Oh god no.I HATE Liu Kang.I always have.His is so stereotypical of the Chinese hero.It is getting REALLY old.I wish he would of stayed dead.Now for his look.I like the zombie idea but not on him.His moves are very easy to pull off and are sort of cool but again they've gotten stale.His styles are great however.Jun Fan a.k.a Jeet Kune Do is a very powerful style.VERY powerful.Liu Kang's Jun Fan is a bit faster than the real thing but Jun Fan is means "freedom" so it isn't as strict as other martial arts.Pao Chui(Sanhuang Paochui) a.k.a Cannon Boxing is aptly named.It is also a VERY powerful art.It,of course,uses movements that are like cannons shooting their mortars.When fighting against a person that uses Pao Chui,it also feels like a cannon hitting you.It HURTS.His Nunchaku aren't that good though.They're too weak.

Liu Kang was one good character. Untill MK4 came along. Notice that the MK saga has no variability when it comes to endings. Liu Kang wins all they way. Kinda boring. The shaolin idea was kinda freaky when he looked like a traditional chinese fighter. As a person, Liu kang is admirable (not the one Robin Shou played, god, that sucked).

But the thing they did in MKD RUINED MY VIEW ON THE WHOLE ISSUE!!!
First Shang Tsung killed Liu after so many defeats. God, that was some-
thing original. The bad guys got their asses kicked later, but bringing back
Liu to life (after he defeated his serial killer-possessed body) SUCKS HARD. GIve the poor fellow his rest, and no more turkey vocals.

I am a Liu Kang fanatic, he is very well executed, and by far the best character in any game he is in. His styles hit hard, and all look flashy, they are very quick, and am I the only one who loves those chinese vocals! Man their priceless. WHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPAAAAAAA!

If they would make him actually age (like Marshall Law in the tekken series) i would have nothing against him. A more manly Liu Kang with a slight mustache (again Law) and a more deeper chinese voice would rule hard. Redefine his specials. In MKD the main problem is that either there are too many or stunningly few specials. Liu Kang is unbalanced-not that unbalanced tough, he doesn't have a chance against my Hotaru or Sub-Zero.

Ok, before I talk about Liu Kang, I'd like to address something in regards to someone's post about Sub-Zero. Ed Boon stated that as long as he's involved with MK, Sub-Zero and Scorpion won't be left out. It would suck for Sub-Zero to die like that. He has such a big storyline.

Anyway....now on to Liu Kang....

Liu Kang is basically the Bruce Lee of Mortal Kombat. He is afterall based off of Bruce Lee...as well as some other martial artists. I believe he is the first Bruce Lee type character in a video game or a fighting game though I could be wrong about that. I know that he certainly comes before Law from the Tekken series, Jann Lee from the DOA series, and that Bruce Lee type guy from Kakuto Chojin.

I never really liked Liu Kang that much. He always seemed to win and be the main hero and such. I was glad that he was killed off in MK: DA and that Kung Lao became the new main hero.

I was a bit upset when I found out that Liu Kang would return.

Appearance:

The zombie thing kind of makes me want to barf at times (yes, I know...pretty disgusting...) but it's something different for him. The turkey noise kind of takes out the seriousness of the zombie look. He also has this other kind of voice which sounds more undead like which is good. But for the purposes of his zombie form, he shouldn't have the turkey voice. His alternate costume basically reminds me of the way he looked in the MK3 instruction manuals but in 3D. He should've looked more ghostly/spirit-like in his alternate costume, but I didn't mind either way.

Storyline:

It's something different for him. You gotta at least give him some kudos for that. At least he's no longer the main hero, at least not in MKD. Him teaming up with Ermac is an unexpected one. I have a feeling that

Fighting wise:

Jun Fan, a style of Kung Fu created by Bruce Lee (Jun Fan is also Bruce Lee's birth name), suits Liu Kang really well. It was a good idea for them to call it Jun Fan instead of calling it Jeet Kune Do, because if I'm not mistaken, Jeet Kune Do is actually more of the philosophy, right? I like using Jun Fan the most out of all of his styles. I don't like the Sternum Punch or the Chest Punch. To me, his Jun Fan should be a bit more like Law's Jun Fan style in terms of having jabs, cross punches, and backfists. The Snap Kick, Power High Kick, and High Hook Kick should be kept.

Pao Chui is powerful, but it doesn't feel that fast or fluid to me which is not very Liu Kang-like, imo. The Nunchaku suits Liu Kang and they did some good things with it. However, it needs huge improvements overall. I wish I could the High Fireball in the air like in the past MK games and I would've liked to have seen at least one or two new moves for him.

Overall, I find him to be better than he was before and perhaps he should be in the next MK game.

Let me start with one thing: I HATE LIU KANG.

