Burbank, Calif – February 28, 2012 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is now available at retailers in North America on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition offers a content-rich version of 2011’s acclaimed Mortal Kombat, which has sold more than three million units worldwide and was named 2011’s Fighting Game of the Year by Game Informer Magazine, Spike TV Video Game Awards and the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition delivers the critically acclaimed game, all previously released downloadable content (DLC), plus digital downloads of the 2011 release of Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors album with a bonus track, and the classic 1995 Mortal Kombat film on the PlayStation®Store or Zune Video Marketplace on Xbox LIVE®.  The DLC includes fan-favorite warriors Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain, as well as the infamous dream stalker Freddy Krueger. The game also offers 15 Klassic Skins and three Klassic Fatalities (Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile). Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors is a collection of electronic music inspired by the game and is executive produced by JFK (of the DJ/ production duo MSTRKRFT and Death From Above 1979) and includes the popular track Reptile by the Grammy awarding winning artist Skrillex.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is a result of the team’s hard work and a culmination of all the success the Mortal Kombat franchise achieved last year,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.  “We are extremely appreciative of our fans and pleased to deliver this complete experience in one package.”

The 2011 release of Mortal Kombat was a triumphant return to the game’s original mature presentation offering over-the-top fatalities and cringe-worthy X-ray moves. Going back to a 2D fighting plane, this latest iteration in the franchise introduced a number of new gameplay features including Tag Team, Challenge Tower, and a deep story mode. Players can choose from an extensive lineup of the game’s iconic warriors and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1 matches, or take on several players in the innovative online King of the Hill mode.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is now available in North America for $59.99 on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360. The game is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB).

Road to Evo: Winter Brawl 6 Results
vVv CD Jr Takes Second Tournament Victory in Philly on Road to Evo!

Philadelphia, PA -- Over the weekend of February 18-19, The City of Brotherly Love would play a fitting host to Winter Brawl 6 -- the second official stop on the Road to Evo! With Championship seeding points on the line, vVv CDJr. would have the opportunity to compete against older brothers and fellow tournament favourites, Crazy Dominican and Maxter, following up on his Apex Tournament Series victory, in January.

On Day One, eight pools would deliver two qualifying players from heats. The brothers would remain tournament favourites as they successfully took their pools without defeat. Prodigal son, Tom Brady, also followed through on his pre-tournament attention, enjoying unbeaten success with Raiden as his new main character (abandoning Sub-Zero). Sawnik Fawx would become tournament darling, a young Mileena player fighting well beyond his years with a style unpredictable and aggressive enough to contest a 2-1 loss to CD Jr in the top sixteen!

The pool winners would deliver an eclectic mix of mains and styles:

[Pool 1] vVv CD Jr. (Smoke) / PimpUigi (Scorpion)
[Pool 2] RM Sawnik Fawx (Mileena) / LB NY Chris G. (Noob, Reptile)
[Pool 3] EMP Tom Brady (Raiden) / WNBA Blackula (Kenshi)

Day Two would belong to Team vVv as competition spiraled toward two massive match-ups between CD Jr. and REO!

REO had Crazy Dominican's number in two fights, first eliminating him from the winners bracket in a solid 2-1 encounter, before revisiting the feud in a walkover to set up the Grand Final! REO did well to reset the bracket against CD Jr. [3-1], but CD Jr endured with a steady hand, taking a clean sweep six rounds in the Winter Brawl 6 tournament decider!

    Winners Bracket Semi Finals:
vVv CD Jr. (Jax) d. VSM Maxter (Cage) [2-1]

Playing as Cyrax, Mustard did himself and country proud, boldly charging to a 3-0 perfect sweep against Hidan's Quan Chi twice! The feat had to be peformed first to reset Mustard from the Losers bracket, before he again dominated in the best of five match tournament Grand Final! Hidan found his most competitive feet in the dying rounds, fighting valiantly to the finish, even as he succumbed to a bombed end. French participant, Dr Jackal, captured footage of the concluding clash [featured below]! Jackal was eliminated from the earlier pool stages, but clearly didn't hold any grudges.

