Please don't lure people in with subjct lines such as "Is Liu Kang" with a trailing sentence. Subject lines should give a generally good idea of the subject matter of your post. If you give a lure title as you had, you may either (a) annoy people because the post wasn't about what they'd originally thought it was, or (b) be ignored by people who could possibly respond well to your post. See the FAQ for details. Thanks. -Sub-Cero

We see his soul sucked up by Shang Tsung. Maybe that's the goal of MK6. Or maybe the Final Secret.

Ouch... that's too much of a stretch.

Actually, like you said, I think it's "too much of a stretch". Liu Kang is truely dead, as you can see in the intro video of the game.

The only thing that bothers me is Quan Chi's ending. If you ever seen it, Liu Kang's soul transfers into Kano's body.

As for the so called "final secret", it's just a version code where you have to press a few button combinations to unlock.

Yes, you can't get any deader than that.

Pity btw, he would've made a great mkda character.

Yeah, him and sub zero are the only characters who have been in every mortal kombat game. But they might bring him back in MK6, and i hope they bring Scorpion back

No, Kung Lao seems to have inherited the role of primary hero from Liu Kang, not Kenshi.

check kung laos ending, yes lui kang is dead, and I dont think he will ever return, unlike johnny cage who actually had a reason for returning form the dead. ( I definetly wont get into a debate about that) I actually think kung Lao is such a good hero for mortal kombat, I looked at his ending today (I somehow forgot to look at it!) and it blew me away. This character has potential. But its not like lui kangs death is a sidenote, it plays an intregal part of the game. Its gonna be hard to pull a johhny cage on this one.

Actually, Sub-Zero IS NOT in every Mk game. There are 2 Sub-Zeros in the Mk fighting games:

In Mk1, we have the evil Sub-Zero that dies at the hands of Scorpion.

In Mk2-MkDA we have the younger (looking older) Lin Kei grandmaster, and owner of the Dragon medallion. Those are 2 VERY different Sub-Zeros.

As for Liu Kang, there are others like him that have been around since Mk1 and only missed one game, like Sonya Blade (even though she was alive and formed big part in the story in mk2, the difference is that Liu Kang had a big part in the story of MKDA...but dies.)

i have a lot of theories and opinions of maybe a possible comeback of liu but everytime i think about them one thing comes to mind... i cant help feeling that since Tobias left, Ed felt like he wanted to just get a fresh start on the Mk franchise and by doing this he kills off the hero that is behind all of the previous games and then proceeds to kill off the main villain of all the MK games (i know Tsung was the last boss in MK1 but Kahn was still behind it...) i think that liu and kahn r probably gonna be gone for awhile, not for good, but for awhile... i think theyll let MK fans get a breath of fresh air with new villians like the Dragon King and a new hero in the saddle (even though hes been in the MK games since 2) kung lao... i feel that the series will go through a "new begining" spell and then when fans have got use to this new cycle of things they will revert to bringing back liu and kahn and by that time MK fans would have had their share of "new" major factors in the game and will be ready for the good old days to remerge... i dont think well see Noob showing up for awhile longer either...

I wouldn't worry about that buddy, you know how these MK endings are...they're more like "if this person won this would happen" kind of thing...obviously Quan Chi won't win because then I think everyone is dead. But, nawww, that ending is just nonsense...

yes liu kang is dead.. but since he is gone i believe that kung lao will take the role of the hero like his ancestor did. (mk conquest) what i don't think though is that kung lao will be as strong as liu kang and in this next one he is going to have to fight having to be in his friend's shadow and dealing with the same situations he did, mabey even having a fling that he has to turn with kitana due to his respect for liu kang. this could add alot of depth into the story with liu kang gone.

why liu kang probably got killed...

well, its mainly because of the storyline but possibly, they can't give him moves (fighting styles). he's much like a bruce lee guy but they gave that to cage instead (jeet kune do and cage's other style. i forgot. and the nunchuku.) they made cage more like the bruce lee type rather than making liu kang. it had to be one of them so i guess they killed him since no one really wanted to kill cage in the bad guys (i mean not as much as kang)

I like that theory, actually.

why not let the bad guys win this time? kill off all the good guys...

then, move the story to the next generation where the humans have to win the mortal kombat to regain control of earth realm.... or soemthing like that... anything so long as its the next generation of mortal kombat fighters 'coz i really realy believe that there has already been too much action for this generation of warriors.

its such a coincidence that shinnok came back during this time, and the DK is ressurected after that and all the things, too coincidental for me... change timeline...

Adding a new face to Mortal Kombat would be a bad idea if the game isn't fun as hell. People like their old characters return. Look at Virtua Fighter 4 it had the same characters from the first one and was ranked a top game of it's year.

What you are saying is, keep the Mortal Kombat name but change everything else about it. It's the characters that make Mortal Kombat what it is, that's the only reason why I play the game is to see what happened to my favorite characters. If this were to happen, I would launch two seperate Mortal Kombat titles at the same time one with your ideas and one that would continue the storyline of the classic characters and see which one sells out more and gets a better rating.
