This game is gonna be awesome. I dont know much about the figthing mechanics but the only thing i dont like is the J PUNCH. I mean bouncing off the wall is good enought, but ive never seen someone bouncing off the ground. it just doesnt look believable.

i strongly recommend for new warriors in MK9, especially with oriental backgroud japan or china, 4 is good not DLC. more warrior from the east can make MK9 sell good in japan( kung lao is such a appealing warrior in japan) this make MK9 perfect, remember, MK9 is not made only for you old fans, it should attract more people who never played MK before, so please make some new faces, replace the old unpopulared boring ones such as sindel kabal jade and sheeva. and i am confident in NetherRealm' s imagination that they can make more new cooler warriors. if all 26 warriors is just a remake of MK123, then MK9 is a failure
NWE WARRIORS PLEASE! MR BOON!

Subbys Icy Counter and Johnny cage's X Ray function as parries.I'd expect to see more parry moves like this. Wake Up attacks have already been confirmed by various gameplay videos.

yeah i know. i just think of jc xray as more of a counter/reversal more than traditional parry that you have to time.(sc4,sf3...)i have saw the wake up attacks though.

i do believe that the mk team is telling the truth because they are really trying to compete with ssf 4. they might not get everthing right but at least they are TRYING!!

yeah you know that is weird that mk started with the meter stuff. are they trying to be like sf now?? mk never had meters and i dont think they need them now.

kung lao xray move is cheap because the opponent is sitll dizzy after the xray which allows him to get more hits.

Well they did mention that X-ray moves would leave some sort of debuff on the opponent afterwards. Maybe that's what they were refering to.(In regards to the Kung lao X-ray comment)

MK actually had a combo/run meter from MK3-MK4. But it wasn't anything like SF's.

Hmm. I don't really get what they mean by that. Really, any attacks can be a wake up attack. A Shoryuken isn't just an AA since it can be used on the wake up. So I can only assume they mean rising attacks like the ones in Tekken. That or players are now invincible when getting up, which I don't think was the case in MKDA.

They may not need it but I think it's good that have added it. It's the first big change to the game since the fighting styles debacle in MK:DA.

It makes you think more about your options rather than just combo, special, defend, fatality, and adds another layer of risk vs reward.

I don't think they are trying to be like SF. They've taken a relatively common feature in many games and added their MK twist to it.

Yeah, that's nothing new.
What IS new is that combos will be scaled. So all those Kung Lao attacks won't be a game ender.

WeaponTheory, that signature is legendary

Anyways, Kratos is a PS3 exclusive. How does this effect Mortal Kombat if it miraculously becomes a tourney viable game? Will a PS3 be used or will Kratos be banned?

It depends on what console is the tournament standard. Like how Tekken 6 at Evo was PS3 only, etc. But of course, this all hinges on whether or not MK will be competitively viable.
And yes, that sig is legendary.

Tekken didn't have an exclusive console character though. This is more like Soulcalibur II and IV.

That also depends on if you have to download him or not. If he's not on disc I wouldn't expect him to be at tourneys.

Although MKvsDCU wasn't great, I really like the idea of "freefall" combat. That could be a great addition to this game, and really enhance some of the stages.
I don't think anyone has mentioned this on these boards yet, and I'm curious as to others opinions on this topic.sad

That's why I figured it would just be PS3. I doubt X-Box is going to get a exclusive character, but if they do, I figure they'll just go the way SC2 did.

But I'm not into SC, so I honestly couldn't tell you how they handled that shit.

Does anyone know if they are making use of diagonal presses on the directional pad for moves?

Also, will there be something like high, mid and low attacks like in Virtua Fighter and Tekken, or what type of system is in place?

In the new MKast they said there will be keep away characters.

How will that work with teleports?

Anybody with a teleport in MK can just wait for a projectile by the opponent and then teleport and unleash a combo. Teleports in MK are so broken. They should bring you to your opponent but it shouldn't allow you to combo them. Or they could also have a close and far teleport that would balance it out a bit.
