Though E3 has wrapped up this year, immediately afterward a couple of new interviews appeared with series co-creator Ed Boon. Though nothing groundbreaking is revealed in these interviews, each have interesting tidbits that are of note. Beginning with Giant Bomb, Ed talked a bit about the reasoning behind returning to 2D gameplay, fatalities and made a few quirky comments about everyone's favorite love-to-hate character, Stryker. E3 came to a close on June 17th, but as the media left the floor and the fans tuned away from their streams, Mortal Kombat was the game on everyone's mind. After winning Gamespot's Fan Choice award during Day 2, the game was chosen to close out the site's coverage of the event. Ed Boon narrated over the gameplay featured as designers Paulo Garcia and John Edwards took control of several of the game's revealed characters to showcase gameplay mechanics, special moves and fatalities. It’s yet to be officially confirmed by anyone whether this is some sort of teaser for an upcoming film or the next game. As well, WB Games has yet to make any kind of official statement. From TRMK:

Ed Boon's official website, Noob.com, has updated with a new image from what is likely a story mode scene between Mortal Kombat's ninja spectre, Scorpion and DC's clown prince of crime, the Joker!

Following on the heels of the release of a render in a Polish magazine, the folks over at Midway have made the render available to the Mortal Kombat fan sites! This render is the first image released of Scorpion, one of the four currently confirmed characters in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! Scorpion's costume in this render is very much a blend of his classic and Deadly Alliance appearance; the trim and belt have the same look as his Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance costume, while the mask's almost bone-like structure harkens back to the classic movie appearance.

Looks like Sony Entertainment has posted a brand-new trailer for everyone's favorite MK game, Mortal Kombat II, available "exclusively" for the PS3! The trailer has an original kickin' soundtrack playing to MK2 gameplay, showing what looks to be 100% faithful graphics and sound. This trailer is EXTREMELY hi-res at 1920 x 1080.

From the trailer, there appears to be no glitches whatsoever as with previous recent ports of the game (e.g. in MK Shaolin Monks and in Midway Arcade Treasures) other than the fact that the characters appear to have no shadows in the Dead Pool.

Over on the World Wrestling Entertainment website, one of the featured items is WWE Fantasy, which appears to be a fantasy wrestling game similar to fantasy football. In the latest installment, a new addition has been made to the roster which appears to be more than a little unusual. As an apparent tie-in to Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Scorpion appears to have jumped into the WWE fray. From the website:

There has been a definite drought of information regarding Mortal Kombat: Armageddon recently; however, our friends over at Midway know that interest in new information is strong. To that end, to give us a bit of a teaser as to what to expect, they've released to us seven exclusive load screen images! These loading screen images features grudge matches made popular in the games (and one from the movies!); they show Johnny Cage and Goro, Cyrax and Sektor, Kitana and Mileena, Reiko and Shao Kahn, two images of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, and Liu Kang (in zombie form) and Shang Tsung!
