What would make MKDA better?
Let's see, it has cool graphics, they can be smoother anyways, so that's one.
The music is pretty cool, Dan Forden made a great job with some beats, but I think it should have had more music.
Sound, many fighters have the same voice, I don't like that, change it.
The history is cool, but it sorta looked like the MK mixed a lot of good ideas without any important reason, IMO, the result is great, but I think that some stuff have no sense, but we'll know after we get the endings that really happened.
The fighting engine is great, just fix a couple of bugs (Like Shang Tsung's bug when you hit the opponent with his knee attack in Crane) and try to add (not too much) more pop-up attacks, anyways, the fighters are really kool, there is at least one for each taste of playing, keep that, too.
Make the AI a little bit better.
Smoke; this one is personal. =)
Better secrets, spend effort and koins to unlock a pic of the guy who painted Quan Chi's pants is not important for me, no offense.
A better theme song, Immortal is a bad bad bad bad song.
FMV or game engine-based endings. (Written endings are not bad, but please, the game is for PS2, GC and X-Box, leave written endings for other game systems)
That's all I can remember now.

TonyTheTiger Wrote: You know what I'm not sure has been mentioned that needs to be addressed? MK isn't an arcade game anymore and this is harmful in a different way besides deteriorating the community. Fighting games are probably the most difficult to play test in the way of "fixing" things. You end up making an action game and there's a bug that enables the player to kill bosses easily (ex. Megaman 1 with Elecman's weapon) no big deal, the player doesn't have to use it or can use it to his advantage. Same if there's a glitch that causes the player to fall through the floor at a certain point. He simply learns to work around it. Fighting games, on the other hand, work differently. You can't always "work around" issues that can come up. Not to mention that since there's countless numbers of possible fights and combinations of moves that can happen, quality assurance can't always find everything that needs to be found. Part of the arcades was to use millions of players to essentially "test" for these issues. Infinite combos and other bugs would then be fixed in later revisions. By the time the console version was released everything, hopefully, was perfect. Since Deadly Alliance was a console only release, there was no chance to fix the infinites in the game for the North American version. I don't know how to remedy this without an arcade release but hopefully this will be addressed during the development process. |
I agree wwith all of the eabove statements
I would imagine that if MK is online...
there will be patches to fix anything wrong with the game.
Blitz is now online as well as NHL Hitz
this is encouraging to say the least.

How is the lag with blitz and hitz while playing online?

Kano is a streetfighter and Aikido is a good self defense style but not a good street fighter style.
Wing Chun is a street fighter style.
Street fighter styles are very offensive and ruthless and cheap.
Aikido is a Harmony self defense style which is very effective but it is pure defensive.
Blind Kenshi should have Aikido because Aikido has a good swordmanship training. Kenshi in his heart is a Ronin aka A masterless Samurai that still follow the code of Bushido. Blind Kenshi's personality is quiet and reserved.
Kenshi and Kano by their nature are natural enemies.
Kenshi's enemies list : Shang Tsung Mavado and anyone whom gets in his way.

Great article BTW!

Well I'm still a bit confused on the whole Kenshi thing. In MKDA, his two hand-to-hand styles were Chinese martial arts, but his weapon was a Katana, a Samurai sword. And I thought his people were a mixture of European and Chinese. We know that he's a Rogue Swordsman with a Katana, so I guess that could make him a Ronin. But his Sun Tai Chi style and his San Shou style say that he could be a combination of different types of warriors.

True. I think that Kenshi could always have a Tai Chi sword since Tai Chi is one of his styles. But if they keep the Katana for him, then he should be more of a Ronin.

I don't know where you come up with this MK is doomed unless they listen to us crap.....regardless. MK sells millions of units. MK6 will sell millions of units. The mass market dictates the sales. Guess what...the mass market is not hardcore fighting game players. The mass market is the casual gamer that picks up a game for the purpose of pure entertainment. You are the minority Vers, everyone that plays fighting games on a competetive level is the minority. It is a fact pure and simple. It doesn't matter if I get on the team or not....MK is going to sell millions of units with or without me. I think you are seriously deluded if you think MK will not always be successfull. You yourself said that MK has the most engaging storyline and the most interesting characters. That is why MK is successfull. That is why MK will always be successful. MKDA is going to be at 3 million units very soon if not already. Does that seem like a game that is destined to fail? Your opinion that MK is going to fail is so far removed from the truth Vers, whenever you say that I just laugh and think that you are a fifteen year old that thinks he knows everything...guess what Vers You don't know shit about this.
p.s. Never IM me while I'm working ever again...I unblock you and then you immediately get me in trouble with the VP of product development...that seriouslky pissed me off. Not just that, but you made me look really bad in front of someone that could fire me in the blink of an eye. I was trying to let you go nicely for fifteen minutes and you just wouldn't stop...the shit you were blabbering about meant absolutely nothing. I don't know shit about MK6 and even if I did I can't tell you anything. So stop asking...the game I'm working on is Psi Ops and my plate is extremely full for the next four months or so.

