I was 11 or 12 when I first played MK, so that makes it 1992 or so...I remember I cut out every picture in every magazine and taped them on my wall, by the time I grew out of it, I had a collage on my wall of about 225 pages...

It must have been 1993, so I was 12. I saw it [MK1] in an arcade long before I had ever heard of it. I thought it looked like just another cheap piece of shit. Which you may argue is exactly what it was.

I remember not realising the red stuff was meant to be blood, looked more like tissue paper. A few months later it got very big.

I guess I was 13 in 1993 and I went to a video store and the guy at the counter was telling me about a new game that was coming out that got lots of people angry because it was so violent and bloody. That was my first incident with MK.

I was eight, and my cousin(olympic_hero) brought mk1 for SNES to my house when it first came out. That was a day that changed my life forever.

I was six or seven when I first experienced MK, back whenit came out in '93.

i cant remember but i heard a lot about some 'bridge' and an 'uppercut' for a while.
the first time i actually played anything mk was at a friends house when mk2 first came out. it was on genesis and i figured out how to use liu kangs bycycle kick all on my own...i murdered with that, heh, eventually he figured sub zeros freeze which gave him the huge advantage.

well lets see, im 18 now, mortal kombat I came out in 1992, so i was seven when i first played mortal kombat

I was 23 when I saw mk for the first time.I remember walking past my local arcade and seeing a huge crowd around 1 game so I went to see what the big deal was,I got there just in time to see scorpion take of his mask and torch his opponent.from that moment on I was hooked.

Well I was eight years old when MK hit the arcades. I remeber going into the arcade getting ready to wait in line to play the Street Fighter II arcade machine, but to my amazement there was no one crowded around it. I wondered where the pack of teens that hung around it went to when I saw they were huddled around a new arcade machine called "Mortal Kombat".

When I walked over to the machine I got to see two players going at it, one guy was Sonya, the other was Kano. I thought the game was so cool because it was the most realistic thing I had ever seen. Then I saw Kano uppercut Sonya off The Pit and I was like... "Whoa! This... is the COOLEST game I have EVER... seen..."

And I've been playing ultra-violent videogames ever since... Funny, I've been playing violent videogames since age 8, but I have yet to go out and shoot someone... Hmmm

My brother had it on the MegaDrive/Genesis, and thankfully knew the blood code.

Even though I didn't actually get half of the fatalities.
Still though, I was hooked.

I believe I was 6, I played it on the Genesis. Boy, back in the day.

I believe i was 11, and even though i didnt have MK1 i happened to go with my parents to a friend's house and there they're son had that game. Though I wanst really impressed, when MK2 came out, the rumors where so swerling I had to get it. I also had MK1 on Game boy. It was black and white!

about 6, i think it was at my summer day care, my counselor was talking about it, later he became my babysitter and he brought it over for sega, then i bought 2...

Back in 1993 when I was 3 years old I had MK1 on Sega Genesis the first system I ever bought.

It was 1993 so I was 12 when I first played it.

Damn, I feel old now... I'm the first one in this thread to be 18 or over when the game first came out... heh.

Incorrect! Corylee was 23 , so that makes you the second oldest, so far.

I was 11, it was in the local arcade. Had to wait ages for a go, and then only got to the 2nd match.