World Game Cup 2012 Tournament Final:
GDA Hidan versus Mustard

It was to be a family affair for the Brits. GDA Hidan defeated Ketchup in the Winners Bracket final, besting his Sektor in a 2-0 clean sweep that forced a rematch between twin brothers, Mustard and Ketchup, who met earlier in the tour. Cyrax' Buzz Kill fatality finished their clash, one of several finishers performed in the finals.

OzHadou Nationals X will take place during the same weekend, in Sydney, Australia, but will not feature Mortal Kombat. New PlayStation Vita Mortal Kombat Trailer
Promotional PS Vita Trailer Takes Mortal Kombat to Town, the Library, and the Skate Park!

Players are all hands in this official new trailer for Mortal Kombat, a komplete edition variant for the PlayStation Vita that packs all the extras released with the first game, as well as handheld-specific extras!

Series icons Scorpion and Sub-Zero resume their feud for the minute and a half spot, battling out of Shao Kahn's Kolosseum into some of the familiar surroundings you may choose to do battle in.

Players will be asked to keep their kombat quiet in the library while they take advantage of features unique to the Vita. A blanket of previews have already showcased touchscreen fatalities, Test Your Balance, and other interactive mini-games that come with the 150 new tasks that await in a completely revamped Challenge Tower!

Challenge #1 is already known to answer widespread requests for a chance to play as Shao Kahn -- the famous Emperor of Outworld who returned as unplayable boss, in the original 2011 release. By far the most popular new feature with Mortal Kombat Online users are the sixteen new costumes [receiving over 58% in our poll]. The new designs go to multiple characters, including, Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain and Freddy Kreuger, who did not benefit from alternate outfits in their original downloadable release.

Update Feb. 17: The high concept of taking gaming on the road has led some outlets to misreport that the Vita version will feature "Augmented Reality" as facilitated by camera features in the device. Most prominently, Shoryuken.com and the In-Game on MSNBC reported the mistake, but have since retracted. Ed Boon (series Director) provided a source after the release of the trailer, noting [via Twitter], "Augmented Reality feature in MK Vita? No, just a really cool promotional video."

Running at a console equivalent 60FPS (Frames Per Second); Kombat promises to be as Komplete on the street, as it is in the home. Mortal Kombat includes all the expected features, including PlayStation exclusive guest character, Kratos.

Gamespot have an unverified US release date of April 2, while PlayStation Network recently revealed an expected UK date of April 27, as reported via Twitter. For live updates, follow @MK_Online, or like us on Facebook.

New Jazwares Action Figures at Toy Fair 2012
A Plethora of New Koncepts Appear in Jazwares Booth at Toy Fair 2012!

Toy Fair 2012 is underway, bringing the finest wares in the toy business together under one roof, for the ultimate convention preview!

Mortal Kombat features heavily in the Jazwares booth, (alongside franchise rival, Street Fighter), promising yet more big things from the action figure developer. Jazwares resumed production after a four year hiatus, returning to the license in 2011 after Warner Brothers took over ownership from Midway Entertainment.

The Toyark has photos from the booth, showcasing new and existing figures from the line-up, as well unique curiosities like prototype sculpts for Baraka, Jax, Kano and Nightwolf [pictured below]. Taking pride of place in the display is Shao Kahn, wielding war hammer in a blue sculpt preview opposite a throne play set, inspired by the iconic 2011 kolosseum arena.

Teaser boxes for upcoming figures appear alongside the first wave, promising new action figure versions of Quan Chi, Sonya Blade, a Battle Damaged Sub-Zero, and Klassic Ermac, all based on the designs featured in the latest game. Goro also appears as a possible future release.

Other retro designs are, of course, well represented in previously advertised Mortal Kombat 3 inspired six-packs, including the male pallete swap characters (with Rain), and the Lin Kuei Cyborgs. Adding to the line-up, the original klassic costumes released as DLC, and twentieth anniversary boxed editions for Scorpion and Sub-Zero, featuring the klassic, kontemporary and previously released figures based on Shaolin Monks. Reptile, Noob Saibot, and other figures can be seen in the displays.

