Midway will never forgive him for dressing up as Johnny Cage and being in an advertisement for a competing fighting game. Do you think they just killed off Johnny Cage in MK3 because they wanted to? No, they did it as a direct insult to Daniel Pesina. Daniel screwed up big time by switching to Blooodstorm, and he's not coming back from that in any way, shape, or form.

The Long Version:
Daniel Pesina was fired for dressing up as Cage for a game that wasn't even Midway's, they fired him and he has been off the radar until the movie Press Start. As a diss directly to him, they killed off Cage in MK3,UMK3 and took out all the ninjas in MK3, plus they had Sub-Zero unmasked so they could get a new actor. After People wanted the ninjas back, they had John Turk, Sub-Zero in MK3 do the ninjas. And found a new actor for Johnny Cage as well, IMO a much better one. While Carlos pesina, his brother, was so great he had his own character in MKDA, Mokap, and were able to get along fin w/o Daniel. Hell, Carlos did ALL the motion capturing for MKDA/MKD, and if they ever need it done again, it'll be given to Carlos, so no, Daniel's gone.

sorry to contraddict you,but unconsciusness you mentioned the right cause for Johnny Being killed by extermination squads in Mk3.Midway want to.
and do you know why?Because John Turk with his natural brown hair was a perfect Johnny Cage,but instead Midway preferred to make new characters like Stryker,Sheeva and Sindel.The results,unluckly,are under everyone's eyes.

Never liked Daniel Pesina,and even tough i played MK since day one and probably i'm the first ever italian to play MK ,never considered him as the TRUE JOHNNY CAGE.I still prefer Chris Alexander:inexpressive.
after all Johnny is an abysmal actor,and everyone complains about his acting skills,so what's better for Johnny Cage than a inexpressive actor?
I like also the facial model for Mk4(don't know who in the hell he is) and loved Linden Ashby in the first movie.

That's wrong. Jerrod got it right the first time. Same thing happened with Raiden because Carlos participated in another game with Daniel.

The in-game story is the cover-up for the actual reason why those characters are not in MK3-UMK3.