The truth hurts, yes it does...
I think you're wrong. I'd bet money that most people who purchased Virtua Fighter 4 or Street Fighter 3 Third Strike play it competetively.
"It is a fact pure and simple. It doesn't matter if I get on the team or not....MK is going to sell millions of units with or without me. I think you are seriously deluded if you think MK will not always be successfull."
Sales wise, yes, but gameplay wise it will always be lagging behind when it comes to depth and replayability. I never said MK would fail sales wise. I keep forgetting Midway is about the money and you people could probably care less about whether the game sucks ass or not..woops..my bad.
"MKDA is going to be at 3 million units very soon if not already. Does that seem like a game that is destined to fail?"
DA did fail, but like I said not sales wise. DA was broken, glitchy, unfinished and had absolutely no depth. If you call that success then I am Gary Coleman.
"Your opinion that MK is going to fail is so far removed from the truth Vers, whenever you say that I just laugh and think that you are a fifteen year old that thinks he knows everything...guess what Vers You don't know shit about this."
Ok..why dont you tell me how MKDA has been a success. Tell me what new things MKDA brought to the table. Unless you explain clearly then I'd suggest drinking a nice tall glass of shizzut the fizzuck up juice, because sales won't gain respect from the hardcore fighting community. And isn't that what you said the folks at Midway wanted? Didn't you say they wanted to know what would attract hardcore players?

Wow...I got joo in trouble? Well im so sorry..perhaps next time you should put an away message...no? It's not like I can hack past it and continue to get you in trouble. So try that one day. It just might work/
"I was trying to let you go nicely for fifteen minutes and you just wouldn't stop...the shit you were blabbering about meant absolutely nothing."
People skills...you need to work on it. Ever thought of perhaps saying "look I am very busy right now, Im going to have to talk to you later..bye"? Do I seem like the kind of person who would say "no, we're talking and there is nothing you can do about it!"? And even if I did say that..I repeat..that is what the away message is for. So don't blame me for you getting into a little trouble with joor superiors...it's not like I can see what's going on in your enviorment.

Why even bring this up? I haven't asked you for MK6 stuff since you last blocked me..making that statement's irrelevant.

uhmmm...I did say I had to go....several times. You wouldn't shut the fuck up. Even if I use an away message you still make the widows pop up and that constant IM noise. I have to leave my AIM on because I have alot of FRIENDS. If there is an emergency they know I will get the message.
My people skills are excellent...something that you...a fifteen year old have no idea what you are talking about. I wouldn't be where I am right now if I didn't have people skills. Once again you are making shit up to make yourself seem more intelligent than you really are.
Why would you IM me saying you made the honor role? Why did you call me daddy? Listen kid I'm not your daddy...I don't even consider you to be a friend because I have never even met you. You are like a mosquito that will not stop trying to suck the blood out of me. Now seriously think about this...and the things that led to this and I think you will see the truth. You don't realize that you are bothering me because I would like to think that I am a nice person. I tried being nice to you. It doesn't work because you are too self absorbed in yourself to see my side. Put yourself in my shoes. you are an adult just starting a new and exciting career. You have been give the responsibilty of designing the biggest budget game in Midway history. This pest of a fifteen year old smart ass IM's several times a day. You cant get any work done. You are having meetings in your office with extremely powerfull and important Midway execs regularly. The AIM IM alert is constantly going off because this kid keeps saying stuff like "Hey I made the honor role! Are you proud of me daddy?" WTF is that shit? This is a sign that your personal life is lacking something. Look if you need a father figure I'm not that guy. You need someone that can spend time with you on a regular basis. I cannot do that. I don't even have time for my real friends anymore. I am neglecting people I really love and care about for the sake of my new career. I probaly won't even have time to see my own Mother over the Holidays because we are in the middle of a crunch period.
once again you are a fifteen year old that thinks he knows everything when you don't know shit about anything. You are forever coming back with smart ass remarks to anyone that disagrees with you. You can't accept criticism. Uhmmm yeah...it' a business. If you think that capcom or namco are in this business for anything other than making money, you are sorely mistaken.
please leave me alone Vers...I have better things to do than argue with a smartass fifteen year old that thinks he knows everything.
You constantly IM me every day during work hours...you don't even talk about anything important. You just keep asking the same questions over and over and over....every fuckin day. It's a shame that I have to block you. I feel like you are stalking me. I have ALOT of work to do, massive amounts to do before the year is over. You just don't seem to undertstand that. You seem to think I have time to chat with you all day everyday. About things I could care less about. You want me to play Gauntlet with you...are you serious? Have you played Manhunt? or Kill Switch? or Legacy of Kain Defiance? GTA on Xbox? There are a million titles that I have to play in the name of research. A million titles that are a billion times better than gauntlet on zsnes.
Please please please leave me alone.
I will unblock you on weekends but during the week I have to block you, sorry. It's nothing personal Vers...this is business and your constant IMing me is getting in the way of that. Please just let me live my life Vers...give me a chance to breathe once in awhile. My real friends leave me alone during work hours. Unless it's an emergency.
The whole daddy thing was a joke. Many people here and on other sites know that I do shit like that all the time..it's not meant to taken seriously. And if that father figure thing was an insult than I've truly lost a lot of respect for you...that is not something to joke about.
You say I've been asking too much about MK6, and it's why you've blocked me in the past. Ok, but when you unblocked me you said as long as I stay "cool" you won't block me. I figured being "cool" was not talking about MK6, but instead talking about other games and just kidding around, but I guess that's not cool to you, Ray. I guess being cool is me complimenting you on your art or showing enthusiasm about the game your making. You don't seem to be mad at me much when I do one of the two.
I mean geez...you make it seem like I basically bother you 24/7, and I don't think that's the case. Sure I do IM you a lot, but it's only just to kid around or talk about a game.
Oh well, Ray, if you feel you need to block me then go on ahead. When I first realized you blocked me (I have two screenames, on one you were online and on the other you weren't) I was planning on coming here and basically bad mouthing you. "You talk about me being 15? You're almost 30 and you can't settle something with a teenager" and stuff like that, but I really can't argue with anything you say. I have been a thorn in your side so to speak, and you won't have to worry about that anymore. Perhaps if you told me what the whole "being cool" thing meant I wouldn't have gotten you in trouble, and you wouldn't have had to block me.
