But, so I don't get off topic, I can remember Shao Kahn's war hammer. I love that hammer.

I remember Scorpion's axe. Hell i hated that axe, aswell as how it appeared from nowhere during a combo and then disappeared in the same way.

I think every character had a weapon in MK3 and its upgrades, though i can't remember wich ones, but i think the male Ninja all had the same axe. Am i wrong?

in UMK3, they do.

and many mk fighters do have weapons but not all of them.

I really liked it because it was such a surprise. Looked like it hurt too. Made the combo more effective visually to me.
