Yeah, I'll definitely try him out and give him a good run through but I'm still not happy he's here, either.

Fujin's model in story mode looks nicer than just an NPC placeholder so I think there may be a good chance he's the story mode unlockable character that Boon confirmed exists.
If not, the inclusion of Jason and Predator in the Kombat Pack is going to guarantee it sells well, which should justify more DLC characters like what happened with Injustice.

oh I can't wait for Fujin to die a horrible death in story mode, or even worse the comic.

I wish it were the opposite, but they clearly have a bad taste in their mouth for Fujin.

I'd have never guessed you'd rock Imposter as your main variation. I'd have thought the idea of learning character specific combos for the entire cast to be too much of a pain.

It's sort of a sentimental thing, really. Imposter really captures the essence of vintage Shinnok more than any other variation. And even if I wanted to use Necromancer, his arms look too dumb. I mean, it's distractingly dumb looking.

Hey, if your Shinnok can beat my Shinnok, you've earned it. That's the way the wind blows. I'll be seeing you in the ring, though.

Thanks, man. That's definitely the goal, lol. I'm really hoping I can make something great happen with Shinnok.
It's crazy, though. In a way, we're all starting over with MKX. Cyborg's Kenshi is getting scary good (he bodies my Rain now), and it's a giant question mark about what tiers will look like and who will win/lose what match ups. I'm kinda nervous about week one MKX, lol.

LOL Week one will definitely be the most interesting to see who gets the best of who. I've always been good at picking really odd characters and making them work against my friends. Sorta why I always gravitated towards Bo, Rain, Tanya & Kenshi in previous games. Never was one to go for the uber popular guys so I have a feeling I'm gonna be sticking to my guns in MKX and going with the likes of Kenshi and Ferra/Torr. Hopefully Fujin is in the damn game but if not I'll have to wait for the possibility of DLC but I'd probably main the fuck out of him and Kenshi.

Cyborg has improved soo much it's crazy. I'm also happy everyone is on the same playing field now with MKX, it will make KOTH a lot funner when it's not just one person bodying everyone lol.
I'm worried about week one as well, I hope I can do good with Shinnok, if not I think i'll gravitate towards Goro or Erron Black. I'm mostly worried about the run mechanic, idk if that's going to be hard to get used to or not. I just hope it's not too different from MK9 and Injustice, but it seems a bit more complicated this time around.

It's definitely going to be an adjustment and take some getting used to. Block Dashing was such an important part of movement in MK9 and now it's pretty much gone in MKX because pressing block during a dash will cancel the dash into a run. Learning optimal movement will be a little but of a hurdle.
Another crazy thing is that Breakers require you to have full Run Meter to execute. If you're too aggressive running in and get hit your going to have to eat some damage. The kicker is that back dashing also requires meter, so you can't be overly defensive either!

I was watching the 16-Bit/Seth Rogen matches to see how Bit was using the run function. Right now, dashing appears to be the dominant mechanic for offense and mobility. The main function of run seems to be oki pressure and making certain punishments possible when they otherwise wouldn't be.
I hope that changes as the game evolves, though. I'm hoping Run can be used for rushdown like it was in UMK3, but I guess we'll see.
lol, is anyone NOT using Shinnok? Seriously though, I'm glad to see he's getting so much love.
To be honest, I really like this. As a mechanic, I've never been crazy about breakers. It was a necessary evil in MK9, but I feel reducing the role of breakers is going to affect the meter game positively. At the end of the day, I want people to use their meter for setups and opportunities. I didn't like the meter-hoarding mentality of MK9.

They really blew the overall design of ex moves in MK9. So many of them were not worth spending the meter on vs saving it for a breaker. Also, meter less damage was so strong in MK9 that there was even less incentive to use it.
Injustice showed leaps and bounds better design with Ex moves having better utility and made combos much more damaging. From what I've seen, that improvement has carried over into MKX.

Wow, yeah I kind of like that. Adds another layer to the metagame.
I agree that it's definitely going to take some adjusting, I just hope I can get used to it fast, I don't want to get left behind lol

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm sure there will be some kick ass rushdown setups when the game is actually released.
Fujin/Shinnok were my top two for this game so obviously i'm going to be using him
It's awesome that he's well received, hopefully it will make NRS realize that 3D era characters can be salvaged.
also @praetor I agree. It seems like damage in MKX is toned down quite a bit, for example 16bit did that long ass corner combo on the stream the other day and it was only like 33%. While meterless midscreen Kitana combos did like 46% in MK9, it's a nice change. Meter management will be a big part of the game this time around imo.
I'm so excited to just start playing, I can't wait. What system are you getting the game on @Praetor?
