Hmmm, Bo Rai Cho is an interesting character. It is MK's "durken dude". However, although he was okay in MKDA, in MKD hes just a slow fighter with cheap moves. The thing that bugs me the most about him is his lame fatalities. His fir breathing one is good....but his other one...JUST HORRIBLE!!!
Overall: 5/10
PS- Can we get to Ermac

Bo' Rai Cho is the very reason Liu Kang won MK1-3. Without him there would be nothing left of Earth.
I remeber when MKDa came out and everybody was excited about the characters. Well, to me MKDA had the best character roster ever in the MK series. Bo' Rai Cho won my heart instantly when I played him. man, the moves were all in place, drunken style was adapted correctly from Zui Quan, and Mi Zong really suited him well.
Character design, well, I was expecting a drunken style fighter in MK5, when they said that each fighter will have real fighting styles. Zui Quan is one of the hardest styles of gong-fu, and each fighting game had his own drunken master. Bo' RAi Cho was however different: it was one of the best ideass to start him as non-human, becouse that explained his superna-tural strenght and size. Not to mention the ability to drink anyone under the table.
Moves: good. The flip flop and the stomp is the most uses i think. Kinda reminds me of a Jax / Sub-Zero mixture: check the puke puddle, that was the best!!! Only his fatalities are wrong i think. The one in MKDA wasn't that bad I think but the fartality (which is very wrong!) and the alcohol blast (good idea, but why does the body fallsa part, and where does master Cho keep his insanely large bottle?) were bad.
Storyline: good, average. There isa rule that the master can't interfere with the outcome of the tournaments/wars decisive batttles in evey storyline. it is always the apprentice who wins.
Keep him every way! Improve him so that he might be more digestible. I would rather see him instead of reikos and other no-concept warriors like Sheeva, Fujin, Kai, Chameleon or Khameleon and so on...

Bo Rai Cho.......... I hated him from the first sight. It was back in days, when I was still affected by awful MK4 and wasn't gonna buy Deadly Allience. I incidentally saw him on Frankie's "Fighting Generation". I wasn't really surprized... But then Frankie's good review on the game made me buy it and, well, I never regret this. The game is good. No Liu Kang for the first time! Damn, this was the first reason to buy the whole game! But such new characters, as Kenshi, Hsu Hao, Mavado and Bo Rai Cho himself made me regret of the John Tobias's dissmissal. I don't believe that creator of Baraka, Kabal and Sindel could ever create such a freaks as nearly all of the new DA characters...
But, back on the main subject, Bo Rai Cho.............. An old, always drunk fat asshole, who can only make winds with his ass and puke. Sorry, dunno any more rough words to describe... I hate old people in games. I hate Heihachi, Wang, Edge Master, etc. I hate fat characters. But that's exactly what Bo Rai Cho is. Funny..... But anyway, I could never take him seriously. He's just an....... Old freak, that's it.
Now we have old and fat asshole and blind freak. We only need some school-girl to cpmplete the picture! Well, Midway designers, what are going to give us next? Huh? HUH?!
Originality: 2/5
Scenario: 3/5
Appearance: -1/5 (man, he's disgusting...)
Final verdict: 1.5/5. His story is quite good and usable in future games, but he's so disgusting that I would like to never see him again. Baraka, finish him!!!

5/10 for this fat drunk bastard
Ermac really impressed me with his 'comeback' to the MK world. His story tied in nicely with Kenshi during MK:DA, and his story in MK:D is a nice flow up-story. His outfits are amazing IMHO.
His Fatalities are ok, his Hara Kiri is kinda funny to look at
All in all I'd give him a 7,5 / 10

About Bo' Rai Chos bulkiness. Well, in Sumo they have a special diet that lenghtens a little bit the forward stomach muscles. This couses the stomach wall, to have space to strech and grow, ergo, they make it a little bit stronger. The muscles have space to expland and with the diet muscles can be grown up to increase pushing strenght. The arms muscles are also affected by this method. Also, Zui Quan Drunken Fist style uses quick reposotioning and balance changes. Mass is needed for Bo Rai Cho to stay in one place (notice that unlike other drunk fighters he doesn't changes his position and swayes away so often)
Damn, he needs muscle mass (oh, no those are muscles and I know it looks like fat on him!!!) and weight to be effective with styles like Zui Quan and Sumo.
Like it or not, age comes faster when you practice martial arts (in a more intellectual aproach) and I would certainly throw away a game that has only youngsters and cyborgs or cybernetised warriors. Damn, MK is not a japanese fighter game where schoolgirls learn martial arts and finish off experienced wrestlers and fighters with ease...
Also, japanese fighter games all have stereotypical fighters (they cleverly disguise them in various storylines)

