In the arcades they had the chance to release upgrades. And not just one or two. The final MK1 was version 5! Took them that long to get it right. MK2 went to 3.1. MKDA was released unfinished. Ed Boon is constitutionally retarded and unable to finish anything. this is evidence that everything he says is a lie. He thinks he is being clever but it gets annoying after so many years of lies. Ermac was a lie. The final secret is a lie. |
I sense much hatred in this one.

You cant blame Ed Boon for not finishing MKDA you have to blame Midway.MKDA wasn't a bad game at all I consider it a classic.I bought MKDA when it was released in November 2001 and 12 month's later im still playing it.Ever since I started reading Versatile's combo's in the High level gameplay thread I've been hooked on MKDA.I have a feeling MK6 will be the leader of fighting games when it's released.

sounds pretty true to me.
but more to the point..
is there ANYONE... A N Y O N E.... who ACTUALLY knows the version code?
if not for the part about Boon responding that it is in there, i havent read a single post that said how to do it. not 1, incuding boon, who just said it was there.

Just a thought but has anyone tried button combos for a profile password. Maybe if you put in the right password you will unlock a secret profile or something.

Wow, that's a good idea. The Final Secret being a password could make sense. Who'd expect that?

Are you being facetious?
I'd like to interject something - Midway has always been known for (as everyone knows) keeping secrets fairly well. The truth is this: there could be a version code or a final secret or whatever, but we're probably not going to know b/c they're busy doing other things.
Codes exist for previous games that have never been released. Here's a great example: Go look at FAQS for UMK3 - most of them don't have Jade's Pit/Stage fatality, but it's Back-Forward-Down-Run - now that was never officially "released," however it was posted by ME and spread all over the internet when a friend of mine discovered it on his arcade machine using different combinations based on other characters' finishing moves (I'm actually quite proud of this :p). There are strategy guides on the market (go look!) that don't have the move, and one (I believe it was the BradyGames one) even says "it doesn't exist."
The point of all of this is the fact that Midway doesn't give a crap to release things - that's why everything is so secretive. Plus, it accentuates the mythos that is Mortal Kombat - hidden things make people play more, nuff said. Secret or no secret, it's a good game. I'm not going to give up hope, but I'm not going to sit here and waste my time trying to figure it out - someone will eventually. You should just ask the "all-knowing" RayRokka since he seems to be so enlightened on everything else.

This may be CRAZY, but everyone knows how "coupons" were mentioned. Now, does anyone know if Midway issues bearer bonds or otherwise known as coupon bonds? Since with those bonds you need to redeem a tangible coupon, maybe. Who knows.

And just to clarify, has every secret from past MK's been discovered? I thought I read an article stating that not everything was found in the series. But that could have also included the cheat menu for MK4 (psx) and the Trilogy code.
*edit* I read this thread again and saw similar posts saying the same thing I did... So I will just end with a simple wish that we will someday see all the missed secrets and off-the-wall peices never discovered through out the MK series.

subzero961 Wrote: I would just like to clerify this statement. Though it is true that there is a good chance of it being found by now, it may not be so. I remember that there was a MK Trilogy VS. Screen code that was not known until a few years of the games release, the code being 222-222 just for your trivia. Also I also remember that no fan found the PSX MK4 cheat menu, I remember that Ed Boon had to reveal to the fans how to do the cheat code in a chat once way after the game came out. scorpio Wrote: i think we all should just face it. if there was a secret, chances are it would have been found by now...i mean, its been out for allmost a year now. like i mentioned in another thread..people have cracked the game and found nothing. im sure someone on this board has ways of asking boon one way or the other. also, he never said it hasnt been found..he said as far as he knows know one has found it..which means we looking for something thats probably already been found...but you never know. |

exactly what i wanted to post, i agree with baraka8787. IF there is a final secret left in the game, and is a button combination, the most logical place to enter it would probably be in the profiles, and the player has to enter a certain code to unlock this so-called final secret.
Who knows, and to be honest, i dont really care anymore. the hype for this final secret is so damn huge, that if it is discovered someday, people will be let down because the hype was built up for so long

Or they wont accept the fact that it is the final secret cuz its not what they wanted it to be . We've already been told its the VersionCode, about 6+ months ago i might add, but yet people still try and pull all their thoughts together on what it might be.