Really, this asshole fucked up all the good classic series of MK by winning the tournaments (by participating in them even). If developers thought at least a little, they'd understand that LK could logically win only the first tournament due to the luck of competition. He's faster than Goro and he, well, had a chance to defeat Shang Tsung. But that's it. He was outta competition with characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Baraka and Shao Kahn. Four fucking victories, and then he just gave up after getting ONE SINGLE SIMPLE FUCKING FIREBALL!!! I don't believe it............... They can survive like, up to ten-or-so fireballs in game, but he lost after one easy strike in the back!!! ........... I mean, if he's so weak, how could he win 4 tournaments? OK, forget it. Liu Kang rule as a MK-champion was over. I was happy and I think that I wasn't alone. There IS alot of people who hates him. Maybe even as much as people who likes Scorpion and Sub-Zero. But somehow, somebody in Midway likes this pansy..... Was it Boon, or somebody else I don't know. But that sure was stupid to revive him in MKD. Guys at Midway, if you can hear me, LEAVE LIU KANG DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make Kung Lao main hero, if you really NEED main hero. But I say, that in DA Li Mei is a winner, in Deception it could be Shujinko, and maybe Scorpion in next game. Liu Kang is dead, dead for good, so let him stay dead, he earned his rest. Let new people to win.

Of course, I'm a naive fool, I know... They'll make his ending a cannon for the next game, he'll get back and win again and again and again....... This is gonna be endless, and in the end, in the 37-th MK he's gonna be the only character........

Anyway, if they really gonna get him back in next MK games, I'll find a positive side in that by having a chance of killing this asshole over and over again.

I like Liu Kang for the most part. His open hand styles own all. His story was kinda thin. I do think he should stay dead. However I wouldnt buy Kung Lao as a hero after his main purpose for being in DA was vengeance. I actually liked the new hero,.
And I hope he stays the hero. Along with a certain frosty fellow maybe.

umm, guys, Liu kang has been trained to be the bestfighter on earthrealm by the White Lotus Society, which he later left. He possesses supernatural abilities harnessed becouse of the shaolin (a minute-some of the shaolin legends hold patrs where the monks use similar abilities like Kang in MK-coincidence, of course, but still...)

He won the first tournament, okay, he won the second with the help of Lao Raiden and Cage, okay. After MK3 he defeated Khan, but he did not took any active part in the war other than that. the others did the battles, so Kang could face Khan alone.
NOW IN MK4-the Kang vinning sucks hard. There was the point where they overused him. I liked when in MK3/ Trilogy he got cut from the main battles only to preserve himself for Khan, and fought only a couple of henchmen (and some MK warriors) but the stereotypical use of him, was now in place.
Hmm, he should retire or come back completely changed for once. Keep the fireblast and the flying kick. Throw the low fireblast and bycycle kick away and replace them with something more original. Other new characters should have theese attacks redesigned, so that would keep the fighting engine in balance.
He's not so bad, but his storyline sucked hard. the only good thing in the past years was his death, and the serial killer zombie Kang was good too. I think he should head back to heaven or act as an advisor spirit for the others after MKD.

Liu Kang isnt my favourite character all time, but I like him...he looks cool, not very very original, but his appearance fits a fighting game...I dislike his high voice, djee thats the most stupid thing about liu kang...I like the fact that he's sort of the hero of the game...But sometimes they make him act like a saint, for example when he choose to fight for earth in stead of joining kitana in edenia...I hope they'll end up together in the end...oh and i do like his zombie appearance

I like him. He's cheap, but I like his outfits and his storyline idea too.
However he was cut short for MKD. I mean, he stalk Hotaru, but doesn't even finishes anybody in a fight. He's just stalking him. You know, after Hotaru got beat up by Sub-Zero with the help of Kenshi, Hotarus fate is unknown. But nothing suggests that Dairou killed him.

He was more-or-less original and maybe even cool in MK3, but in Deception he became ugly and boring. He lost something..... He's just........ Just like Dairou or Darrius. Nothing. Empty space. Zero. Zip. No way for next games for him. HUUGE thumb down.

Never liked Nightwolf. Altough bringing a "native" american into the series idea is great, he could have been executed a lot better. He looks kinda like a gypsie (no offense toward anyone!) than an indian. He's specials, well, the arrow and the tomahawk uppercut was kind of predictable, couldn't have we given him something more original?

Storyline? Well, he mainly a background supporter, he doesn't fight in the frontlines (like in MK3). And in MKD his alone wolf concept (a very good idea tough) wasn't a radical change.

Leave him. Should stay in the storyline, but leave him.

Personally one of my fav female characters and one of my fav's in deceptiion.

She is the ultimate bitch of MK, i liked her in MK4, but when she was carried over to MKD I was stunned to see how well she had developed. She has a brilliant look in both outfits, decent special moves, and some simple yet effective fatalities. Her fighting styles and weapon are also very suiting of her, I was impressed with her in deception and I do hope she returns for MK7.

I think Tanya should get an award for best Makeover in terms of look and moves, etc.
