I think we're just all hopped up on an MK buzz and don't wanna overhype ourselves (And each of us are only available so many days in the week to get together, some of us lead pretty busy lives). This goes out to all of the netherkast I want to see your guys reaction as soon as you start story mode even though I seen it I won't spoil it for you. LOL what a messed up release on PC... The game is being downloaded in chunks... It lets you play it while the packages are being downloaded... Too bad there aren't any arenas available to select so it's impossible to play any matches or even practice... Try and the game crashes... Story mode: not available; Online: not available, etc...

And there are 29 packages to download and it's taking forever...

I take it this is Steam's fault...

Managed to play tutorial though (with fucking Scorpion, of course)... Man it's gonna take me a while to get used to run cancels instead of MK2011's dash cancels...

Long story short... Most frustrating/disappointing day 1 with any game ever... Thank you Steam...

I'm loving the game. It's so fun, I can't stop playing it. I really hope we get more DLC other than just the kombat pack, I want stages, costumes, everything, TAKE MY MONEY NRS. If anyone wants to get matches in on Xbox One my gt is Down4ality :)

I really loved your guys' thoughts and opinions on story mode, I've been sort of cynical about the entire thing, and what was next for MK, but you guys made me see it in a different light. I realize that I was purposely looking for things to be nit-picky about, and I didn't appreciate it fully like I should have. There are a lot of things I liked about story mode and you guys are right, it is a hell of a lot better than MK9. I guess Fujin not being playable just gave me a bad vibe from the start, but putting that aside I can say that the story was very well done.

Especially after going through the krypt and reading some of the concept art it helped me understand why they did some of the things the way that they did. All in all the future of MK looks better than ever, and I'm very happy about it.

On gameplay, I shared the same feelings as you guys initially, especially temp, I feel like all of my skills in MK9 don't convert at all to MKX, lol. Although I have been getting better, it feels like it's going to be a long journey until i'm satisfied with how well i'm playing the game. It still feels like i'm learning, and that's okay. It really does feel like we're all starting from square one. Not to mention that the first time I went online was to play with cyborg, and he bodied me the entire time lol.

Looking forward to getting in matches with you guys, and I wanted to know if there are plans for some streams anytime soon?

I played my first match last night, and I almost lost because because my hands wouldn't stop shaking....LOL.

Fighting games are stressful to me.....plus I'm hella rusty.

LOL that's how it was for me when I played my first MK2011 online match (actually my first online match in any game ever).

Great podcast as always, gents. I've said some of my piece on the story a while back but I really, really liked it. A driven tale of a civil war, family drama and the fate of Earthrealm (per usual). A re-telling of Mortal Kombat 4, pumped x10 with a more diverse cast of characters. There IS inconsistency that sticks out to me and that is the family drama. It feels very un-MK and it nags me. With that said though, NRS still delivered possibly its best Story Mode yet full of cameos, QTE's and some of the best cinematics we've seen thus far. Redemption for some of the fallen, interesting set-ups to come (RULER OF THE NETHERREALM IS A FUCKIN' TURKEY!) and the promise of a No Fucks Given Raiden make me squeal with giddy, nerdish pride. While the writing itself is a little spotty at times, they still gave us one hell of a 2-3 hour experience. Definitely something to remember.

As for the newbies, I agree some of them were lackluster. I honestly don't think they predicted Erron Black would be so popular. D'Vorah as a traitorous villain bugged me (no pun intended). Kotal Kahn though I still really, really like and here's why; he's human and three dimensional. He shows honor when Kung Jin bests him but when they retrieve the amulet, he's like "You know what? Fuck this. Earthrealm didn't involve us once and they almost got defeated. Now they lost the amulet and shit almost hit the fan again and for that, they want to take the amulet back and possibly screw things up even worse? Fuck this noise." He's yet another character that has seen through Raiden's bullshit and knows he doesn't make the best choices when it comes to the safety of the realms. He's miles above "Grrrr I want more realms and I'm always angry at things!" Shao Kahn. He is a true neutral and he will do whatever it takes and side with whomever to keep his realm and its people safe. Like when they go to Earthrealm and Kotal realizes Shinnok is close to winning, he immediately goes to the point of view of "You know what? Maybe if I do this, this and this, Outworld will be spared." Earthrealm kept leaving Outworld and himself out of things so he's like you know what? I tried being a team player, I tried reaching out, now it's time to worry about us and you can worry about you.

Now with all that said, there is an up-side to this. If the comic continues on past its first year, they can pick up on some of these things fans want to see. For instance, we could see a little of that Fujin in the Netherrealm stuff, trying to hunt down Quan Chi, perhaps with the aid of Sareena and maybe even Ashrah if she's around at this point in the new timeline. Granted I'm pretty sure in the game that was 25 years later but that at least tells us what he's been doing all those years, and that could be hunting down a sorcerer. They could also take that time to give us reasons why Kotal Kahn is so untrusting of Earthrealm. Sure, that doesn't make the issues with MKX's story mode go away but it does help us as fans get more out of the story.

I truly believe the comic is 99% canon, leaving out some inconsistencies, and I think with how popular they are Boon and NRS will leave them as such and just build off of that and the story mode they created for MK11. The whole Goro in MKX thing is what I think is non-canon. Goro's bio and ending scream Jason/Predator/Freddy situation to me where they just needed a half-baked reason for him to be there. Goro in the comics is what I believe to be canon. Goro in the game is just because they wanted a recognizable sub-boss and his appearance is non-canon.

I don't want this post to be an incredibly long rant but those are just the things I was thinking while listening to the newest episode.

I know a few of you Netherkasters are playing on PS4; do you think I could add you guys on my friends list to have a few familiar voices to play MK with. All my real life friends are too cool for video games and that makes me a sad panda.

That whole bit about Jarek not being playable ever again reminded me of Ed Boon's countdown to the Raiden reveal. When a fan asked him about Jarek, he replied something along the lines of 'you'll have to wait 11 years for that' but when asked about Ashrah, he said something like 'maybe MK11.' But yea, it was given, though, that he won't be back anytime soon.

Just a thought.

Great new episode guys, I agree with the fact that i'm just tired of the Fuin shit. I don't want to put time into the twitter shit if it's not gonna work, I've lost all hope for this character. lol

I like Fujin and if they add him people will still whine saying they want Smoke or Cyrax or someone else it is endless. I am just proud they will be more than 4 DLC characters this time. People need to chill and take this with a grain of salt that is my 2 cents guys oh and the episode was really good and i can't wait till the next one.

If he's not the Martian Manhunter of this game I'll eat my jeans. I'm THAT sure. lol