In an interview last year, Jazwares' Director of Product Development, Joe Amaro, told Mortal Kombat Online of the big plans the company had in store, alluding to some of the new figures on show at Toy Fair [full story]. He also spoke of the extensive licensing process. Some figures in the display, such as a Shang Tsung set packed with the iconic Masked Guards seen in the first game, are awaiting licensor approval.

With no specific information to report as yet, Mortal Kombat Online will attempt to keep action figure enthusiasts up to date on release times and developments. More images are available at ToyArk.com. Thanks to for providing sources.

Mortal Kombat Joins MLG Championships
MK Breaks New Ground with Official Addition to Major League Gaming Lineup!

MK Joins MLG Winter Lineup!Mortal Kombat's conquest of the major gaming tournaments continues today as Major League Gaming announce the fighters admission into their upcoming Winter Championship lineup!

Revealed over Twitter with a message that sent ripples throughout the competitive scene; the inclusion is something of a coup for the series, which currently occupies the only slot offered to the fighting genre. Capcom's popular catalogue of tournament fighters is seen as a glaring omission, but MLG note the likely addition of another as yet unannounced fighting game. 2010 last marked the return of fighting games to MLG, with Tekken 6 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl represented in different categories. They did not return in 2011.

The MLG tournament is expected to offer one of the larger cash prize pools for a Mortal Kombat competition, and help galvanize the dedicated community forming around the award winning game. Prominent players, like MK World Champion PerfectLegend, were quick to show interest in the announcement [via twitter].

PerfectLegend Expresses His Appreciation in New Vlog. (February 6, 2012)

Arcade Kollection Now Officially Available for PC
Klassic Kombat Hits PC as Arcade Kollection Finally Emerges! Steam Coming Soon!

Computer gaming nostalgists will be able to go home again with mouse and keyboard in hand thanks to the official release of Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for PC!

GamersGate currently have the game listed for $9.95, for a 428.81MB download file. Arcade Kollection contains versions of the original games that made the series, a perfect package for curious millineals and 2011 converts who missed the early nineties originals -- Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat II (1993) and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995).

System requirements:
Operating system Windows Vista (32/64 bit) / Windows 7 (32/64 bit)
Processor: 2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor (Minimum Requirements) / 3.0 GHZ Dual Core Processor (Recommended)
Memory: 1GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 3 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card, Shader Model 3.0 compatible, Supporting 16:9 Aspect Ratio (Minimum Requirements) / NVIDIA 7900 GS or Equivalent (Recommended)
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c

The apparent release puts to bed confused speculation about the status of a Games for Windows kollection. In December, Joystiq reported quotes from series Director and co-creator, Ed Boon, who added fuel to the fire of a possible cancellation. Arcade Kollection was released digitally in August, 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 [full story].

Dedicated members of the kommunity continue to call for a PC release for Mortal Kombat -- the award winning 2011 game that rebooted the franchise. The last time the series produced a new game for PC platforms was Mortal Kombat 4, in 1998. Warner Brothers Games and NetherRealm Studios have not shown interest in pursuing a PC alternative to the immensely successful console title.

[MK4] received mixed reviews for its similar PlayStation and PC arcade ports, which were anecdotally unprofitable for then series owners, Midway Games. In 2002, Midway Marketing staff, David Tokheim and Randy Severin, told Mortal Kombat Online that PC versions had notoriously failed to return cost, resulting in an absence on computer from Deadly Alliance, onward.

Franchise rival, Street Fighter IV, has enjoyed a noteworthy foray into the traditionally small fighting game market on PC. A bouyant addition to Steam saw the game a top seller on its release, in July 2009 [via Kotaku]. With arcade versions developed using Taito Type X systems, Capcom's unlikely PC release may have been precipitated by existing technologies, the Taito system noted for using existing Windows XP components, a unique advantage.

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is expected to join the Steam store soon. Update: MKAK is now on Steam and 15% off, to boot! Mortal Kombat Online will keep PC gamers up to date on developments. Discuss your feelings about MK on PC on the forums, and follow @MK_Online for more.
