. If they're going to do it, they should do it a new way, for instance a post-Apocalyptic absolutely decimated Outworld where there is but one tree left - an endangered species!

Sucks to the past.

MK9 needs to be as new as possible. Continue forward, onward with new and better arenas than ever before (except for Quan Chi's Fortress, yey!).

Unless they plan to reinvent MK completely, I think the MKTeam should just do away with all the past arenas (excluding Quan Chi's Fortress, yey!) and move forward.

I like how Predator explained what the levels should be like, especially when he goes out in depth about the Living Forest.

I'd like to see the classic levels to return. Especially the Living Forest, The Pit, and the Dead Pool.

But Predator really nailed what the levels should be like in the next game. Especially since it's actually possible to do such a thing in the game with the technology we all have these days.