I hated Ermac ever since MK trilogy being just another ninja ripoff. But I quickly withdraw my opinion when I saw him on MKD trailers. He had a promosing storyline start and telekinesis seemed exciting, but what they done with him in MKD overblow my entire expectation list. A mystic hinduist aproach to the character, no longer a stupid ninja, but a wrapped face mystic who uses strange energies and magics. Better than Nightwolf in every way.
No more a ninja-that was his turning point for me!
Plus beating the shit out of the weakened but still deadly, mind-controlled dead earthrealm warriors and freeing them with his powers and sensing the One Being-OMG that was awesome.

Bo' Rai Cho
Well, in MK: DA, I never cared much for him and I rarely used him. He was great fighting wise though. His storyline was alright. His farts were funny and so was his fatality. He kind of had the Fat Bastard thing going on with his look.
In MK: D, I felt that he improved. I like his new look. His get up animation is funny. His Puke Puddle seems to be smaller than it was in MK: DA which is kind of strange. Sumo suits him well. Drunken Fist (Zui Quan) is still good. Jojutsu is good with that F + 3 move of his. I still don't use him that much, but he's very good nonetheless. He's very good to use against Onaga, especially with that F + 3 move in Jojutsu and his style branching combo from Sumo to Jojutsu is easy to learn and use. I had this crazy idea for a move in which he would do some kind of fart move and it would work a lot like Smoke's Stinky Cloud. Also, I was thinking of a move similar to Raiden's Torpedo and Bo's fart can make him jet towards the opponent.
When it comes to his storyline, I feel that it has also improved. It's a lot bigger, especially since he's the teacher and mentor to Shujinko. I hope to see him in MK7 and I wonder what his storyline will be like.
Both of his fatalities are hilarious, especially the one where he farts out fire! lol..
Overall, I like him more than I did in MK: DA and I hope to see him in MK7.
Ermac
Ermac has also improved, imo. I'm glad there was some mention of him in MK: DA. I know he started out as this ERROR MACRO glitch and then became an actual character which ended up being another pallete swap ninja. I really love his look in this game as well as his voice. His get up animation is awesome as well.
His alternate costume is pretty cool too though I prefer the primary costume.
Storywise, it was interesting and unexpected. I thought his storyline would involve Kenshi yet it involves teaming up with Liu Kang. His ending is rather interesting as well and it'll probably happen, at least part of it anyway.
Fighting wise, he's pretty good. Hua Chuan and Choy Lee Fut are interesting choices for him. I don't think he should have an Axe or any weapon style. He could have a third unarmed style instead. I like all of the special moves he had though it was kind of strange that he had his own version of Jarek's Quake move. I wish that when he floats that I could move him around as well as shoot a projectile like Sindel did in MK3-MKT.
I've only seen one of his fatalities and his Hara Kiri and they are both interesting. It was kind of cool when Ermac said "yes" after doing his fatality yet it was also strange.

To me, Ermac is like Scorpion to some of you. I started to like him ever since I first played UMK3.
And then in MKD....i was just amazed.

Ermac:
One of my favorite MKD characters!
I like his Alt, a lot.
I like the way he gets up.
I think his story is okay, I think it could go far too..
I like his attacks, he doesn't have a lot of combos. However he is good.
I like his winning pose.
He is a great character.

Ermac is a favorite of mine, I like the fact he is made up of souls from dead warriors. His look is cool and his special attacks are great, note that they are his!! I was a bit dissapointed with all 3 of his fighting styles to be honest they seemed a bit weak to me but he still gets the job done, he is like Mileena, weak but with enough skill you can defeat anyone with them.. Nice character he is much improved from his early MK days..

You said the exact words that I was going to say. Except one thing you didn't mention. Ermac's story >>>>>> Scorpion's.
IMO, Ermac was one of the most improved characters in MK:D.
alright, just to let you guys know that...tomorrow, ill be doing MKDA characters. and i believe that this thread will be moved to the Classic Forum. Since its no longer MKD related. so just a little heads up before i start random select a character in MKDA.

