I actually watched that shitty excuse for a documentary and it is just biased, stupid and fails to take into account of the other side of the argument. It, like all those dumb politicians who've never played even a minuet of Pong in their lives, are making gamers out to be violent, mentally unstable delinquents (which is not the case).
It was especially low of the director to use tragedies like the Columbine shootings to back up his so-called points. Even if Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (the two shooters) were fans of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, they were already considered mentally disturbed well before the massacre happened and the video games played little part in their desire to kill their peers.
In the end, the blame lies not with the gamers, the retailers, or the game developers... It lies with the parents. The parents who don't involve themselves in their kids' lives, who don't take a few measley minuets out of their lives to look at the rating, the parents who don't teach their kids the difference between fantasy and reality. Video games are just a convenient scapegoat: "Oh, it's not my fault my child doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, or fantasy and reality, it must be those damned video games I kept buying him/her instead of actively involving myself in his/her life."
So yes, I am deeply annoyed.

I wrote a research paper about this for my WR 123 class. Instead of going the usual route and trying to prove that there's no connection between violent video games and kids commiting violent crimes, I decided to focus on national crime logs and what elected state representatives are doing about it.
What I found was that since the introduction of Mortal Kombat in 1991, violent crimes among minors has dropped significantly every year since. I don't really credit MK with the drop, but it can't be denied that the crime rate among minors has dropped since the introduction of violent video games. All that really means is that video games can't be blamed for criminal acts. If anything, they helped reduce crime.
See for yourself:

Can't he be sued for using Mortal Kombats name like that? Specifically, the spelling is exactly the same. That's slander if I ever seen it before...
Good find, I thought it was really interesting, and I never actually saw the guy before this. Thank you.

Yeah, everyone should've read the article. You and Pred were talking about how calling the documentary 'Mortal Kombat' was a big deal. Now, if you'd actually read the title, you would've known it wasn't called 'Mortal Kombat.'
Oh and, Halpin is the flick's producer, yeah, but the actual title is "Spencer Halpin's Moral Kombat" not "Moral Kombat." Just FYI. ^_^