Yea, but seriously, what is meant by Version code? Explain that to me please?
My theory that the secret is that MK team is fooling us again, like many many times... Ermac MK1, Zebron, MK and Cage switches on MK2 and MK3 arcades... Many many tricks... So could this be, but hey, keep playing and looking for it, cause that's why they trick you!

They also tricked us in UMK3 for the arcade, where they show the intro with all the fighters and Rain is there, but he's not in the game.

Have you notice on Konquest mode when the screen loads it shows the monk climbing a mountain, but on top of the montain is a shadow figure. i might be wrong but it look like noob saibot.

0
Could be Noob Saibot and probably it has something to do with konquest to unlock a version code.. Damn Ed Boon, he plays with our brain but let's hope that there is really version code in this game and he is not lying to us. But I really don't care about it, all i care about is playing it because it's fun and I already been playing it for almost 1 year and still not getting tired of it. But it would be very nice if someone found the version code and spread it.

i wanna mention something here...i dont think the final secret would be a version code...and the thing about it being a profile..that could very well be true...maybe the profile for it unlocks in completed characters or levels or something to that effect...something that was for ed boon to go in and modify things..like add menus and such...its just a thought...

If the final secret is only a version code then i dont see what all the hype is about.
TO MODS: Considering we have a thread for info on the final secret, could you close all other final secret threads as they appear?

If it is a button combo, wouldn't it make sense that it would be in the House of Pekara level in front of the Ghost. |
Can anyone explain to me the logic behind this?
1) There is an infinite number of possibilities for "try all sorts of button combos all over the place". Without further hints, like what screen, how many buttons in the sequence, etc, no one will ever accidentally find it.
2) What is different about these versions anyway? If there are 200+ versions, like has been said on this forum, there must be something different in each one. Otherwise, there would be no need for these "versions".
Has anyone played using different copies of the game and seen anything different? (Like a different color font somewhere, etc.)
3) Almost every game that stores a username has secrets unlocked by special names. I can't believe nothing gets unlocked through the username/password combo built into the game. But again, without further hints, no one would ever guess entering ed boon's mom's name backwards, with the passcode triangle, square, circle, r1, r1, circle.
I hope that there is something cool left, but anyone trying to find it themselves is wasting their time. I keep coming back here every week or so, to see if anyone from Midway has released any hints. Until any hints are released from the dev team, why waste your time anymore?

Ok,After reading all of this topic I now have a thoery...
To understand you might have to read the topic I posted called "Cheat Menu"
In there I explain that when the game first came out,I rented it and I had a Code which enabled a "Cheat Menu"(WHich was the right entrance they said you can't access)But I did access and there were cheats(Not very good ones)but some at least..
Now,I have just bought the game and don't remeber the code,But the apperance of this game like the "Character Select Screen" is diffrent from the one I rented..
Now what I'm sayin is maybe the "Version" code ed boon is talkin bout is only certian Versions will work with this code...So my throey is that there is a Version out there that that has a "Cheat menu"But not many have it...
that is my thoery..

Are you sure that you're talking about MKDA, and the Cheat Menu?
I never read anywhere else about a version being released with a Cheat Menu at all...
The Developers would've acknowledged in the chat that a cheat menu existed *if* it could be accessed on any version of the game that is/was out there. Or maybe they were just covering their butts when they said it couldn't be accessed.. Possibly a different version went to places like BLockbuster, etc..
I highly doubt it though. I agree with many others that say that the final secret is the version code..which we'll never find.