I disagree with you. Ermac has more of medium level strength. I think you just need to practice with him some more. ;)
Choy Lee Fut needs to have more moves in it though. I was glad it had a Sweep Kick. It also uses grappling techniques.
To Libra: Thanks for the heads up.

Ermac is my favorite returning male character. He has moderate strength but he is fast enough to shred an opponent in seconds.Hua Chuan is a VERY powerful style and it is taught to many Chinese policemen.Choy Lee Fut is also a very powerful style, using a whipping motion in the hips to knock an opponent....hard.He has AMAZING specials and they are all so strong. He needed more style branch combos though.I love both of his costumes and he has an interesting story. And to think,he started out as a glitch.
As for Bo Rai Cho,no.No,no,no.Just.....no.I HATE him.He is disgusting. He is strong but he is SLOW.I hate his look, his story, everything about him I hate.He is down there with Liu Kang and Stryker.Ugh,I'm sick now.

Holy *beep*!!! I forgot one person in MKD that we forgot to talked about!!! while i was selecting a character in MKDA, i just remember that we forgot to talk about the Dragon King!!!! Grrrr, he is a part of MKD. So, i promise that this is the last character we will talked about in MKD (i think...).
So if any of you didnt get the message. after we discuss about the DK, we will be moving on to MKDA characters (like Hsu Hao, Kano and so). and i believe if we start talking about these characters, this thread will be moved to the Classic Forum since its no longer MKD related. anyway have fun

I think the concept for Onaga is a good one. They seemed to have changed his look a lot from the way he looked like in Raiden's MK: DA ending to the way he looks like in the finalized MK: D product. His look is good and reminds me of Ogre and True Ogre in some aspects. The storyline is pretty good and I wonder if Reptile will be freed from Onaga's control.
When fighting against Onaga, he's a real pain in the ass. Whenever he hits you, you can't recover that quickly and easily. I hate his throw move as well as him knocking you into the death trap. Thank God they put in the Kamidogu in the stage so he can be stunned and weakened temporarily, otherwise, I'd find him nearly impossible to beat. I don't like how he roars. The voice should be fiercer sounding and he should roar towards the opponent, not towards the screen.

Onaga is a decent boss. I am forever hoping that there will be an unconventional boss character in MK (i.e. someone who is NOT a giant, looming beast-man who is slow but incredibly powerful and does not scream and explode at the end of the match). I do think he's a better boss than Shao Kahn (before you freak out, I do think that Shao Kahn played a good part; he just looked like a He-Man reject and his powers were stupid...love to see him upgraded, though).
The firebreathing and ground pound were too stereotypical, and just boring. I would think that someone with near-infinite cosmic power could come up with something better than Bowser from Super Mario Bros. And why didn't he have a weapon?
His look was good, I thought. He should have had at least one fatality.
Overall, I guess he was good. He played the part well, and his story was interesting enough. I guess I was just hoping for something other than the usual.

sweet can't wait to start talking about deadly alliance characaters especially my fave! onaga sucks as a boss. he is weak and all you have to do is destroy his little statues and you can combo his ass to death. not cool! he looks too i dunno like a acartoon bad guy i'd see pokemon fight or somehting. i think that shangtsung and khan were the best bosses ever! can't wait to see what happens to onaga's stupid ass later in mk 7! get on with the Deadly Alliance discussion
I think Onaga was the second best boss in MK history. I won't count Shang in, becouse he was a student of Khan and therefore it would not be proper to compare him to Onaga. Onaga differs from Khan and beats the shit out of Shinnok (Shit-knock).
Good appearance, tough i would rather have a more menacing facial structure. maybe as an alt for a boss. Good name finally tossing away the tradition of all boss names starting with SH-s.
Naga is a name for the snake people just in case, maybe from here co-mes the name Onaga.
One of the est bosses, hope his soul survives MKD, (notice the importancce they gave him before MKD came out, it would be really shitty to see him go just like that)

u know, i was expecting onaga to be like really scary.......in deception the characters werent really intimidated by him (o so it seemed) i think he was an awesome idea, but i wud have liked seeing him as this super scary person to all the characters..........i think Shao Kahn has been the best boss in mk, and Onaga comes in second
